Zimmerman not guilty
I guess at about 10pm last night, the six jurors, whose identities are being kept secret, decided that George Zimmerman is not guilty of all of the charges. So I guess there was room for justice in the court room. Of course, it was public opinion that got Zimmerman arrested, it took the prosecution almost two months to manufacture charges against him. From ABC News;
The Martin family lawyer, Ben Crump, said Trayvon Martin would go down “in the annals of history next to Medgar Evers and Emmett Till as symbols of the fight for equal justice for all.”
He added, “All America needs to dig deep to figure out how we learn from this tragedy and make sure it’s not repeated.”
The prosecutors were disappointed with the verdict.
Angela Corey, in a news conference following the verdict, said the state arrested Zimmerman because “We truly believe the mindset of George Zimmerman and the words that he used and that he was out doing what he was doing fit the bill for second degree murder.”
Prosecutor John Guy said during his rebuttal at the end of the trial that Zimmerman “had hate in his heart” when he followed Martin the night of the fatal confrontation. As evidence he quote Zimmerman telling a police dispatcher that “these a**holes always get away” and muttering “f***king punks.”
Talk about hyperbole. Fox News is broadcasting images of riots in Oakland. Yeah, that’ll fix things. But others are reporting that’s untrue. Twitchy has photos.
Casey Porter was at the scene of the trial the other day and got this video of a woman with a fake Jamaican accent who calls herself “Big Momma Jones”;

Nice bingo wings, lady.
I would give their outrage more credibility once the good Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson address the genocide occurring within the inner cities of Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, DC, etc.
i want to know how long Zimmerman was supposed to allow Martin to beat on him before he was justified to shoot according to these people? and why is it so acceptable to call him a creey ass cracker, when it would be more accurate to call him a spic. oh wait, thats not PC, if we acknowlege that he is mexican, then it isnt the evil white man. dont forget, its racist to say spic, but cracker is ok, lets go with that one. Martin supporters want to play the race card, but all the racism in this seems to be coming from their side of the issue.
#2 Bob over at Black and Right has a story about a guy severely beaten by six black kids dying recently. Unless you dig, they never mention race because it was black kids and a white guy.
You can’t expect those race baiters to admit to problems other than whitey. One of the few times I’ve ever been disgusted watching anything was watching Louis Theroux’s Black Power documentary. Watching the jackass tell Louis, “Whites and blacks can’t be together!” without batting an eye? What a miserable waste of oxygen.
Dr. King’s spinning in his grave with crap like this.
This was not a civil rights case like the media claims. It was a self defense case. The burden of proof lies with DA office. They failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt. I would blame black culture and bad parenting for his death.
From reading the trial details, it sounds like Sanford PD was correct in not charging Zimmerman. I think Angela Corey needs to be fired, kinda like what she did to the IT guy.
I personally think both Zimmerman and Martin were wrong, but there never seemed to be a a reason to charge Zimmerman.
Justice was served and rightly so. Now we will have to put up with the race pimps non-stop calls for further “justice”.
I think it would have been reasonable to try Zimmerman for manslaughter, even though the state had a terribly weak case, and I think that neither of the principals is, or was, a saint. All that said, I am on the road and got into my hotel just as the verdict was announced and I happened to have MSNBC on. Their salty ham tears were so delicious, especially Al “Freddie’s Fashion Mart” Sharpton. Also I loved that Zimmerman’s attorney called out the media in the news conference, that was dead on,
The left wants this to be a civil rights case but it is a self defense case all around. Now…the riots will start. Think how many people are needing a new big screen TV and Blu-Ray player? Well this will be their excuse. Tear up your own neighborhood in the name of mis-justice.
The outrage makes me wonder if these people were even watching the trial. Emmett Till?! Completely ridiculous.
They aren’t going to riot. Individuals can’t riot. All those snot nosed punks that were tweeting how they were gonna “wild the fuck out”, if Zimmerman was acquitted, aren’t going to do shit.
@11 You think not. Maybe so. I hope not but it smacks of the Rodney King excuse to tear up the neighborhood, translate that to mean, steal whatever I want, I can’t spell Zimmerman but it’s a good reason to “git my chit”.
@12: I know, but the “rioting” in Oakland is isolated to a small area and isn’t really as big as the media is trying to make it out to be. The media really wants riots, so they’ll pump up any story they can.
Also, I live very close to the hood and it was all quiet, last night.

Where’s Al Sharpton, MSNBC and the rest of the left/liberal hysterics when it comes to all those folk getting killed right and left in Chicago? Oh, not in the People’s Democratic Republic of Gun Control run by Rahmbo I, I guess…
If Obama, Sharpton and Jackson had a son, or more sons they would look like Martin. I bet Sharpton and Jackson are pissed at Obama for stealing their thunder comment.
I think Baracka probably wished his daughter Sasha looked like Trayvon…be a big improvement. Got beaten w/ an ugly stick for sure.
@18 Now I spit coffee through my nose. Thanks for the LMAO. I needed that this morning. 😀
Big Mama Jones had it right, the “truff” will set you free. Well I think the jury got the truth right this time and Zimmerman will be set free. I don’t think she as a clue what she is talking about except to say, “it’s a black thang” I doubt she could do anything well except stand in the welfare line for her check, food stamps, and housing voucher. She could care less about Zimmerman or Martin. She just wanted her fat, ugly mug of TV.
Speaking of race, that American League East is really a barnburner. It’s a virtual pick-em’. What? How’s that? Zimmerwho? Oh. Never mind.
@8, 68W58
manslaughter is the unintentional killing of a person. the varrying degrees of manslaughter indicate malice or intent behind the act that resulted in death. Zimmerman knew what he was doing when he pulled his gun and fired, manslaughter is clearly not the propper charge. the jurry should have only had the option on murder in the second degree. the judge, in my opinion, was under presure to point the jury towards some sort of conviction. that is the only reason (other than personal bias) that she would have allowed the jury to look at manslaughter as an option.
from all i have seen on the case, and i have followed it very closely, Zimmerman did nothing wrong. if i see someone walking through yards in the middle of the night in my neighborhood, im going to confront him. zimmerman instead called the police and reported what he saw, stayed on the line with the dispatcher, and only exitted his vehicle when martin went between two houses and the dispatcher asked where Martin was. Martin arrived at the house he was staying at, then turned around and decided to go after zimmerman. Martin decided there needed to be a confrontation instead of just going inside the house. Martin has a long history of fighting, and fancied himself some sort of gangsta thug. to me, aside from the 3 ring circus of a trial, is pretty much a feel good story. i do not think Martin did anything deserving of death, but it is still one less thug on the streets. every one i work with is of the same opinion, all 141 officers in our police force
So according the Trayvon crowd, if we’re White, then we’re supposed to just lay down and be victims. They’re just following the rest of the herd, Trayvon was shot while beating a man, he wasn’t snatched in the middle of the night and lynched!
The pic of the lady with the “Stop Stand Your Ground Law Abuse” is Cathy Makowski. She’s another mom who’s shithead son (drunk) bit off more than he could chew. After striking and slamming a former military guy in a McDonald’s parking lot, her son ended up getting strangled to death. Police ruled it self defense after viewing the security video. Of course mom screams her son is a god boy incapable of such things and ended up seeing and wining money from McDonald’s on grounds that they should have had security in their establishment. Now she’s professional protester against SYG laws because the law allows people that don’t start fights walk away when they win.
I love how this was made racial. In 2010, a black man-Adeirean Carey shot and killed Marcos Santiago, an unarmed hispanic teen in Florida. All charges were dismissed against him, and rightly so.
http://patdollard.com/2013/07/black-man-shoots-and-kills-hispanic-florida-teen-claims-felt-threatened-no-witnesses-no-charges-brought/
Well!! I’m glad we have a first hand eyewitness in Big Mamma, that it was cold blooded first degree murder, not self defense.
Where were you during the trial?
Now that George (or Jorge)has been found innocent of the murder and manslaughter charges, look for the following:
-The FBI to bring civil rights violation charges.
-The Trayvon family to bring civil charges.
It just don’t pay to do the right thing sometimes.
As another website has often posted, sometimes ya gotta go with The Four Esses —

@22 manslaughter is the unintentional killing of a person Not always in Florida….
In Florida it’s also this:
voluntary manslaughter if done without “ill will, hatred, spite, or evil intent.” Voluntary manslaughter is a catch-all offense that includes a killing caused by “culpable negligence
Clearly the state of Florida had a bad case and as I mentioned in other threads prosecuted so poorly as to be almost comical…
The most interesting thing about the trial to me is it illustrates several points about the justice system in America.
The first, and perhaps most important, is that justice might be blind in the US but she’s not cheap. The side with the most money and resources wins a statistically larger proportion of cases than the side without, that’s probably an obvious conclusion…
It’s also interesting to note that we are demonizing the dead guy, a kid with no record other than being suspended for smoking weed in high school….it’s easier to bring our own personal prejudice to bear to justify our emotions when we demonize the other side. I’ve heard and seen lots of folks writing about a thug Martin when there is zero evidence to support the term thug…the 90% of murders in NYC are performed by black and hispanic thugs to be sure, wearing a hoodie in the rain and smoking dope hardly makes you a thug…
I guess we now know two things, Zimmerman was not guilty and he’s a giant fat pussy who couldn’t fend off a guy 40 lbs lighter and still in his teens. Now he has a serious karmic debt that will someday have to be paid…I’m glad I’m not carrying that weight.
Best of luck to you George…
#27 Whose this “we” who demonized Trayvon Martin? Most of us were just appalled at how the media, Crump and the Martins wrote the narrative on him. They made him out to be a 12 year old angel so much that a witness misidentified who was on top, because she though Martin was smaller. Furthermore, Martin was no angel. His texts, which IMHO were completely relevant and would have reversed a guilty verdict shows his posturing about violence.
@28 then why self identify if it’s not you?
There was lots of talk about a him being a thug by the Zimerman crowd, there was unfortunately no criminal record to back that claim up…if you mean he was a wannabe thug I might concede the point, but I’ve not seen the word wannabe in front of thug in the context applied to Martin.
As I said before I believe Zimmerman was hardly an angel, he had no reason to get out of his truck if the cops were on the way…both guys were stupid that night, one guy gets buried and one guy gets to live with it…
I still believe Zimmerman will face a huge karmic debt…this wasn’t a killing defending your home, this was a killing after specifically not following the advice of the police he called. Hardly makes Zimmerman a cause celebre for anyone…
In any event the jury has made official what I believed would happen, Zimmerman is not guilty of second degree murder…a lot of folks figure that’s a fair outcome and justice has been served, a lot of other folks don’t. Perhaps it will end there now that the system worked to free a not guilty man.
Martin, a 6 foot tall, 17 year old football player, against a 5’8″ flabby 28 year old. keep saying teenager all ya want, the 12 year old martin picture that the media likes to show isnt who he decided to grow up and be. i call him a thug because of numerous fights he was reported in. just because he wasnt arrested, doesnt mean he wasnt involved. the only karma debt was settled when Zimmerman pulled the trigger and the thug wanna-be died. Martin wanted to be tough, wanted to get in a fight and woop the “creepy ass cracka”, he made the wrong call.
VoV, you said in a previous post that you are 250, you have 40 lbs on me and i can promise ya would stand no chance there. weight has little bearing on ability. me at 6’2″ 210, am far more capable and in better shape and better trained than almost anyone at 250. Martin, an athlete, at 6’0″ 165, was in far better shape and more capable than zimmerman at 5’8″ 200 lbs and no athletic backround. you can obsess about the weight difference all ya want, you are yelling about a non-issue.
i have no problem demonizing Martin, because i have no reasonable doubt that he would have ended up in the back of someone’s car with flashing lights before too long had he not been shot. he was the aggressor and instigator in the conflict, and payed the price for being a thug wanna-be
>I still believe Zimmerman will face a huge karmic debt…this wasn’t a killing defending your home, this was a killing after specifically not following the advice of the police he called. Hardly makes Zimmerman a cause celebre for anyone…>>
You are making a speculative jump. When the dispatcher said he didn’t need Zimmerman to follow, GZ said “okay.” All indications shows he was going back to his truck. When the police lied to him and said they caught it all on camera- GZ said “Oh thank God.”
TM could have avoided the confrontation as well.He could have gone into his home when he had the chance-he certainly had the time. Jantel, the pros. star witness even testified that TM said he was behind the home he was staying at.. He, himself could have called the police if he was “scared.”
Woulda, coulda, shoulda– I am sure if you ask GZ today, he never would have followd TM. That being said, nothing was illegal until the moment someone put their hands on the other one. Even if you could prove that GZ was the aggressor and the evidence certainly doesn’t point that way-Florida statutes allows even an aggressor to protect themselves under certain circumstances.
@30 you wrote, i have no problem demonizing Martin
I believe you because it fits your narrative, I find it interesting that almost everyone who likes this verdict keeps telling me that Zimmerman is innocent until proven guilty but they like proving Martin guilty without a trial.
I get it, folks on Zimmerman’s side feel justice was done and that a not guilty man walked free because he was not guilty. I even predicted that outcome several days ago after watching this farcical event on TV and reading the unedited transcripts.
Smitty I don’t doubt you can kick my ass, I’m in my late 50s with bad heels from years of walking with an M60 and playing soccer 2-3 times a week until I reaced 54…I am fit and still referee soccer and coach two different teams and I work out but I’m not as tough as I was 30+ years ago…my point was at 28 that wouldn’t have happened to me regardless of Martin’s athletic prowess…guess you misunderstood my point or I didn’t make it as well as I had hoped…
I know I’m not changing anyone’s mind on this case. Understand nobody is changing mine either. If you felt I insulted you during the exchange my apology, I try not to be a d1ckweed. I believe that while Zimmerman is not guilty of 2nd degree murder he’s hardly innocent. I’ll leave it at that.
Funniest part of the trial was the girlfriend who couldn’t read the cursive letter…that she claimed to have written. oops.
And with that I am off to WV on my bike to look for a place to move to after I retire (again).
Bottom line, ladies and gents, is that justice is not an end but rather a process. And seeing that the process took place fairly and completely, justice was in fact done, whether you wanted to see Zimmerman found guilty or not.
@31 Based on the past of both men I would have believed Trayvon before Zimmerman. Martin the thug had no criminal record, but Zimmerman the wife beater and the resisting arrest guy did have a record.
Zimmerman was good at getting off or having reduced charges on charges that were filed in previous actions against him. I don’t believe that thinking a wife beater who resists arrest might make poor decisions is a big jump.
What’s interesting to me is that in spite of the fact that George Zimmerman had an arrest record that involved domestic violence, and resisting arrest with violence he was considered the honest victim in this case.
Perhaps the next time some poor b4stard gets a f$cking ribbon wrong on his rack in a photo Jonn posts here we might show the same sympathetic restraint we give Zimmerman, the guy with the criminal record who killed the guy without one in self defense…
VOV: I agree the whole incident was bad all around. But both Martin and Zimmerman were portrayed badly here – and IMO, Zimmerman much worse, and by more sources. The media did an absolute hatchet job on him. And you’re continuing it above. (Best I can tell, Zimmerman was convicted of precisely as many crimes as Martin: zero. And a single conviction of domestic violence – which you imply by calling him a “wife beater” – would mean he’s not eligible to own a firearm by Federal law.) So are others who continue to speak badly about Martin. As to your contention that Zimmerman must be a wuss for not being able to fend off someone lighter and younger, answer me this: do you think you could today take on someone like a young Thomas Hearns without getting your rear kicked? From what you’ve posted earlier, you’d have more than 60 lbs on a young Hearns (who weighed even less than Martin, as I recall – Hearns was once the world welterweight and light middleweight champions). My point is that even a substantial a weight disparity between two people in a fight doesn’t equate to an uneven fight tilted towards the heavier individual. That’s particularly true when the lighter guy is younger, in far better condition, and has a 4 to 6 inch reach advantage. And that theory goes completely out the window if the lighter guy jumps the heavier from behind, or gets an initial “lucky punch” that puts the heavier guy on the ground – as is alleged to have happened by Zimmerman. What really happened? I dunno – and neither do you. Only one person alive actually knows that: Zimmerman. The jury just said they found his story to be (1) plausible and that (2) it had not been proven a lie by the prosecution. So legally the presumption of innocence remains, and he walks. Zimmerman’s life is going to be crap for quite a while, if not permanently. But neither you or I know whether he’s a murderer who “got off” – or is simply a… Read more »
i felt no insult VOV, simply wanted to point out that the weight difference wasnt relevant to anything.
as for Martin, he was found guilty. his jury was just smaller, metal, and moved at a high velocity. while it may not be the most acceptable term, when someone’s stupidity results in their death, we call it a trial by gun shot. there is no appeal, no hearings for motions, its done and over with. Martin decided not to go into the house, instead he turned around and confronted zimmerman. he then was found guilty and received expedited corrective action. Who martin was before this incident is what led him to make that choice resulting in his death. he wanted to be tough and a thug, that was the wrong life choice. i blame rap music glorifying these goals and choices, but that is another debate. i demonize all thug wannabes i come across in my line of work, and that is a lot of them. i know unless they decide to grow up and stop wanting to play gangsta, i will be seeing a lot more of them. unfortunatly, before i can arrest them and a DA can put them somewhere they cant hurt anyone, they have to make someone else a victim first. Martin decided he wanted to make someone a victim, and Zimmerman decided he didnt want to be one.
Zimmerman’s previous “run in” with the law in regards to “domestic violence” appears to have been a mutual affray. Considering he was also granted a restraining order against his former fiancé. That said, it had nothing to do with this case, just as Martins recent activities had nothing to do with the events of that night.
Zimmerman after being told not to follow and losing sight of Martin had been returning to his vehicle. Over 4 minutes had passed from the time he lost sight of Martin and the neighbors calls began…. 4 minutes. Martin had turned around, travelled in the opposite direction to his fathers and made a decision to confront “dat creepy ass cracker”. He could have gone to his dads, he was almost there and he was no longer being followed. He could have called police to report being followed… he didn’t though.
The confrontation only occurred because Martin decided it should. Zimmerman’s story is coo berated by eyewitness and physical evidence. Zimmerman was not guilty of 2nd degree murder.
@35 here’s a fun question for you- why was Trayvon staying at his father’s house? Oh wait, he was suspended after being caught with stolen property
@35 Luckily there was physical evidence, eye witness evidence etc. to go with GZ.
As for GZ suffering “karmic backlash”- You should be happy, because I believe he is already getting that. The man will always be ” white, cracker racist who killed a poor, innocent black child.” People will always “profile” him based on that event.
Hondo,
Zimmerman deserves no moment of grace to get his life back, he’s been a turd since he beat his wife and fought with the cops over his arrest in 05…he was able to get those charges reduced. I knew this case could not be won by the state, I said as much. But I am not going to apologize or stop denigrating Zimmerman.
Most folks here pile on the posers, who’ve killed no one, mercilessly and do so based on the poser’s past history of lies. Zimmerman’s past history indicates he’s a sh1tbag. I tend to believe he’s still one. That’s some sh1tty Karma and I am glad it’s not mine.
Demonizing the guy with a criminal past isn’t much of a stretch, I objected to demonizing the kid without a criminal past. I guess though because he wore a hoodie and flashed some gang hand signs that’s good enough for some folks here to figure he would end up being a criminal so they take the side of the guy with the known criminal record and history of medication to sooth his strained and fragile mind set.
From a standpoint of what was on the record and what was not on the record you are right to be concerned, we should all be concerned about cases tried in the media where a kid with no record other than suspension from school for dope was made to be a worse human than a wife beater who resisted arrest currently taking Temazepam to cope with his life.
It’s clearly a very divisive issue. I should just STFU and leave it at that….
My apologies all around for being a cantankerous old f$ck this morning…
I appreciate your time in reading my words, sorry to be a d1ck first thing on a Sunday morning.
I really appreciate you folks more than you know, even though we’ve never met I like your words, your viewpoints and your humor.
I really can’t explain why this p1sses me off me so much, it shouldn’t really. More people will die in NYC, Chicago, Detroit this weekend without a single national news story. I should be focusing on drawing attention there instead of this issue.
Again my apologies, no offense meant, sorry for rambling.
Zimmerman, after the confrontation with his fiancee (not wife) got a restraining order against her. leads me to believe that the judge saw the woman in question as the aggressor. not surprising, the butter ball couldnt even fight back against a woman, that Martin was wooping him. martin had several run ins with the cops for fighting, but because of his age, he was just returned to his mother. even if he had an arrest record, because he is a minor, it would be sealed! i never said zimmerman was a saint, but martin was a thug wanna be.
we pile on the posers here, because they deserve it. aside from ladner and a very few others, they dont really deserve to be shot. i ridicule Martin because he made a choice that cost him his life. i dont buy into this whole “respect for the dead” bull shit, they are dead, they dont care what i say. if Martin had lived, id still mock him for the choice he made (assumeing it became news enough for anyone to know about it). i find it funny when a thug wanna-be ends up on the losing end to his intended victim. if Zimmerman didnt have to go through this whole trial thing, this situation would be funnier
Again, VOV: what criminal past? If I remember correctly, Zimmerman’s 2005 arrest ended up with two charges dismissed and the third sent to a non-criminal pretrial diversion program – which I believe legally means he has no conviction on his record. The mutual restraining orders he and his wife (or girlfriend, not sure which) took out on each other resulted in no trial or conviction. Hell, even his more recent speeding ticket ended up getting pitched when the officer who wrote the citation was a no-show in court.
You cite his “criminal record”. Arrest or accusation does not equate to conviction. That’s why we have trials.
If you’re going to give Martin a pass for having no criminal record (even though there are indications of misdeeds in his past that didn’t result in a criminal conviction), then IMO Zimmerman deserves the same pass. Otherwise, both deserve to have their non-criminal past scrutinized equally. But don’t tell me one gets a pass and the other doesn’t. That’s BS, and I think you know that.
VOV, no need for appologies, you have said nothing offensive, derogatory, or demeaning to anyone here. we are like to voice our views, we never expect everyone to agree with us. (although yall should, im always right)
No worry from here, VOV. There is plenty about this case over which to be seriously conflicted and/or frustrated. Lots of quarters attempted (many successfully) obfuscation. It is all quite disgusting, and causing far more grief for all the parties than any of them should have had to endure.
So, it seems that the Sanford police were correct, way back when they said there was no probable cause to arrest Zimmerman.
As for a civil suit against Z, the Miami Herald said this, “The law also included a provision that grants “immunity” from prosecution or civil suit if a person is deemed to have acted in self-defense, though lawmakers did not clearly specify exactly who bestows the immunity.” So, Zimmerman’s lawyers have the ability to argue that any civil suit is not valid on it’s face and should be thrown out. Obviously, with the jury’s verdict, Zimmerman can be “deemed to have acted in self-defense”.
@42 No offense taken. It is easy to forget in this case that for whatever reason, a 17 year old is dead. You and your opinion reminds us of that fact. That’s a good thing.
Also no offense taken here, VOV. I get opinionated sometimes too – and often have to work at being objective.
How ever you may feel about the verdict, thug life picked the wrong guy to bow up on, and the facts support this. Personally he should have thrown the little shit a beating, but such is life when you put yours in the hands of someone who refuses to be a victim.
