Weekend open thread

| June 22, 2014

My wife and I are going to breakfast, so here, keep yourselves busy.

Here’s the email from Mister Cushman, the phony vet politician in Florida that we wrote about yesterday. He’s saying that we didn’t do our research well enough, because he’s a veteran – he went to Air Force ROTC for a year – so there;

Comment: Reading through your website on how to request military information, I came to the conclusion you lack the discipline to follow your own advice.
I will elaborate on this comment since you may not be completely able to understand its meaning.
First, the record you posted about my military service is proof in itself I actually served. Now while it was not during combat, which you all seem to be hung on the only military service there is, it was none the less service. I do not and have never claimed myself a veteran but you certainly brought forth the evidence I am in fact a veteran although I will still never consider myself of that title. It should be left to those who rode out the career or contract in my case. Unfortunately, I did not for reasons certainly unknown to you and your followers. I will say it was not to dodge actual combat which I most likely would not have seen anyway and it certainly was not because I acted out to get booted. I have an honorable discharge which you should have been able to get if you are as good as you claim. Instead, I strapped on a badge and took to the streets as a law enforcement officer. Now before another group of lifeless individuals run away with that story, I will tell you
it was as an unpaid reserve while I tested to go full time. Wore the same uniform, carried the same gun and drove the same car just didn’t get paid. Put in 20 hours a week while working a full time job. And yes, I saw it all, as I normally worked weekend night shift beginning Friday evenings. I even have a letter of appreciation for being first on scene of a shooting. If you can imagine that! So to the clueless individual who can’t get past his own service or possibly lack there of, my life was on the line weekly. If you do not agree, tell it to the many loved ones of fallen officers across this country. I’m sure they would love to hear it from a set of classy individuals such as your group. But then again, you guys do focus on the “pedestrian” I see.
Now to the part you really dropped the ball on. Your first mistake was “media”. It is fairly obvious by your comments about media within the same website under contact us, that you disagree with much of the media as I do. Having done many interviews lately, I distrust their abilities a little more each day. And we all know, if you read it on the internet, it must be true. Noting all the gibber in the comments section in the post about me, I can’t help but notice a few errors in posts and mainly a bunch of ranting like small school children about the dislike over the lunch served for the day. Should I start a website to out all the service members who can’t seem to get the story straight? Will it prove some of your followers are complete idiots who lack the ability to verify what they post? Or will it prove some people just do not think at all? With that said, after the article came out, the reporter left the paper. She made a reversal of the timelines of military service and
law enforcement service. I caught it and the same day discussed it with a few friends . Like you, they had concerns with the timelines but they came straight to me unlike your unprofessional post and comments. It was decided not to pursue correction during that conservation as it is a weekly paper and these folks down here just don’t really care about trivial little things.
Now should you want any clarification on my military service which I can assure you, your post lacks much of the information about it. I will tell you it was not burned in a fire, classified or even lost. I have documents to back up the pilot, dates and what you all call “basic training” but in ROTC it is simply called boot camp. I will just give you this bit of intel as you may wish to check it. I was at Lackland AFB during the summer of 1989 on the Medina Annex (which I believe was closed to the officer training corps in 1993ish). The base had an F80 (I believe but could have been an 86) at the front gate. The drill pad I spent many hours on was just inside that and our housing for the stay was located up on the hill to the north of the pad. It was a three story “H” shaped building with 12 halls of rooms. Chow hall was southwest of that with a track, volleyball courts and baseball fields south of that. Of course there was a firing range and an auditorium located within the
base as well and many other buildings which I do not completely remember as it was 25 years ago. This should give you enough to go dig up Medina to find out it actually existed and was once damaged by a blast when it was a weapons depo.

There were many programs which were implemented during my service time. I have no idea if the information on them is available to you or not but none the less I participated in them. Keep digging and you may get lucky. Or should you chose to be a professional like you should be and ask first and react later, I may be happy to just share any information I have in my possession. However, I could just sit back and let you carry on with your assumptions and see where it ends up. Unlike you, I just do not rant about things I have no proof of. Pretty much like your website suggests. Lawyers just love to eat that crap up as they too never seem to have enough legitimate issues or cases to pursue.
As for the Clinton administration, I am certain I stated prior to the Clinton Administration which would have been, as many of your followers who posted on the FB page pointed out, prior to 1993. But I will let you be the judge of that since you are now aware of the timeline mistake reported in the article. I honestly wasn’t sure of the date I left. Just knew it was prior to that. By the way, why do so many of your followers hide behind fake FB pages or not disclose information about where they live? Are they not confident in the information they post?
I will leave the continuation of this story up to you but I will warn you, govern yourself accordingly!
Best of luck,
The lying politician from Florida or is it Texas. I guess it doesn’t really matter.

Please feel free to repost this as you desire.

Platoon Sgt breakfast? SOS, I hope. Enjoy.

AW1Ed

Navy SOS was (and I imagine still is) chipped beef and gravy. I liked mine with a couple fried eggs on top, yum.

Legans

Chipped beef and gravy was called creamed foreskins on toast, not SOS.

Sapper3307

ROTC = being in service.
Watching Apollo 13 = being a astronaut.
Crashing Sport class aircraft = being a pilot.
Being a disbarred lawyer = HCPO.
working at All Points Logistics = Navy Seal/native American & big fat liar.

Green Thumb

“working at All Points Logistics = Navy Seal/native American & big fat liar.”

Do not forget unlicensed and drug user.

Sapper3307

He may have prescribed it for himself to clean out those anal warts from bike week. Leather chaps offer no protection from the rear when an honorary CPO is near.

madconductor

What?! He’s not claiming to be a Marine Scout Sniper? Or did I just miss that?

FatCircles0311

He claims that ROTC was “boot camp” so he must be a US Marine!

Comrades in Arms:

On this past Wednesday 18 June 2014, an urgent NATIONWIDE APPEAL was posted by Ginger Russell at the FREE REPUBLIC web site requesting an emergency mobilization of volunteers from ANY and ALL militia units and/or individual citizens, to immediately report to Brownsville, Texas to help patrol and/or secure the one thousand, nine hundred and fifty-four (1,954) mile long Border separating Texas and Mexico.

Here is the URL of that posting:

Sorry open threads get me all worked up.

GDcontractor

He was “this close” to telling us he was a meat shield.

Reserve police officer, pilot, whiner, phony USAF Officer…. dude should have got himself a PhD. No sympathy.

I never knew that if then reporter leaves the paper, erroneous information cannot be corrected or retracted. Now I know.

C2Show

LOL “God Damn Meat Shield!”, I can’t help but to break down while on shift here and laugh at that line Dennis used.

Mike Kozlowski

….Boy, this dude gives a new meaning to ‘doubling down’, doesn’t he? Reality check, Mr. Cushman: Just because you attended an ROTC camp at Medina Annex DOES NOT MAKE YOU AN AIR FORCE VETERAN. YOU WERE NOT AN OFFICER. YOU WERE NOT A PILOT. YOU WERE AN ROTC CADET. The take I get from the FOIA letter is that you enlisted as an A1C (because of your ROTC time) on August 24th, ’89, and were supposed to ship NLT Aug 24th, 1990. You see, there was a maximum 1-year wait from enlistment to shipping, so you would have HAD to report to Lackland NLT Aug 24 ’90. Trouble is, there was that damned invasion of Kuwait on August 2nd…and all of a sudden, military service didn’t seem so attractive, did it? A LOT of people in delayed enlistment bailed at that point, Sweetums – you weren’t the only one. If you were an officer, what is your commissioning date? Where were you commissioned? Who gave you your commissioning oath? What school was it at? If it was at Medina, as you suggest, what was your class number? Who was your recruiter? If you were a pilot, where did you go to UPT? What day did you solo? What aircraft were you assigned to? By the way, I was a USAF recruiter when you were supposedly doing all these things. I – unlike you – have some vague idea what I’m talking about. You can’t give me honest answers to ANY of those questions, because even if you look up what you THINK are the right answers, you’ll get at least one wrong..unless you were really there. You’re a liar, bub – a bad one at that -and you got caught. Freaking man up and admit it. Feel free to call me out on any of this. My FB page is wide open. One last point – if you apologize and admit it, the nice people who hang out here will drop the matter and let you go on with your life. Keep it up, and you will discover that the… Read more »

Mike Kozlowski…Very well said Sir! Thank you for putting the nails out there for him to either answer and nail down once and for all or…step on and put them through his foot…again. Thank you again.

C2Show

Well done indeed. That long winded rant by Squinty Eyes McCushman was just silly way of not telling the truth about what he did. Judging from those dates, what a coincidence he dropped out of his delayed enlistment. To call yourself a veteran because you went to ROTC…flat out embarrassing. That is like saying you played 2 years in NFL and you are a veteran in the league. Doesn’t happen.

Marine_7002

“…former Air Force pilot…”

“…entered the Air Force and served for seven years.”

Pretty tough for a reporter to get those two simple statements wrong.

The lying SOB wasted (to be precise) 1,166 words dancing around those two lies that he told.

“Now should you want any clarification on my military service which I can assure you, your post lacks much of the information about it. I will tell you it was not burned in a fire, classified or even lost. I have documents to back up the pilot, dates and what you all call “basic training” but in ROTC it is simply called boot camp.”

So cough up those documents. Scan them and send them to Jonn at admin@valorguardians.com, or STFU.

By the way, describing the layout of the Medina Annex doesn’t prove a damn thing about your service.

Isnala

Agree 100%. What he did was go to ROTC summer camp. Just because you attend ROTC in colledge doesn’t mean you served. If you served then you will have that magical doc called a DD-214. Since it was in the 90’s there’s no excuse not to have or be able to request one, the fire was in the 70’s. If you earned your actual pilots wings you would know and be able to answer what your UPT class number was. Until you can proived both your just another stolen valor foney. Also for the record the people at TAH have never said if you didn’t serve in combat it doesn’t count. Yes rhere is good natured ribbing of those of us who weren’t at the pointy end but its no differant than giving your broth or sister a nuggy. To say other wise just proves you didn’t serve and can never understand why what you are doing and lieing about makes us act like dogs after a steak.
For the record I recently retired from the USAF, never went into harms way as my MOS/AFSC was mostly intel amd cyber support for those who did, and the rest of the crew here at TAH have never once said my service was any less honorable than an 11B. Because guess what jack wagon, it was just as honorable. I served, maybe it wasn’t dangerous or glamorous, but the work I did helped keep those I’m harms way safe, and to me that’s enough to be proud of.

Mr Wolf

I went to boy scout camp a few times. Does that make me a Ranger?

ArmyATC

I hear ya. I did deploy, but rarely went outside the wire. It wasn’t my job as a Air Traffic Controller. But I did support those who did go outside the wire and the proudest moment of my deployment was when the battalion commander told us controllers that because of what we did and the way we did it, we saved lives.

C2Show

I don’t think most of us on here went outside the wire. I seen a few 1C3s go do convoy duty or go out to train afghanis. But beyond that just worked under the Commander at deployed bases.

You ATC guys did alot out there though at deployments.

OAE CPO USN Ret

I drove by Stennis Space Center once. I guess I could claim to be an astronaut now. Hey! All you space shuttle door gunners load up, we’ve got a few places in Florida that we need to do a fly-by on.

Not that you’ll need to charge up the plasma capacitors or anything. The sonic boom as we zip by will be enough to make them to pee their flight suits.

jonp

I’ve driven by Cape Canaveral, shook an MOH’s hand, know a SEAL Captain, my better half’s father served at The Tomb, My 1st Sgt jumped into Vietnam with the 173rd..hell I had no idea how high speed I am. I’m a regular walking shit storm

Green Thumb

If one speaks with Commander Phil Monkress at All-Points Logistics, then does that make one a SEAL, Native American and Law Enforcement Officer?

Green Thumb

By the same token, if one speaks with Paul (of the Ballsack) Wickre, does that make one a raving lunatic?

Or even Turd Bolling at Ambassador Worldwide Protection Agency, am I now a security (both national and international) “expert” and sexual harasser of women?

SGT Ted

Veterans status is determined by US Law, not by Op Ed or assertion. Cadets don’t qualify as Veterans until they are commissioned.

So, no. Not even a nice try, just the usual 10 tons of bullshit trying to hide a lie that we expect from our Political Turd class.

Mustang1LT

This assclown reminds me of a jackwagon I knew at a previous job who claimed to be an Air Force veteran. Since I was prior Air Force, I asked him how long he was in and he told me that he graduated Basic and was in Tech School to be an SP (80’s) time frame but that once he found out that he was being stationed in Germany (he wanted stateside) he intentionally failed his rifle qualification and was given an entry level separation. The story sounded like bullshit, but since it actually made him look like even more of a punk, I didn’t call him out on it……until……He had the balls to denigrate my service as an Air National Guardsman by calling me a weekend warrior. Of course, this was AFTER I had returned from my little trip to Iraq. I let him have it in front of the rest of my coworkers and the only one of the bunch who was a vet (prior Marine) picked up where I left off when I got tired of insulting him. As far as this clown, it sounds like he’s trying to play the “Hey, I’m a conservative too” card. Listen, Cush: I’m as conservative as they come, but I’m not going to give you a pass. None of us here will. Hell, I didn’t give “Duke” Cunningham a pass when he got jammed up on corruption charges and he was a legit fighter pilot legend. So get bent and go peddle your bullshit somewhere else, we ain’t buying.

Sparks

Good for you LT! When I went from the Army to the Air Force there was a policy in place and I watched it happen. Bear in mind this was the early 70s, so things may be quite different now. If a guy, even an SP flunked out of an AF Tech School and I did see it happen at Keesler AFB where my tech school was, they were not released from service. Instead they were assigned as either, cooks or Security Guards. I saw an old classmate who did not make it through Basic Electronics. He became a Security Guard, unarmed, at one of the base entry gates. Maybe things have changed but simply not qualifying on the range did not get you “out” of the AF, in my day, it simple got you 4 years as something very needed, that you could do.

C2Show

That still somewhat happens today. But seen people flunk certification test on purpose to get retrained only to get separated or entry level separations. It takes hardcore/concrete evidence that he/she failed on purpose. Had it happen to two airman in my career field I had to speak with the Functional Manager about the person. Other guy wanted to get out because he said “Air Force was not for him”, he even lied to his father saying they offered him a chance to get out.

Club Manager

When did they build a firing range on Lackland? We had to commute to Camp Bullis (sic?) to fire during Air Police School. Do not believe we ever went to the range during the 4 week basic. But hang on a moment, I can see why the lad is confused. If you’ve spent any time around HS ROTC kids in uniform and then around active duty first term Air Force, their rack count is about the same. On a more serious note, have any of you ever heard a bona-fide ever refer to a firearm as a “gun”? Well, that is other than the battalion of hone Marine RECON/Seal/SF Snipers. What a pathetic lying sack of shit.

Mike Kozlowski

Club Manager,

When I went through Lackland in August of 78, there was a good sized range there that the basics went through at roughly the same time they did the Confidence Course – IIRC, there wasn’t much time between the two. Bullis had a range specifically for SP/LE by that point.

Best regards,
Mike

Sparks

Club Manager…Lackland 1972 we did qualify on the M-16 at a range on base during basic. Class time then range time. I know the AF Security Police School was at Lackland then, if memory serves me because I was not an SP. But I have no idea where they went to train and qualify. Just my old input.

C2Show

I think the firing range is on Kelly Annex now where they do FTX too. Could be wrong, been awhile, almost 13-14 years since I went to basic and Lackland.

Poetrooper

Back in 2005-2006, I had the opportunity to be all over Lackland, Kelly, Medina Annex and Camp Bullis. As I recall, the marksmanship training was all at Bullis now. The AF built a big new, modern Security Forces training facility there. Bullis has a number of ranges for all sorts of weapons qualification.

The only one of the other three that had the open area required for a rifle range was Medina Base although I never saw one when I was on that facility. There’s a lot of undeveloped area on Medina Base south of the old weapons depot so there could possibly have been ranges there. That would seem to make a lot more sense than hauling every swinging dick out to Bullis, some 25 miles away.

SJ

His screed reminds me of Chevy’s prose.

Delilah T.

Wow. Cushman, I do hope you are reading this brief comment of mine.

You wasted a lot of space trying to get right up our noses about yourself and the misperception that you were somehow being insulted, when you weren’t. Your response to Jonn’s post about you smacks of creeping denial about the news story itself. I believe the reporter was quoting you, not someone else, so you are, therefore, denying what you said.

Try climbing up someone else’s nose, Cush. Nothing to pick on here.

In other news, my tomato plant has 11 blossoms (11 potential tomatoes). And I put too much minced garlic in my salsa last night.

Green Thumb

Cool on the blossoms.

Tomatoes are around the corner.

Sparks

Love those home grown tomatoes.

Delilah T.

I took the salsa out of the fridge and gave it the taste test.

Somehow, it has become as thick as Missisippie Delta gumbo, and the garlic has now blended nicely into the mix. I can add some chunky fresh tomato, or get diced tomatoes next time, doesn’t matter.

It is SO good I named it (again) – that’s Damned Good Salsa! I will jar it, put it in the fridge, and keep it going. Should last 3 days. Healthy snack, too.

Thunderstixx

If you want the world’s best tomatoes, bury a dead carp or other fish about 12″ in the ground.
Then lay in about 8″ of dirt.
Take a tomato plant, lay it on its side and cover it leaving only the top bit of leaves exposed out of the ground and bury the whole thing except for that little bit of foliage.
You will get tomatoes as big as softballs and cherry tomatoes as big as baseballs and just delicious !!!
That will work for a couple of years, to help the soil, simply lay in another one every couple of years. the dirt will turn black and be filled with nutrients.
It also helps if you can put worms in the soil around your plants. They aerate the soil and help things grow.

Green Thumb

Phony Phil Monkress and his boys down there at All-Points Logistics should bring this clown into the fold.

He appears more than qualified.

Sparks

Green Thumb…In other news, Phil Monkress of All-Points Logistics, is still a lying ass chole, scamming the government for every dollar his Vet/Native American/SEAL posing outfit can get. Big DEAL, big SEAL Phil Monkress is still an MC wannabee liar and all around unpolished TURD and QUEEF! Just my two cents for today.

Green Thumb

Fucking shitbag.

What did he fly?

A set of balls?

Green Thumb

A year in and a pilot.

Tool.

A Proud Infidel®™

Smug little POOP STAIN, ain’t he?

Scotty

An E-3 that served one year in the Reserves and was a Pilot. I bet he smoked Pot but didn’t inhale either.

Green Thumb

Pot…no. Poles…yes.

Inhaled….no. Swallowed….yes.

GDcontractor

LOL. He seems hell bent on getting John to correct the story…the original newspaper reporter, not so much. John will have to “bare” the shame. Go MESNA!!!

GDcontractor

Damn auto correct….Jonn x2. Sorry.

Scotty

Jonn needs to only blog once a week so that it won’t matter to ROTC boy.

CWORet

I believe he gargled those balls…

“Since you lack intellect, check into a program the Air Force Started in late 1989 in which they contracted with civilian flight schools to train cadets up through twin engine IFR. It should not be hard to find.”

Hey Steve,

Did you not read my first post?

No. Such. Program.

Mike

ArmyATC

He was probably refering to the flight training that is offered by every flight club on every AFB that I’ve ever been on.

Delilaht T.

Cush, you really are a smug little ropetwist. Here you go, Cush, I’ll fix your mistakes for you: ‘shame will be yours to bare’ – it’s ‘to bear’, as in ‘carry’, numbnuts. ‘my step son’ – it’s ‘stepson’; one word, not two, dipstick. ‘cadets that attended’ – it’s ‘cadets WHO attended’; ‘that’ refers to an object or a critter, not a live person. ‘questions were ask.’ – it’s ‘asked’, past tense, not present tense. ‘Along with the Army you like to represent.’ – That’s a sentence fragment, not a complete sentence. It is meaningless, dullard. ‘You chose.’ – That should be ‘choose’. Nobody chose nothin’ yet, Cush, except you. Cushman, your false assumption that everyone who comments here is beneath you intellectually is exactly that – false. Your only basis for comparison is the equally false assumption that nobody has an education even approaching the heights of yours, and since you have not enlightened us AS TO what it may consist of, that assumption is equally false. Far too many people here most likely outweigh you in total semester credit hours in undergrad, graduate AND post-graduate education. You accuse us of hiding? We aren’t hiding. We don’t answer to you. Your only interest in finding out anyone’s identity lies in your implied threats of intended litigation – and where, boys and girls, have we heard that one before? Unfortunately, Cushman, no one has said or done anything to you to qualify as litigious, and pointing out the obvious flaws in your claims of service is NOT litigious. You just don’t like being found out. You flew? Where’s your pilot’s license and logbook? I flew gliders. I still have my logbook, in case I ever want to go back to that. Most people who have flown as licensed pilots can remember what airframe they trained on, unless it was a simulator, and training in a simulator is NOT flying. And for the record, I have no combat service because I put in my time when women were not deployed to combat zones unless they were nurses and/or doctors. I DO have… Read more »

‘Ret likes Delilaht T.

Delilah T.

And he pissed me off because he seems to have intentionally misspelled Jonn’s last name. Now, why he’d do that, but I despise people who do that kind of thing.

Jonn’s last name is NOT spelled Lily era.

It’s spelled L-I-L-Y-E-A, Cush, and you are henceforth a cushion ornament.

Did you think you’re being funny? Toward someone who spent a full-length career in the Army, jumped out of perfectly good airplanes in the dark, and got hit by friendly fire in DS, because someone ordering the strike failed to take wind drift into account?

Yeah, rattle on, cushion ornament. that’s about all you’re good for.

I do hope that when people start looking you up online, they find out here what a self-serving, lying asswipe you really are.

C2Show

Thats the problem with this guy, he is smug asshole. He wrote that wrong on person. Look at his line in the second letter. Giving Jonn a choice to change his blog. As if he has the upperhand on Jonn.

Hell, this guy seems to be bursting with confidence. He seems misinformed on how the Air force actually works.

Mustang1LT

Now he’s done it…….Since I know he’s lurking. Listen up, Kush:
You better come correct if you’re going to insult one of the admins on this blog. Your piss poor excuse for a military career doesn’t impress anyone here. So you want to make “dumb soldier” jokes, huh? Well, contestant number one, come on down. You can try me on for size. You see, I, unlike you actually have some paperwork that your pussy ass doesn’t have: genuine Air Force DD-214’s from my Reserve time and from my time in Iraq, plus an NGB Form 22 as an Honorable Discharge from the Indiana Air National Guard. I am currently an Officer in the United States Army and also have a couple of DD-214’s from my Basic Combat Training and Officer Leader’s Course. Unlike your pussy ass, I have deployed and am currently deployed. And if you come to me, you better fucking stand at attention and refer to me as sir, you worthless pile of shit.

ArmyATC

See what he’s trying to do? It’s the journalists fault. he says he was in the Air Force and he was a pilot. The journalist assumed he was a Air Force pilot. Nice dodge, but it ain’t gonna work. If someone says, “I was in the Air Force. I was a pilot.” the natural assumption, without further clarification, is that the person was a USAF pilot. If that was wrong, it’s up to the one being interviewed to set the record straight. But I’m sure that’s not the case with this queef. I’m sure the reporter did ask for clarification.

Marine_7002

He still isn’t directly answering the questions about his service as a “pilot” or his “7 years in the reserves.”

Stevie-boi, count me as one of the true vets who calls “bullshit” on your nonsensical, unfocused, innuendo-laden screed. By the way, your threat about “legal options” has been heard many, many times by other poseurs, fakers, and wannabees. Cough up those documents, Stevie-boi…we’re waiting.

C2Show

LOL this guy does not even know what plan he flew. I am going to assume he was suppose to be a Cessena/C-21 guy or something, which still lying but whatever.

t

About the only thing I can think of to say is…
If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, or in this case, a long drawn out explanation, baffle them with bull shit…

Delilah T.

…or bore them to death.

Marine_7002

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Scotty

It all makes sense now. He was Chevy’s Co-pilot

Green Thumb

Funny.

ArmyATC

Maybe he was the co-pilot for a certain dishonorable lawer type. Rather than answer questions about how an Air Force pilot could run out of fuel, he took an early out.

JAGC

I don’t get it… Is he claiming that some flight lessons he may or may not have taken during the course of his exceptionally brief enlisted year translate into a designation as “Air Force pilot?” I’ve seen some creative word smithing in my time, but no amount of babbling obfuscation and diversion can qualify this claim. Under this logic, all those soldiers/sailors/airmen who receive their scuba certification on the beach can claim to be “divers.” Or those of us who had to take the online SERE course and get the certificate to travel to overseas missions can refer to ourselves as “SERE trained.”

The political campaign of this public person must not be going all that well if he’s spending so much time doing damage control here. It would have been much easier to produce the Air Force order designating him as a “pilot.”

Totally unrelated and in the spirit of the weekend open thread… I was selected for 0-4.

Green Thumb

He played “River Raid” as a kid.

He is good in my book!

royh

I played River Raid while I was in the Navy. Those meanies never let me do a single carrier landing. 🙁

SJ

When is the promo party? Congrats!

Ex-PH2

O-4? When’s the wetting down party?

JAGC

Thanks, all! No details yet on the party, but it would be my honor to buy each of you drinks and food when the time comes (or any other time for that matter)!

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming–the curious case of a one-year, lower enlisted wonder claiming to have achieved designation as an Air Force Pilot.

CWORet

I’m in. Where you at?

Congrats on the selection, by the way…

Toasty Coastie

Congrats JAGC!

Best wishes for a long and fulfilling career.

OWB

Congrats, JAGC! Will raise a glass to you.

Sparks

JAGC…Congratulations Sir! I always enjoy reading your posts and I am pleased to read to were selected for O-4!

AW1Ed

Congrats on O-4, JAGC! In the Navy you’d now be a “Hinge”, defined as:

Hinge: Slang for an O-4, or lieutenant Commander (LCDR). So called because of the lobotomy that is supposedly mandated as soon as a naval officer is promoted to this rank, in which half of his brain is removed. A hinge is then inserted that allows for reattachment of the removed gray matter later. The hinge also limits the LCDR’s head movement to the fore–aft axis. This is clearly demonstrated as the O-4 is constantly nodding in the affirmative and saying, “Yessir, yessir” when in the presence of the CO.

Wonder if Steve has a flight helmet with his call sign on it too?

SJ

Re: “but I still flew for the Air Force.”

Maybe he’s counting a trip on Southwest to/from Lackland? He would have been on AF orders.

Oh and Steve: if you had been in longer you’d know that we poke fun at each other. I’ve worked with the Air Force for decades and been called all kinds of things and I reciprocated…all done in comradeship.

ArmyATC

Maybe he actually did go to flight school. He probably flunked out of ground phase or didn’t listen when the instructor asked, “Are the wheels down?” I wonder if he ran out of fuel?

OAE CPO USN Ret

If it takes afterburners to taxi back to the apron, you have landed with your wheels up.

gitarcarver

As I looked at his Facebook page yesterday and last night, he had a few people politely asking him to clarify his statements and service.

One post even linked the TAH post from Saturday.

All of those posts are gone from his Facebook page now.

Delilah T.

I guess the boy jes’ don’t like criticism, eh?

ArmyATC

I was one of those. I simply asked how he could have accomplished all he’d claimed in one year and posted a link to this site. He didn’t like it, made a snide comment, then deleted the post and banned me from posting. Typical politician. Lies and tries to silence the opposition.

OWB

What? All that I decipher from all that is that he contends that ROTC is military service, does not claim to be a veteran and if anyone interprets what he said differently it’s our fault. Is that about it?

What this clown seems not to understand (surprise, surprise!/not) is that there is a fair representation of USAF types reading all this who have not disagreed with the Army assessment of the clown’s embellishment of a non-career.

While I will defer to the recruiters among us for sorting out the details, this retired ANG (NOT an auxiliary unit of the USAF but actually part of the USAF) member of the USAF spent a career around pilots, support squadrons, training squadrons, and all that sort of stuff. Never once have I heard of an ROTC pilot. Met a few officers who had been in ROTC.

The “outrage” at the Army service of our host here simply makes him sound like a raving loon. Evidently he did not “serve” long enough to get an understanding that we veterans throw all sorts of barbs among ourselves based on branch of service, but pretty much always unite against embellishers and posers.

Toasty Coastie

Oh geeze, it’s Chevelier/Liar’s long lost brother 😀

Hey Cush!

As a politician you do realize that you MUST be transparent always right?

Seeing as you are in my state, I think I may have to reach out to some TV reporters…what do you think?

Clarify here and back up what you say with proof, and remember, we here know right from wrong when we see it.

Save the threatening drivel Swamp Donkey…we do have the means and know how to use it to verify Military creds.

Oh and by the way…NOT POSSIBLE to FLY for USAF with just a YEAR in.

ArmyATC

Well, Mr. Cushman,
You didn’t answer a single charge levied at you. No one has called into question the fact that you served. No one even mentioned work as a LEO. Nice try at distraction. A truly polished politician (read liar) would have pulled it odd much better though.

What was questioned was your claim to be a US Air Force pilot and officer. You were neither and the record holds that out. Why you got out is immaterial to the lies you told. Anyone who’d been to USAF basic, or who’d spent any amount of time there, would be able to describe the layout of the base. Now tell us the intimate details about Randolph AFB where USAF pilot training takes place. Tell us what airframes you were checked out in. What was you class number? When were you pinned? These should be easy questions for someone who’s BTDT.

ArmyATC

BTW, a prerequisite to even be considered for a spot at flight school is a degree in engineering or the aerospace sciences. Didn’t you say yours was in psychology? Did you actually get a degree?

The vast majority of those who post here are veterans of military service. Many are retired from said service and many are combat veterans. No one here is “hung up” on combat service, unless of course the liar du jour is claiming combat service. What you call “childish rants” is really the vehemence of those veterans at someone who would claim something they aren’t, especially for personal gain, as you have. We have a simple creed here, if you didn’t earn it, don’t claim it. Ours is a righteous anger, seeing lairs and frauds dupe sympathetic, unknowledgeable citizens out of money and services that should have gone to truly deserving veterans, like those who’ve been disabled by combat service. We’ve seen lairs and frauds try to enrich themselves by lying about their service for political office (sound familiar?) or promotion within a corporation. So don’t come here like a butt hurt child and whine that we got the facts wrong. We didn’t. You were never a US Air Force officer or pilot. Now I doubt you’ll come clean and admit you didn’t tell the truth. Your kind never do. You know the old saying about liars, damned liars, and politicians. So kindly GFY sideways with your mother’s dick.

GDcontractor

Me – no prior service. But I can tell you that Camp Mabry in Austin, TX has a UH1, an AH1, a F4, and some other airframes on static display. It also has an oval shaped jogging track. Red River Army Depot has a RG33 on static display out in front of the gate (does that count?). Camp Atterbury don’t have nothin on display, but the staff are awesome. Ft. Benning is huge. Bagram is a shithole. Sharana has open septic sewage pools that stink. Waza Khwa had a bridge over shit river. EOD blew up the shit truck at Sayed Abad because the dog smelled something. Airborne had a restaurant and massage parlor on post. Q_West had a tunnel system on the west side of the runways/base. What do I win?

ArmyATC

Atterbury had, and still has, that little open air museum right near the main gate. Bunch of older vehicles on display. It isn’t the static display you meant though.

GDcontractor

Never knew about the museum, but I wasn’t up near the front gate too much. So, do I get pilot wings or not? 🙂
I don’t know if you work on Atterbury, but I went through there 3 times. Awesome folks working there. They really know how to treat a GDContractor. (Disclosure-I bought my SSG. “team leader” a big bottle of crown royal on my last trip out, worth every penny.)

Twist

I just retired from Atterbury after being stationed there for four years. There is a static display of old vehicles next to the front gate as well as GEN Atterbury’s old rail car.

David

well, I used to drive past the SR-71 parked by the highway in Huntsville…. whooooeeeee, I’m a Blackbird pilot!

Rumor has it Cushman’s college degree in aerospace/psychology is also non-existent, he has some hours.

Sparks

Okay, since it is Open Weekend Thread I will use the opportunity to be a bit mushy and sentimental.

I am so very glad that during the recovery from my first knee replacement, I found TAH. As time has passed I have learned so much from all of you. I cannot tell you all how much your writing has improved and educated my outlook on issues and my own writing skills.

I feel absolutely honored that as time has passed, I have been accepted into the “TAH Family” and I truly think of us as a large, spread out, extended family of brothers and sisters. I admire all of you so very much.

Despite the posers, fakers and phonies, despite Obama and all the issues brought to this blog and discussed here, it is a true honor for me to be part of something larger than all those issues. They are simply what bring us here together. The larger issue for me is that I am part of a family of veterans, contractors and civilians who hold a common thread. A thread of love for our country, love and respect for our military and all its branches and members. A desire to hold the line, to have our nation be the very best it can be.

We like all families, disagree, argue at times, exchange barbs and do all the things which happen on any given Sunday family get together. But we all come together with honor, respect and yes, even love. We also all part with the same honor, respect and yes even love for one another.

So thank you, each and every one of you for being part of this fine family. Thank you all the more, for accepting me into this fold and making me feel, “right at home”.

Dinner’s on the table now folks, y’all come sit and break bread with me.

God bless and keep each of you. Especially those who are serving in harms way today and follow us from afar.

Thank you for this time to write what is in my heart.

I won’t repeat it here so AS TO not bring everyone down, but it was me trying to tell everyone here how I feel towards you guys and not to waste an opportunity to tell people how you feel. I also asked for some prayers. I have truly loved my time here good and bad. You guys are an amazing bunch and really helped me. I feel honored to speak with y’all. Thanks everyone for just being awesome!

Too late, other posers and liars beat you to it. Though, you can probably tie yourself to their sinking ship if you really want to. I will warn you, it may get messy and you may have to undergo their initiation of dropping the soap in their shower a few times.

None the less
So, are you illiterate as well as a stupid ass? I have eight years of college, have been published over a dozen times, and write regularly on the internet. However, I learned that “nonetheless” is not written out as three words when I was in middle school (junior high school). For the love of God, read a book and you will see.

By the way, why do so many of your followers hide behind fake FB pages or not disclose information about where they live? Are they not confident in the information they post?
Since you are an old guy, I’ll try to spell this out for you. The idea of using a moniker on the internet came about when you could only use eight digits (without spaces) for original chat boards in the 1980s. As the internet grew, this seemed to stay the same.

As for why we do not use our actual names or information, it is because of the same chuckleheads I am speaking of in the first post. Those people who feel we have wronged them for revealing their lies and post our info on the internet with derogatory comments.

Tell me, would you post your information on the local bulletin board outside the store that nobody wants to shop when it’s dark? Didn’t think so.

Funny. Here we have a politico who wants to portray himself as an conservative, small government tea party type.

And, he is also demonstrating that if he were to get into office, this honorless little liar would turn into the same public junket going, semi corrupt pork hound as most of the people holding public office.

I think Dennis is 0-6 actually. Probably had a few annulled here and there. Dennis might need a lil Dick in his life. Maybe Coop is giving him a little tubesteak smothered in underwear.

C2Show

Actually, this just bad spin control for Squinty McCushman. I don’t think he realizes that there are plenty of us here who were or are currently in the Air Force still that can call his BS. Instead he is singling out Jonn for his Army time and missing the big picture.

He could at least use a legit plane that he used to “train” while he was at Lackland. I just assume he meant that he was a C-21 guy. Which is still a lie because it seems Cushman probably never went through any kind of survival or CBTs prior to getting on the plane. I bet he was just a passenger in the backseat of a immersion flight.

Sparks

So I have to “pass” this along. I was outside a while ago adjusting a sprinkler head next to the neighbor’s fence. I pass the biggest colon full of gas I have passed in a month or more. A very, very foul and loud passing I might add. Not knowing, my neighbor’s wife, (they are Greeks who are American citizens) was on the other side not 12 inches away, with the grand kids picking cherry tomatoes. As the “oh dear” passes between the fence boards, I hear her say something in Greek and look over at me. To my surprise. Then the grand kids took off into the house like a wasp was after them. To say I was embarrassed would be an understatement. Now the kicker. As I look at her trying to apologize all over myself, what comes to mind but Dennis Chevalier and “seven pounds of cheese” and I laugh out loud as an instinctive, uncontrollable reflex. Much to my neighbor’s wife’s dismay and frowning look of disdain, she then takes off to the house. Leaving the pale of tomatoes, probably tainted anyway at this point. I feel awful at this point and feel I need to go talk my neighbor Ted and explain. So I knocked on the door. Grand kid answers and takes off like I was Frankenstein. Ted comes to the door and I ask to talk with him. I explain what had happened and the brief root cause of my outburst of laughter to his wife and that it was not intended towards her at all. He laughed his head off. He said he would explain to her what had happened in Greek. I then had to explain to him what “no harm, no foul I hope”, means in English parlance. I didn’t get the sprinkler adjusted either. I think I’ll leave it until next weekend or next time I see them leaving.

That’s my little Sunday afternoon faux pas. I learned my lesson too and remembered my old military training. Always be aware of your surroundings.

C2Show

Ouch, thats gonna make for awkward conversations when you run into her solo near the yards.

Sparks

C2Sow…Yea, I’ve already been down that mental road. Since I don’t speak Greek, which of all languages, I wish I could for my own reasons, I would have a better shot with her. Her husband speaks pretty well but she leaves something to be desired. Now that the humor of the situation has worn off, I feel like the “Ugly American”. I can’t imagine their phone calls back to the old country about their “foul and loud” neighbor. 😀

Jonn I took CPR/First Aid every year I was in the military and private industry. Can I claim Marine Corpsman for SEAL team 23? Also like Green Thumb, can I audit an online anatomy course and challenge the MCAT? Who knew if I put a poser’s thinking to my education I could come up with all kinds of diplomas, certifications and degrees? Plus all the military stuff I could claim. Hey, come to think of it, I did have a Top Secret/Crypto clearance in the Air Force. That could make me a very special, super secret Marine SEAL Corpsman! That’s it! I’m pulling out my old resume and really going to poser work on it!

jonp

I’m certified as a Rescue Diver. That makes me sort of a Para Rescue or Rescue Swimmer Right?

jonp

Oh yeah, I was a Paratrooper so I’ve got that covered.

Poetrooper

I think I may have found something that Cushman could be relying on for his Air Force pilot claims. I lived in the San Antonio area for many years and called on all the bases in the area.

I just remembered the Air Force maintained a small flying detachment at Hondo AFS about 35 miles west of Medina Base. I just did a Google search and came up with this:

USAF Centralized Flight Screening Program

On 5 June 1967, in an attempt to devise other ways of changing the existing USAF Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) program to save resources, HQ USAF proposed separating Cessna T-41 Mescalero training from UPT and centralizing it at one location. Hondo Municipal Airport, Hondo, Texas, was considered to be the best site for centralized flight screening for evaluation of ROTC and OTS students, and USAF Academy cadets potential for further pilot training. Consolidation at Hondo would be especially beneficial for the Officer Training School (OTS) pilot trainees, who historically washed out of UPT at much higher rates than their counterparts from AFROTC and the Air Force Academy who had participated in some form of indoctrination program.

This program could be what Cushman is referring to. As it was explained to me back when I called out there,it was a program to screen out pilot wannabees who had problems with air sickness and spatial disorientation brought on by aerial maneuvering. Better to find out early rather than have them dropping out after a lot of expensive training.

Sparks

Poetrooper…I don’t know if that is where he says he remembered being trained or not. If it wasn’t…it will be now. But it was a screening only program at Hondo Air Base, not a full fledged pilot training facility for the Air Force. If they passed the screening process they were shipped back to their unit of origin with a “Pass” for more flight training if they met all other qualifications to be a pilot. If they failed, they were no go for more training as Air Force pilot. Screening, does not a pilot make. It was basically the Air Force’s “look and see” program to rule out the most obvious problems associated with becoming a pilot, from flying deficiency to fear of flying to lack of spatial orientation. Also, it was only a 14 flying hour screening process course.

Per Wikipedia, “Training officials contracted with the Del Rio Flying Service to provide a 14-flying-hour Flight Screening Program using Air Training Command T-41 aircraft”, at Hondo Air Base.

Poetrooper

Exactly Sparks. It was a look see by the Air Force before they invested too much in pilot training for someone who would later wash out for basic physiological reasons.

What I’m thinking is Cushman may have been one of the washouts but now claims that flight testing as justification for referring to himself as an Air Force pilot.

David

did that program run over 20 years? He says his stint was 1989.

Enigma4you

Did I ever tell you guys I flew for the Navy?

No shit they shoved my ass on a plane at RDU and I went to RTC in San Diego,

The next time they put me on a plane from Pittsburgh and I landed in Rota Spain.

I even took a free 15 minute flying lesson while in the navy given by and honest to God retired Navy Pilot. I wonder if by that logic I can claim that I was a Navy pilot in training?

Hell I worked at hertz and one time I took a car to the airport for James Brown, can I claim I drove his car?

I worked on the DAS setup for the Democratic convention, can I claim that I was part of the presidents security detail?

I drove my truck Under the bleachers at Lowes motor speedway and thru the pits and across the track, am I a NASCAR driver?

I drank a really good beer on Jonn’s back porch while talking about black Beret’s does that make me a Honorary ranger?

I walked on a frozen lake in Minnesota, I did walk on water…

If you tell the truth the first time you dont have to back peddle.

Poetrooper

Well Jonn and I and a few others here flew for the Army as well. Our problem was we seldom landed with the aircraft, instead going out the back door at 1200 feet of altitude or so with a T-10 strapped to our backs.

But hell, I guess that makes us Army aviators, right?

SJ

I’ve see that movie…more take offs in a 130/119/HU1 than landings, but no where near as many as many of you guys. Am I pilot?

jonp

I used to joke about that all of the time.

Poetrooper

I forgot to mention that the Air Force Officer Training School, OTS, was at Medina Base at that time and, as I recall, so was summer AFROTC training.

Want to bet that Cushman took some orientation flights and failed to meet the physiological standards?

Sparks

Poetrooper…I’ll pass on your offer of a bet. I like my money in MY pocket but thanks anyway. 😀

It’s late. It hasn’t rained yet, but it will, so I’m adding my assessment of Steve ‘Douchebag Cushion Ornament Swamp Donkey Glitter Pompon’ Cushman, after perusing all the comments at my leisure.

Steve the Cushion Ornament is a smug, annoying, boorish, pseudo-intellectual, snotty, self-serving, boring, unjustifiably egotistical, obnoxious blowhard with an inflated ego and an intellect that is something between pea-sized and lima bean-sized.

He looks down his nose at everyone within reach, quite scornfully, I might add, so that he won’t have to actually TOUCH them when he’s campaigning. But folks, he WILL happily take your campaign contributions, tell you what you want to hear to get elected, suck up your tax dollars if elected, and waste your time and tax money on feeding his useless, sandbagging ego until you wise up and diselect him.

There are plenty of people just like him already elected to local, state and federal offices. The pork barrel is stuffed to the top with them. Don’t add this gladhanding sack of shit political asswipe to the mix. He’s just looking for a free ride at your expense.

I just returned home from an all-day outing and is reading about this Cushman dude…

He is claiming to be a USAFR veteran even though he skipped out on basic training at Lackland and got discharged ?

He is claiming to be a USAF pilot because he got some instructions on a Cessna from a flying club while he was a AFROTC cadet ?

Is this for real?

Is this shitbag who never went to basic training actually claiming to be a veteran and a USAF pilot to boot ?

What the FUCK, over…

Say about Cushman what you will, he’s still more of a USAF pilot than Cheddar Cheese.

Another pontificating asshole POSER caught in his lies trying desperately to deflect attention from his those lies by focussing on inconsequential bull shit.
1 year in ROTC does not make you a veteran, asshole. It gives you maybe a couple college credits.
You ARE NOT a Veteran, and most definitely ARE NOT an Air force Pilot, nor were you ever an Air Force Pilot. You also DID NOT serve 7 years in the US Air Force as you have claimed/implied/led others to believe.
I think it quite possible you have a future as a member of a certain Veterans Motorcycle Club, or even a board member of All Points Logistics… hell you may even be able to give flying lessons to a certain non Bar accepted attorney practicing in Florida and Oregon. You are not one of us though, and you never will be!

Wonder if the ambulance chaser from Wash State and Chevy have reached out to Ole Steve for some class action? Over.

First to Cushman: One year in ROTC does not make you a veteran, asshole. You have already insulted my alma mater, and now disgraced the uniform that both my grandfather, a retired major, God rest his soul, and my cousin, who just proudly retired from after 26 years service. So kindly go get bent over and grow up. You just fired up one hell of a shit storm coming your way and you will not be able to get out of it.

Second…today is the first day of my new office manager job. I will have no asshole like you wrecking it.

Have a good one, all.

Dear distinguished Open Thread colleagues and fellow fakers

All talk of basic training failures, embellishment of limited military service, lawsuit threats, and veteran status of those with less than 180 days of military service in weekend open threads should be limited to ME.

This newbie clown is taking my open thread spotlight…..and he doesn’t even have a book with false stuff in it, any intimate relationships with cop killers (I was “helping” her BTW), or even a single relationship with Russian spies.

How come all the love for this punk when Steve Cushman takes a “me” and, when he wipes, it is my image that stays on the paper like that of the Virgin Mary herself?!? I’m like my own “Fatty-ma” when the image of the perfect poser is needed in this case so give me my props.

If there are any questions, I’ll be available at my Gettysburg address.

sincerely

I was the NCOIC of the MHE and agricultural equipment maintenance shop at Medina. One day I was detailed to perform a MWR inventory at the Officers Training School. Since I performed this duty at the OTS building and grounds and inhaled the air there, should I have been promoted to TSgt/Lt, or would that be Lt/TSgt, or maybe, sub-sub altern?
Also, every now and again, I had to go to Hondo. I must have been out sick and missed the Cessna tail gunner class.
