Waverly Reynar; a phony Vietnam veteran, phony Marine in Canada

| May 8, 2015

Waverly Reynar2

Someone sent a link to this fellow, Waverly “Wave” Reynar who claimed to the Canadian Leduc Rep that he was a Marine and Vietnam veteran. It was the story of his enlistment that caught my attention;

Reynar didn’t set out to be a Marine, but a single phone call and a spur-of-the-moment decision made one night in a bar in Butte, Montana in 1962 changed the course of his life forever.

He and a friend had left their hometown of Leduc months earlier with a few hundred dollars between them and a one-way bus ticket to Montana.

“We thought we were going to be cowboys, but that didn’t work out too good,” Reynar recalled. “There was a big coal strike going on at that time so the jobs weren’t very plentiful.”

Reynar and his friend got jobs grilling burgers and washing dishes for 80 cents an hour at the bus depot to try to earn enough money to get home for Christmas.

“We were just kids,” Reynar said. “We were staying in a flophouse. We just couldn’t get enough money and we didn’t know how we were going to get home.”

Then one night the pair coaxed the bartender at a local dive to let them have a couple of beers, even though, at 17 and 18 respectively, they were considerably underage. Sitting by the back door in case they needed to make a hasty escape, they noticed that the bartender was on the phone.

A few minutes later, two uniformed men entered the bar and approached Reynar and his friend. They identified themselves as Marine Corps recruiters and promised to send the boys home for Christmas, no matter what.

“They gave us our green cards right away,” Reynar said. “I went into the Marine Corps in January.”

Reynar turned 18 in boot camp in San Diego.

On Aug. 14, 1965, at the age of 21, he landed on the shores of Chu Lai, Vietnam.

Yep, everyone knows that Marine Recruiters are trolling bars for Canadian teenagers that they can Shanghai into the Marine Corps, because they make the best Marines. And also, the recruiters walk around with Green Cards in their pockets for just such an encounter. By the way, Wave’s birth date was was in May 1943, that makes him 19 in 1962, not 17. That math gets ’em every time.

Waverly Reynar FB

Reynar doesn’t like to talk about the war – partly because of the horrific memories it brings to the surface, and partly out of a habit picked up during his leave from the service as a way of deflecting negative attention.

Waverly Reynar

ADDED; Wave wearing a Silver Star that doesn’t appear in the other pictures;

IMG_1904 (2)

He claims that this is him supposedly proof that he was in Vietnam (but who can tell?) Are those pine trees behind him?

IMG_1906

We went back for another whack at his records, and find out that he was Marine, but not to the extent that he claims. No valor awards, no war wounds. He spent 11 years in the Navy as a cook;

REYNAR_FOIA-R_Navy_1968-1979_20150601-page-001 REYNAR_FOIA-R_Navy_1968-1979_20150601-page-002 REYNAR_FOIA-R_Navy_1968-1979_20150601-page-003

The Marines say he served 4 years and was discharged as a corporal, that’s almost the same as 20+ years he claimed and being a Gunny, after all whats 16 extra years of service and 3 pay grades between friends?

reynar_waverly_charles_nprc_2-page-002 reynar_waverly_charles_nprc_2-page-003 reynar_waverly_charles_nprc_2-page-004 reynar_waverly_charles_nprc_2-page-005 reynar_waverly_charles_nprc_2-page-006 reynar_waverly_charles_nprc_2-page-007 reynar_waverly_charles_nprc_2-page-008 reynar_waverly_charles_nprc_2-page-009 reynar_waverly_charles_nprc_2-page-010

If you’re going to have a ridiculous story about your accidental enlistment, at least have the minimum amount of documentation to back it up. Of course, I messaged Mr. Reynar on Facebook to get his explanation and thus far, I’ve been treated to the full-throat sounds of crickets.

I predict his Facebook page coming down in 5, 4, 3,…
Another booger-eating bedwetting thumbsucking wonder of a buck-toothed inbred Swamp Donkey!

TankBoy

Too late. I have his name and this page. I’m a retired Marine First sergeant (Tanks, nothing as sexy as this ass clown) and originally from Calgary. I was born in red Deer. This little fat old taint lives half way between the two. I will be looking to contact him this evening and asking him in the polite way I learned as a Drill Instructor after Desert Storm to please stop embarrassing us veterans from Western Canada with his absolutely pathetic crap.

TankBoy

I also just messaged said paper with my contact information, this web site, and how this wanna-be taint on a real Marine has professionally embarrassed their paper and the reporter in question.

HMCS(FMF) ret.

Light his fat, pathetic ass up…

I’m also contacted the Canadian Stolen Valor site to offer my assistance. First I need eye bleach to clean the images of faggotry burned into my retinas by this story.

A message I just sent to Waverly Reynar, a poser (and not a very good one) from my home province of Alberta. You can see him at the web site, “This ain’t hell, but you can see it from here.” If you also wish to say hi, his facebook page is Wave Reynar.
Hello Wave. No doubt you have been looking at the web site “This Ain’t Hell, but you can see it from here”. I am TankBoy. My name is 1stSgt Brant Young. I am a retired Marine. I am originally from Calgary. Most of my family live in Alberta. I am saving this message and posting it to my wall, so they know a lying piece of shit is amongst them. Your pictures betray a person with so little knowledge of Marine Corps uniform regulations and wear as to be not laughable, but simply pathetic. like you. You are an embarrassment to those of us from Alberta who have actually served in the Corps. The worst for me is you wearing purple heart. I have had the blood of wounded and dead Marines and Soldiers on me and my uniform. For that, I will not forgive you, and will offer my services to stolen valor Canada in outing you and shaming you. the fact that my Marine colors are flying in your yard makes me sick.

TankBoy

I got bored waiting for a reply from Wave, so I thought I’d email a few folks…

I noticed you are friends on facebook with Waverly Reynar. I suggest you check out his story on the web site “This ain’t hell but you can see it from here”. Turns out he was never a Marine, and is simply a valor thief. Feel free to share.

Yeah, he went there.

Dave Hardin

Of course he was. We had to secure the airport just so we could fly in all those Nam guys for a refresher course.

Actually there were a few ‘Nam’ guys there, some of them are on the wall. I won’t bother asking anyone if they know this guy.

Even if, an another universe, he was a prior enlisted submariner, I highly doubt the Marine Corps would allow Navy qualification badges on their dress uniform. I know they wear Pilot and Aircrew Wings, mostly because they’re Marine pilots and aircrew. Marine submariner? Not so much. Can any of you Devil Dogs confirm?

No, they don’t. I had fun with another Staff Sergeant on float back in the day. He was carrying on about being a prior Dolphin guy, so I convinced him it was authorized. I bet you that “Wave” has seen a few “Highland Rat Brains” in his lifetime…

Hondo

There’s another rather serious problem with this tool’s story.

He claims that he and his friend couldn’t find jobs in Montana in 1962 because “There was a big coal strike going on at that time so the jobs weren’t very plentiful.”

While coal mining in Montana was big thru World War II and more recently, coal mining in Montana had dropped to very low levels by the 1950s as railroads phased out coal-burning locomotives. It didn’t pick up much again until the passage of the Clean Air Act in 1970. At that point, the low-sulphur coal from Montana became economically viable again.

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/Montana_and_coal#Coal.27s_history_in_Montana

If there was any coal miners’ strike Montana at all in 1962, as he claims . . . it certainly didn’t have a big impact. And I’m finding no references to any such strike.

There was at least one large coal miners’ strike in Butte, but it was in 1919 – over 20 years before this LSoS was born. And there were significant coal miners’ strikes during the 1970s. I’m guessing he’s using false references to one of those in his “account”.

Hondo

Update: from Navarro, Peter, “Union Bargaining Power in the Coal Industry, 1945-1981”. Published in Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Vol. 36, No. 2 (Jan., 1983), pp. 214-229:

“In contrast, between 1953 and 1965 there were virtually no strikes in the industry, . . . .”

The “industry” referenced here is coal mining. Yep, the guy is blowing out his 4th point of contact.

http://www.jstor.org/discover/10.2307/2523073?uid=3739256&uid=2129&uid=2&uid=70&uid=4&sid=21106752919843

Pinto Nag

Just FYI. Coal wasn’t/isn’t mined in Butte. The Butte mines produce gold, silver, zinc, lead, and manganese, among other minerals and metals. The coal mines in Montana tend to concentrate in the middle and eastern part of the state.

Pinto Nag

And copper. Honest to god, how does one forget copper in the list when the “Copper Kings” concentrated in Butte. I am SO glad it’s Friday!

Hondo

PN: Wikipedia says that the Rosebud Mine in MT produces 12.5M tons of coal annually.

Google Maps locates a “Rosebud Mine” about 50mi ESE of Butte. Not sure if that’s the same mine or not, but it’s the only one that pops up in MT by that name on Google Maps.

Please disregard – location provided by Google Maps was wrong. A different source indicates that the Rosebud Mine that produces coal today is much farther east than that – about 100mi almost due east of Billings.

Pinto Nag

Butte is the site of the World Mining Museum, and is situated on the site of the Orphan Girl Mine. They have a fine website with a lot of historical info, but if you ever get the chance, try to visit the Orphan Girl. I think you’d be fascinated. I know I was!

Every one who without lawful authority, the proof of which lies on him,

The CA SV law in part A states it applies to CA uniforms; but in part B (quoted above) does not state that it is only for a CA award. It is for any. Now I am not a lawer (or a even lawyer), have not slept in a Holiday Inn recently, but IMHO could at least cause some concern for this LPoS

He said his only regret was not having an additional three Purple Hearts for the families of Peter Schiemann, Leo Johnston and Anthony Gordon, and plans to rectify the situation.

Lets see wearing ribbons and medals, you don’t wear the ribbon if you are wearing the medal.

Marines don’t serve on subs. It takes a lot of work to get that qual, its not handed out with coffee.

Chris

Got him talking to me now,,lots of threats, but of course his records burnt up in 73′. I asked him to post his 214 with the SSN blocked out,,waiting for the good old fashion, “I don’t have to prove anything to you” statement.

Hondo

He’s blowing it out of his 4th point of contact about that, too.

The 1973 NPRC fire was in a section of the facility (top floor) that housed USAF and US Army records – period. No USMC or Navy records were ever demonstrated to have been lost in that fire. And NPRC’s official position is that no USMC or Navy records were affected by the 1973 fire.

http://valorguardians.com/blog/?p=39667

Freaking idiot. He’s nothing but a LSoS.

Wesley Wilson AKA Enigma4you

Hondo correct me if im wrong but my understanding is that because of the type of filing system used there were cards that showed the physical location of the records. Those cards were not damaged or even on the same floor as the fire.

Those cards are used to verify general service while a records is recovered or rebuilt.

Much like a card catalog in a library.

Hondo

Sadly, no. The records stored on the original 6th floor of the NPRC (the floor was a loss, and was removed afterwards; the rest of the facility was saved and was still structurally sound, and was put back into service) were the original OMPFs of many US Army and USAF personnel who fought in World Wars I, II, and Korea. Many were destroyed.

The following original records were lost:

Army Records: Personnel discharged November 1, 1912 to January 1, 1960 – 80% loss

USAF Records: Personnel discharged September 25, 1947 to January 1, 1964 (with names alphabetically after Hubbard, James E.) – 75% loss

Some records were damaged, but were recovered. (I’ve seen photocopies of extracts from one OMPF that actually shows burned edges on the pages extracted.) Most of those lost were reconstructed from alternate data sources. But the original documents are gone.

Thankfully, an index of the facility’s holdings on magnetic tape, and 100,000+ reels of microfilm containing USAF and US Army morning reports from 1912-1959 were removed during the fire; 95% of the microfilm (some of which had degraded) proved useable. This proved invaluable in reconstructing destroyed records.

OWB

Can confirm what you are saying, Hondo. My father’s Army records were among those “destroyed.” Even then, between what he had and the copies stored various other places within the system, not much was actually lost. And his were among those with very little recoverable after the fire. They contacted him and asked that he send copies of what he had to help reconstruct his file, and to give them clues where to search for other documents.

Chris

He sent me a picture of some Ukrainian Magazine that has one sentence that says ‘some Navy and Marine records were also lost’

Hondo

He is full of it. Read the link I provided above.

The Wikipedia article on the subject has a section regarding Navy and USMC records, and states that a small number of USMC and/or Navy records may have been in a “security vault” in the area affected by the fire and destroyed. However, I would at this point regard that as suspect – not necessarily wrong, but suspect. That section of the Wikipedia article on the NPRC fire appears to be completely unsourced and thus cannot be independently verified.

Wikipedia is “crowd-sourced”; I wouldn’t trust Wikipedia without at least spot-checking sources unless I was already familiar enough with the topic to spot BS. Even then, it’s not the best of sources. And in any case, I’d not exactly give a whole lot of credence to a Ukranian magazine article concerning the details of US military records archiving and records lost in a fire more than 40 years ago, either. (smile)

NPRC’s official position is that no USN/USMC records were destroyed in that fire.

Moreover, this guy claims he served for 23 years. Whether one is Reserve or Acitve, one’s records don’t go to the archive until one is discharged or retired (or for USMC/USN, possibly when one is transferred to the Fleet Reserve pending final retirement at 30 years) from the military. If he served 23 years as he claimed, last time I checked 1965+23 is 1988. His records therefore wouldn’t even have been at NPRC in 1973.

The guy is trying to BS you – plain and simple.

MrBill

On April 27 he posted on Facebook that he served for 28 years. So, that would push him to 1993.

Hondo

Hadn’t seen that – thanks.

Yeah, I’m thinkin’ his records were somewhere besides NPRC in 1973.

Like maybe “Nonexististan”.

CLAW131

Hondo, he claimed 28 years active duty service starting January 1963 + 28 is 1991.

Also (and HMCS(FMF)ret will love this one) look closely at his Vietnam Service Medal/Ribbon. In between the Service Stars he has a FMF Combat Operations Insignia. I thought that was for Navy personnel (such as a HM) who were attached/operating with units of the Marine Corps. So now he’s a pretend Navy HM/Submariner trying to be a pretend Marine?

When will it end? Maybe with a good ass kicking by TankBoy.

TankBoy

TankBoy has been busy messaging all the members of the Third MarDiv Association on facebook. No more reunions for this turd!

Pinto Nag

Good. He needs to be made a very lonely poser.

OWB

Aw, shucks. It might have been fun to let him show up at the next reunion in uniform, then have him arrested as a valor thief.

JohnE

Somehow I think arrest would be the furthest thing from the minds of the old Devil Dogs…

HMCS(FMF) ret.

You are correct – for Navy personnel assigned to FMF units (HM’s/DT’s/YN’s/PN’s/RP’s and officers).

Only saw one non-medical officer type who had one – he was assigned to a Marine Artillery unit as the Naval Gunfire Liaison Officer

I don’t like this “Wave” guy one bit…

CLAW131

I don’t like him either nor do I feel the least bit sorry for him.

Out of this whole shitty mess he has created for himself, I only feel sorry for those three Collie dogs he owns.

Chris

Hondo,,great point, I asked him that question,,no reply yet.

Hondo

I will indeed be interested in hearing his explanation regarding how his records got to NPRC in time for the fire if he was still serving on active duty or in the USMCR.

If you get an explanation, that is.

TankBoy

Can you get me a phone number? It’ll save me the trouble. I want to call the taint.

TankBoy

He wouldn’t reply to me. I got bored waiting so started sending messages to people.

GDContractor

I wonder if his story will evolve to, “Yeah, I gave my records to a wounded door gunner named Visconi for safe keeping. I met him when the two of us made the famous amphib assault at Chu Lai beach. I will never forget him, he had a lower leg wound above the knee. Tragically, they were destroyed when his mom’s basement flooded.”

Chris

He did tell me he left his SS on the ‘Wall’ in D.C. That’s why he doesn’t have any pictures of him with it.

sj

HMCS linked to it earlier: http://www.decaturdaily.com/news/local/veterans-honored-at-west-morgan-high/image_993aaeb3-f343-50b5-ab5b-81f014df186c.html

POS standing next to a US Army Soldier with 4 PH’s!

sj

El wrongo…SGT has 5 PH’s. Damn.

GDContractor

That SGT in the photo is no longer with us. Three combat tours to Iraq, 3 PHMs. Came home to die in a highway accident. RIP SGT Frazier, not forgotten.
http://whnt.com/2013/10/18/information-on-fallen-firefighters-military-service/

sj

GD: the article may be in error? The SGT is wearing what looks like a PH with 4 clusters and an ARCOM with at least 1 cluster (hard to make out.

Another link says 5. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.660023150694717.1073741844.243920062305030&type=3

CLAW131

Are there two completely different Jantzen Fraziers?

The article lists no Infantry training or assignments and a Combat Action Badge.
The SGT Frazier in the Decatur Daily picture is wearing a Combat Infantry Badge and associated Blue Discs and Cord.

Not to speak ill of the dead, but what is up with that?

John Robert Mallernee

Now, I have to wonder if the sergeant in dress blues is ALSO an imposter?

When did any of us ever see a soldier in uniform rendering a CIVILIAN salute on any occasion?

Further, the fake Marine Corps veteran should also know that, as of the past umpteen years, REAL veterans are now authorized to render military style “Present ARMS!” salutes, whether or not they’re in uniform.

Every time I attend a patriotic function, I have to point this out to other veterans, for it seems that, even after all these years, and all of the publicity, there’s a bunch of old guys out there who still haven’t gotten the word, or maybe can’t adapt from the old ways.

John Robert Mallernee
TankBoy

Still waiting for a reply from him. I did get an email from my cousin. She’s spreading it all over central and northern Alberta.

Patrick408

Get’em TankBoy!
Someone needs to light him up!
WTF, a chest full of shit that he has no clue what it means or what it takes to wear even the EGA… Take him out to the grease locker!
Semper Fi

Chris

Trust me guys, I’ve been on this cat’s ass since he accepted my friend request. Benn sending screen shots to Jonn of the whole convo!

Chris

This cat says no one has the balls to come to his page and call him out,,thinks I’m a loner, and his Marine brothers will get me,,lol I say folks,,,have at him!

TankBoy

Been waiting for my reply! What did you do? Did you spook him?

sj

Since he’s already checking the poser blocks with the fire claim, it looks like this is going to get good and we have ourselves a serious contender for the Tournament Will this be the first time it is an international competition? I know, Bernasty is not from this world.

Hondo

sj: I think TAH once had an article featuring some Greek dude making wild-azzed claims regarding what he did while serving in the US military. Not sure that tool made that year’s SV tourney, though.

Skippy

Hondo. Me and my stepson have made two sets of trading cards these are test cards. I’m going to send Jonn a set they are broken down by categorys will have to do one for international turds Lol…….

Wesley Wilson AKA Enigma4you
HMCS(FMF) ret.

He’s also making a claim that he’s a member of the 3rd MARDIV association:

http://www.zoominfo.com/p/Wave-Reynar/683884113

He’s listed on a Tax return (page 11) for the 3rd MARDIV association

Also, found this link – I wonder if this is his father, who served in the Canadian Armed forces and was buried in 1988:

Some more info on “Wave”:

CLAW131

That picture of him from the Decatur Daily is the first actual picture I’ve seen of him wearing the Silver Star. Everything before then had just been claims.

So now, two actual counts of Stolen Valor. Photographic evidence of both the PH and SS.

Additionally, he must have been a very bad boy a lot of the time during his “claimed” 28 years of service as he has only two awards of the Good Conduct Medal.

Hondo

Yeah, it seems he was an officer of the 3rd MARDIV ASSN from 2006 thru at least 2011. By 2014, he no longer seemed to be listed as such on their IRS Form 990, though.

Combat Historian

As SJ says, he’s already checked the block on the ’73 fire claim; next block to check is to go full secret squarrel and claim he was Lew Walt’s personal assassin and his personnel files are to this day TS-SCI CLASSIFIED. After that, he’ll threaten to SUE SUE SUE!!! It’s all in the poser playbook, write down to page and paragraph number…

Third Marine Division Assoc.

THis is where all of his Marine friends are from. He is a member and I have reached out to them for comment.

This is the reunion he is talking about attending in Orlando

TankBoy

Just emailed the Association Sargeant at Arms.

JarHead Pat

I posted all his info, in our Afghan Vets page( Canada/USA), should see him lit up good, a lot of the guys live in and around Calgary.

TankBoy

I posted it on my facebook account. Most of my family is spread through Alberta, so this should get some play there as well.

I hope he gets what is coming to him….

Hack Stone

Looks like this hoser-poser took a road trip down to Alabama to soak up some of the accolades, claiming a Silver Star, Bronze Star, and two Purple Hearts.

http://blog.al.com/breaking/2010/11/madison_prayer_breakfast_honor.html

In case it hasn’t already been asked, when did All Points Logistics open a Canadian branch?

TankBoy

And right by my home town, too!

Old Trooper

Geebus fuck, Hack, warn a guy before you post shit like that!!!!

Hoser-poser……that’s some seriously funny shit right there (from a guy that lives just South of the Canadian border).

Hack Stone

Someone needs to tell this knob to “take off”! Inspires me to watch Strange Brew tonight.

Tank Boy and I were stationed together 30 years ago, part of the lost Delta Detatchment. I stood out in Delta Company, being one of two radio repairmen, me being the competent one, the other guy the subject of our practical jokes. In case you never thought of it, drunk Marines really get pissed off when you swap their pillow with a sandbag.

ChipNASA

I’m already thinking that he’s not going to have a very good weekend.

I hope that by the time we come back on Monday, we’re managed to make him cry.

GDContractor

Making people cry seems to be your specialty lately. [sniffle] //still damaged

sj

Bernasty and SlUrPbuSSrIdeR are going to write you up for being cruel.

ChipNASA

I want this to be him. ON VIDEO!!!!

Friend S. Wilkins

Where on earth did you find this video??? LMFAO!!!

Hondo

Oh, waaaa.

(smile)

GDContractor

I’m just glad he was wearing a shirt… eyebleach don’t work.

sj

“I served in the Marines for ,28 years ,and fought many wars, wounded 4 times,…”

“…also I gave my 4 purple hearts to the mothers of the fallen 4,…”

I think I would know if I had 2 Purple Hearts or 4.

Combat Historian

Yeah, I lost count of the number of Imperial TIE fighters I shot down while flying Y-Wings with Butcher Squadron. I lost count because I MADE THAT SHIT UP…just like Mr. Poser here with his fairy tales of combat wounds and Purple Hearts and Silver Stars…

clamsgotlegs

“Then one night the pair coaxed the bartender at a local dive to let them have a couple of beers, even though, at 17 and 18 respectively, they were considerably underage.”

http://drinkingage.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=004484

Ummm. No. Once again a “reporter” who failed fact checking 101. The reporter is as much of an embarrassment as the poser.

ChipNASA

Gee the FIRST thing that I read was….18 and drinking. They only changed that in the U.S. back in the mid-1980s. You could drink when you were 18 in 1962.

🙄

This is for said “reputable journalist”.

GDContractor

Clams, you know I love you no shit… but I ran that statement through the truth-o-meter this morning and came up with something different. According to this link (sourced) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._history_of_alcohol_minimum_purchase_age_by_state, the drinking age in MT at the time was 21.

Hondo

Bingo.

Prior to the passage of the 26th Amendment (18 year old vote), most states had an age 21 lower limit for the purchase of alcohol. A few states had 20 or 19, and only 2 (Louisiana, Ohio) allowed drinking at 18.

By 1975, the situation was mostly reversed, with most states allowing purchase of alcohol at 18 (though a significant number still required the purchaser to be 19, 20, or 21).

That changed again with the passage of National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984. While this Federal law technically didn’t mandate age 21 nationwide to purchase alcohol, it withheld a chunk (10%) of Federal highway funds from states that didn’t comply. Today, all states have a 21 year age requirement to purchase alcohol.

Now, it seems stupid as hell to me to tell a guy/gal who is already eligible to vote, who’s in the military, and who may just have returned from a year in a combat zone that they can’t go buy a beer. But if they’re between 18 and 21 – that’s what the law in all 50 states now says.

Tell MADD and their “friends” thanks for that little “enhancement” to your personal liberty.

GDContractor

I remember reading the book “Currahee!” as a teenager. After kicking ass in 3 major European combat ops as a paratrooper in the 101st, he came home to his neighborhood tavern and was told he was too young to be served a drink.

Hondo

Younger guys coming home from Vietnam got the same treatment many places, GDContractor. Ditto the younger guys/gals who came home from Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Sometimes the law just doesn’t make any freaking sense whatsoever. But it’s still the law.

CLAW131

Same thing happened to me. I was never able to go into the Peak Inn at home and legally sit at the counter and have a beer with my father and older brother. Returned from RVN in Feb 72. Dad passed way six months later. I was still 20 years old.

Poetrooper

Hondo, laws are one thing but local practices are another. In 1954 at age 13 I walked into a beer joint in rural Oklahoma, climbed up on a bar stool and ordered a beer. The bartender never blinked and never asked for an ID while I sat there and ordered several more.

My friends and I drank regularly in Central Oklahoma throughout our high school years. I remember a bootlegger who operated a drive-thru hard-liquor business in two single-wide trailers about a half mile off Highway 11 just west of Norman. On Thursdays and Fridays in the fall, before O.U. home games, the cars would be lined up a mile down the highway, totally ignored by sheriff’s deputies and Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

I was 18 when I got to Fort Campbell in 1959 and drank in Clarksville, Hopkinsville, Nashville and everywhere else around the area until I left there at age 20. I don’t remember being asked for an I.D.

It was a different world back then.

Ironically, In New Mexico I was asked for my ID in liquor stores and restaurants even though I was in my late 60’s because of stupid state liability laws. My in-laws, in their late 80’s were carded in a Mexican restaurant in Albuquerque.

Go figure.

Hondo

Martinjmpr

Georgia supposedly had a 19 drinking age in 1980 when I went through OSUT at Benning and yet I never saw, nor heard of, a GI ever being carded. The attitude back then was that if you were old enough to serve you were old enough to drink.

This was obviously before our current neo-puritatical attitudes WRT alcohol which started some time in the 80’s or 90’s.

And even so, I don’t recall the military authorities getting their panties in a twist over GI’s drinking until after I left AD in 1996. I can’t remember when the DoD changed their policy so that military installations complied with state laws regarding the drinking age but I think it must have been some time after the mid ’90’s because I don’t remember seeing it or hearing about it when I was on AD.

Wesley Wilson AKA Enigma4you

I spoke with the 3rd Marine Asoc, Manger.

He was very interested in what I had to say and is taking steps to fix the problem.

I need to stress the The 3rd Marine Assoc is a real group and does a lot of good work.

They are proud of their heritage and this persons actions should in no way reflect on that group as a whole.

Thier Current Vice President is a Retired Major General, Former Commander of the Third Marine Division and before his last retirement was the Inspector General for the Marines.

Hondo

Good. Maybe that retired MajGen will have a one-way half-duplex nonreversable conversation with the guy that consists of the following:

“Some serious allegations have been made about you. Your options are to sign this already-prepared SF180, which we’ll mail – or resign from the Association immediately.

Your choice?”

Chris

I spoke with Don Gee at the Association also, sent him all 22 screen shots from mine and Reynar’s conversation, he was not a happy Marine.

Ex-PH2

The results so far tell me that this old fart is so locked into his fabrications and storytelling that any lie is a good lie as long as he thinks no one actually knows the difference… until someone who does know shows up and says ‘bullshit’.

My guess is he won’t give up, he’ll somehow find ‘Spaghetti’ Visconi, and the two of them will offer to sue TAH. Then birdbath will chime in with his 3 cents’ worth, and the wheels will continue to run in the hamster cages.

Oh, just shut him down, willya?? Someone besides me tell him he’s a crashing bore.

sj

Nah. Lot of chew toy left.

Chris

I just sent my entire convo with Mr. Reynar to the #rd Marine Div. Ass. Talked with a gentleman who is ready to crush this cat’s nuts in a vise!

Chris

Sorry should say Don Gee at the 3rd Marine Division Ass.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Oh America, what has become of the country I served in the Marines for ,28 years ,and fought many wars, wounded 4 times, for the protection of the U.S and free world,The Muslim Terrorists must be laffing their butts off, hell they do not have to attack us, they sit back and watch what is going on in Baltimore tonight, what have you become in that city, you are a disgrace,to the name of the United states, no one there can ever justify the disstruction and theft and crime against the police, shame on you Baltimore, guess who is going to pay all the bills for you destroying your city, Thank God I now live in Canada, God help America I’ll say this for that rat bastard he sure tells a big steaming shit pile of a lie when he decides to tell a lie. Maybe he figured Canadians wouldn’t understand the US Military so he’d be able to pull this shit off without ever getting caught. Probably up until the internet he was right. I’m guessing he’s been a liar since he first opened his mouth to suck his momma’s titties… Lying ass clown of a turd, my next door neighbor died in Vietnam. I served with those who were wounded there, my family has many, many who served there all of them honorably. You sir are not fit to be in the same room with these men who actually were there while you were not. Those who were there while you were home lying about your entire life. What a sad pathetic little turd you must be, floating in the bowl hoping no one notices how much you and everything about you smells like shit. Fuck you and your lies, stop it and apologize and start tomorrow as something you aren’t now, a man responsible for his actions. Your word will never be worth shit, but you might mitigate that with what’s left of your miserable life if apologize and spend some time actually doing a little minor lifting to aid those who did serve. You won’t do that of course… Read more »
