False choices
There was a dipshit convergence in New York City today when the self-proclaimed smartest man on the planet teamed up with the biggest crybaby nanny on the planet – Joe Bite-Me and Michael Bloomberg met the families of Newtown once again for another gruesome press conference. From the Washington Times;
“For all those who say we shouldn’t and can’t ban assault weapons, for all of those who say the politics is too hard — how can they say that?” Mr. Biden said. “When you take a look at those 20 beautiful babies and what happened to them, and those six teachers and administrators.”
[…]
“For all those who say we shouldn’t or couldn’t ban high-capacity magazines, I just ask them one question — think about Newtown,” he said. “Tell me how it violates anyone’s constitutional right to be limited to a clip that holds 10 rounds instead of 30, or in Aurora, a hundred. This is a false choice being presented to the American people by those who are taking on our position here. Look, folks, we have a responsibility to act.”
Wanna talk false choices, Joe? You’ve already admitted that a scary-looking gun ban will accomplish nothing, that a ban wouldn’t make us safer, that the only reason you’re pushing for disarming law abiding Americans is because you feel a need to “do something” – your words, you ignorant little toad.
Then they drag out the families of the victims, like this Neil Heslin who lost his son in the carnage at Newtown;
“No child deserves to be murdered, brutally slaughtered the way these children were”.
And those of us who oppose the ban on guns just because their appearance scares some people aren’t saying that they deserved their fates. Neither do the millions of law abiding gun owners who don’t commit these terrible crimes deserve to be punished for the acts of a handful of criminals. It’s intellectually vacant to conflate legal gun owners with the criminals and to insinuate that eventually all of our guns are going to jump out of our safes and start indiscriminately killing children.
The false choices are those choices being offered by the Gun-Grabbing Fascists to mollify the perpetually frightened and the ignorant.

No law-abiding citizen needs to be subjected to draconian measures to prevent them from exercising their rights, Joe. But you don’t seem to have a problem with that.
“Tell me how it violates anyone’s constitutional right to be limited to a clip that holds 10 rounds instead of 30”
First, YOU tell me how many rounds I will need on the night perps invade my home to rob me and rape my wife and kids. How many perps will attack? At what time and at what engagement range? Will they have body armor? How many of the 10 shots I get off will hit? How many will miss?
Because if I have to swap mags in a close quarters assault, I will probably lose the fight and get killed. And my wife and kids are raped and murdered.
And you better hope I don’t survive it. A former Marine who family is killed because of YOUR stupid law has alot of time and nothing left to live for. You can be damn sure I will come after your ass.
“For all those who say we shouldn’t and can’t ban assault weapons, for all of those who say the politics is too hard — how can they say that?” Huh? I know his answers are stupid but he has now graduated to making the questions stupid. Jeez.
Dammit. I am not just any mouse. I am Anony Mouse!
Damn, Jonn – there you go using that “logic” stuff again. Haven’t you learned by now that the liberal anti-gun crowd is both unfamiliar with and immune to logic?
It’s not that they are unfamiliar with logic, Hondo. It’s just that it makes them feel sad so they don’t like using it.
This from the 4ssclown who advises folks to violate their local firearms ordinances and recklessly discharge into the air….to bad his dad didn’t recklessly discharge into the air, we wouldn’t have had to deal with Mr. Biden at in that case.

The comments above in # 2 and # 3 are deemed hypothetical for the purpose of discussion. These comments have been assessed by the MCPO and are hereby designated “NO THREAT free speech”!
However, without such notice and/or disclaimer, some leftist loons may believe something else was said!
I’m sure those extra two or three seconds it takes the next nutjob to reload his 3 ten round magazines will really save a lot of lives.
I hate this country more and more every day thanks to the morons who run it and the people who vote those morons in.
VP impersonator Joe “Bite Me” Biden incorrectly stated early today that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords had been “shot and mortally wounded”.
Can’t make this up!
Dunno, NRPax. I’m thinking many of them couldn’t define contrapositive. They’d probably equate inverse with “reciprocal”, and converse with a basketball shoe, too. And they’d think a syllogism was something from Comedy Central.
MCPO:
@13: I remember one caption for that picture that I loved.
“Number One, in the future let us remember-”
“Shagram-Cha is Klingon for ‘donkey show.’ Yes, Captain.”
False logic indeed. “Life is not a game, and human lives aren’t a commodity to be consumed, traded, or disposed of as is convenient to us. To use young children to shield Second Amendment policies from criticism is not just hypocritical; it’s cowardly, manipulative and worthy of contempt.”

“…to bad his dad didn’t recklessly discharge into the air,…”
LOLOLOLOL
Bahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
afternoon coffee …. everywhere!
I wish someone would ask The Moron the names of, oh, three of the slain children and one of the teachers. He’s met their parents. He’s invoked Newtown time and again. But there is no value in the names. The odds are 1-9 he can’t name two.
Its a bit long at 13 minutes, but this demonstration proves how asinine these magazine bans are:

Watch if you haven’t seen it yet.
@18 Spot on, their names don’t matter to the left because they don’t actually care about stopping murders just about advancing their agenda with respect to gun control legislation.
Stopping murders would require a discussion of the policies put in place by the left over the last 40 years that have contributed to the massive decline in education and living conditions for certain segments of our population while the left was supposedly helping those segments to advance….indeed the left helped them advance into a h3llish dependency on the government for food, shelter, clothing, and subsistence where there is little opportunity to advance beyond that dependency through educational opportunities that are non-existent in these destitute neighborhoods.
Liberals always point out how cruel the right is to expect each to learn to be responsible for themselves and their own families through the promise of education and hard work.
I say it is much more cruel to crush that hope and deprive them of that opportunity to pursue their own happiness. Living in squalor in the projects, while receiving a pretend education creates an environment where illegal firearms factor in heavily in advancing one’s financial position. Of course I am a racist for pointing out that the murderers and victims in NYC are mostly black and hispanic (90% of victims and 89% of perps), because apparently statistical information from the NYPD and FBI is racist at its core….don’t focus on the hard stuff libs, let’s use the idiot in the second seat in the White House as a mouthpiece to enact legislation that not only doesn’t stop the Adam Lanzas of the world but also does absolutely nothing to address the abject hopelessness of the very people the libs purport to care the most about, the downtrodden masses in the projects.
F#ck you leftist hypocrites, and f#ck those who would believe your bullsh1t.
False choices. How about the false choice of being a law abiding citizen forced to choose either our rights or “the law.”
A raving maniac killed those kids, but I don’t see raving maniacs being harassed and threateded the way we are.
Wrong video, although its not that bad either. This should be the one I was referring to:

Damn, VOV – you too? See comments 6 and 12.
@23 Nice!!
I’m in a mood today and am not tolerating lefty pukes very well at all at the moment…I know I am a long winded 4ss most of the time, but when the blood is up it can get much, much worse….often to my chagrin…
“No child deserves to be murdered, brutally slaughtered the way these children were”.
(1) Your child isn’t more important than my rights. Neither are you, sir.
Nor am I. Sorry, but there it is. Lots of people die because of the 4th and 5th Amendments, but so it goes.
(2)Did this guy care when it was black kids getting shot in Chicago? Somehow I doubt it. But, as somebody wise said, when the bad things come to never never land then we’re all up in arms.
@24 “…I know I am a long winded 4ss most of the time…”
And I’d take a dozen more just like you, in your worst mood, over one of the libidiots showcased above.
(And yes, I meant ‘libidiots.’ New word for the day.)
@26 well thanks darlin! that will indeed brighten the rest of my day.
@25 – Spade, no, no one from WDC showed up when kids on the south side were shot and killed in their own yards and homes by gangbangers. The only time ANYONE of those self-important drekks showed up was at Hadiyah Pendleton’s funeral, and I’m more sure than ever it was because she was in the inaugural parade.
Here’s a U of Chicago study on gun violence in school-age youth in Chicago. Read it when you have time.

Sorry, PintoNag, but I’ve gotta claim that one. I’ve been using that term off and on here for over a year – and elsewhere for about 4-5 years prior to that.

I didn’t invent the term (it dates to at least 1998) but I’m pretty sure that comment was the first time the term was used here at TAH. It’s the earliest use of the term Google search finds on the site.
It’s a damned apropos term, and I’m proud to have introduced it at TAH. (smile)
A must watch video by the “Virtual President” on gun control, the 2nd and 28th Amendments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=B5ELyG9V1SY#!
PN, Ex-PH2, VOV, et al,
I prefer the term “libtard”. It has a nicer ring and roll of the tongue.
I prefer “libtard” myself, although “libidiot” tells the truth just as nicely. A Conservative radio show host coined the phrase “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder”, and he was RIGHT, liberals prove that to be true 24/7 through their seeds and words!
Like Ron White said, “NO matter what you try, YOU CAN’T FIX STUPID, stupid is forever!”. I have absolutely no doubt that he was thinking about liberals when he came up with that!!
Heard an interview on the radio a couple of days ago with an ER doctor who had just treated a 3 year old who had been shot and killed, not the first little kid she’d seen die by gunfire. You 2nd amendment fanatics might consider what she said because that’s the way a lot of the nation feels now – she just doesn’t care about the other side’s arguments any more, there is no argument that can explain or justify seeing an innocent three year old die right in front of you. There just isn’t. A lot of people feel that way now. They don’t want to hear it, no matter how loud you shout.
To explain that an unending stream of dead children is the best we can hope for shows a huge lack of imagination.
You fucktard anti-gun nuts might want to consider that even if you outlawed EVERY SINGLE FUCKING GUN in this country, shit like this is going to happen.
Why? Engrave this on your fucking forehead, Joey:
CRIMINALS DON’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE FUCKING LAW!
One of these days, you’re going to understand that on one side, we have people who have a healthy respect for guns, and on your side, we have people who have an irrational fear of them.
But newsflash, dipshit–it ain’t about the gun. It’s about the person behind it. Capiche?
Now go fetch your fuckin shine box.
Proud Infidel: ah, but libidiot has a wonderful companion term that “libtard” lacks – libidiocy. And since so much libidiocy is due to misplaced libido, the terms libidiot and libidiocy sometimes work on multiple levels. (smile)
Hell, “Libidiocy” might be a damn good category in and of itself. Hmmmm . . . . .
Nice arguments NHS – people don’t care.
OK, Joe, let’s say your side is successful taking my guns from me – who, exactly, is safer?
No, Joe – only some people don’t care. Those people are the fools who recoil from confrontation and depend on “the authorities” to “keep them safe”. Reality is different.
Most violent crimes take only 2 or 3 minutes. You’re not going to see police show up that quickly unless you’re incredibly lucky.
Most people do care about protecting themselves and their families. If you don’t, that’s your business. But quit trying to tell everybody else how to live their own life.
More kids die by drowning in pools than are killed by gunfire. The world is a dangerous place and accidents happen. Or would you prefer that we wrap our children in bubblewrap and keep them in an empty padded room?
Whereas you are using Appeal to Emotion instead of any substantial facts, Joe. Thank you for playing.
NR Pax: were you actually expecting logical argument backed by substantial fact from Joe?
Not really. But I guess we can appreciate how consistent he is.
Your gentleness is blinding you, Joe. There is nothing wrong with being gentle, and wanting others to be gentle also. Where you err is in thinking that your ideal can or will become a reality. The reality is far more harsh. There are humans out there who don’t care what YOU think, and they’re not like us. They will take your property, use your body, and take your life, with no remorse, no guilt, and no pity. They will use any means necessary to accomplish their goal. When faced with someone like this, you have two choices: submit or fight. And the world being what it is, the harsh reality is that, even if you fight, you might still die. But we still chose to fight.
“…CHOOSE to fight.” Sorry. Fingers and brain not in synch yet this morning.
I guess it boils down to the fact that a lot of people feel that they would rather see guns eliminated and not be faced with the prospect of an unending procession of dead children even if it puts their own personal safety or that of their families at a little more risk. They rightly recognize that the current state of affairs is a black hole, a national death spiral that has to be broken.
Amendments can be repealed or amended, and more and more people are ready to do so. We’ll see if Michael Moore was precient when he stated that sooner or later someone is going to leak crime scene photos from Sandy Hook, and when they do, it will be a game changer. Rational or not, people are tired of hearing the same stale old arguments.
@45 You do realize that the very people who are pushing to disarm the populace are armed, and have highly trained, heavily armed body guards? You do see the disconnect between their words and their actions, don’t you?
But Pinto, those are people in the public eye who are lightning rods for whackos, not everyday people. Do I think the president and his family deserve extra protection by dint of their position and exposure? Sure, but that doesn’t neccesarily mean that we should all be armed to the teeth.
As grisly and depressing as the current statistics are, with the current trendlines they are going to get even worse. And then worse again. And after that, worse yet. It is an absolute death spiral.
So basically, you’re fine with “ordinary people” getting murdered as long as the “lightning rods” are protected.
Ordinary people are already getting murdered, a lot of them. More guns is not the answer.
@45 “national death spiral” ?
Actually once again the facts don’t corroborate your claim. Murder has been steadily decreasing in our nation every year for the last 20 years even with the AWB expiring.
The problem with reacting prior to an appropriate discussion of facts is that nothing of value occurs as a result.
As discussed previously, the proper path here is to propose and amendment to the constitution and get that ratified as outlined in the Constitution.
