NY State Police in Herkimer
I ripped this photo off from the US Infantry Face Book page. Judging from the patch on one of the officers’ shoulder, this is New York State police on duty in Herkimer, NY in the stand off with Kurt Meyers.
I’m guessing that the one guy with the AR is going to discover that it’s hard to hit anything with his rifle what with the EOTech on backwards. Baldy should get his booger hook off of the bang switch. Only the midget is in real Hollywood uniform with the sunglasses and a wad of dip. Yeah, let’s give them some tanks and drones, too.
Category: Dumbass Bullshit
It took me a minute to find the midget.
He’s short, it’s daylight, he’s wearing sunglasses and camouflage. Perfect disguise.
No wonder I didn’t see him.
P.S. Link to Facebook page is not working, but the 512.Xbow Eotech sight for crossbows is SO-O-O-O sexy. I want one.
After I zoomed in on the picture, it also appears that his weapon is on “SEMI.” Also, why would he have his BUIS up? Is his EOTech dead? There’s not a real good reason to co-witness his sights.
And, Baldy says “The eight steady hold factors are for chumps”.
From what I see it looks like he wants to get a new scar from the EOTECH as well.
Is the midget hunting bear? I counted eight shotgun shells in those cartridge holders.
That’s a super tactical sniper shotgun, that’s why the bald one is in that rock solid sniper position.
His BUIS is up because his EOTECH is not working correctly (in his mind). I don’t think you can see the sighting system from the front side. Secondly, if the law is in effect, that PMAG is illegal, it holds more than 7 founds. NY didn’t make allowances for LEO’s and haven’t corrected the law to my knowledge.
#7 I wonder if one could sue the NYS police for not following their own law?
Just tell me how you mount an electronic gunsight backwards?
Don’t those things come with written instructions? And pictures, in case someone can’t read?
I just really want to walk up to those three and tell the blond guy, “You’re really cute, but your EOTech sight’s on backwards.”
I don’t know Jonn, the image looks a little rough around the edges of the sight. Like it was photoshopped. Might explain why he has his BUIS up… Not trying to defend these clowns just saying it could have been created to make them look like even bigger fools (if that is possible.
30 round magazine in NY is illegal huh?
PH2, better question is “so tell me about your zero”….. “Crickets chirping”…….
OK … Ladies … I know many of these fine men. They are doing a good job. Let’s have a bit of fun, but let’s also pray that none of these fine LEO’s get hurt.
BTW … NYS Troopers are highly trained and of the best in the country!

Cops kill suspect in deadly NY shooting rampage
By MICHAEL HILL and JOHN KEKIS
Associated Press
NYS Troopers are highly trained and of the best in the country!
yea…looks like it
As per GOV “No Apparent Motive”
Reads this:
“Police say Myers sauntered into a barbershop Wednesday, coolly asked if the man cutting hair remembered him and then opened fire with a shotgun, the first shots in a burst of violence that would leave four dead, two critically wounded and people in this small village aching to find out what set the gunman off.”
@ 16 … If you know better … please enlighten me and or us!
They want to look like military, they need refective belts!
Engine blocks make great bullet barriers. Problem: Shorty has his nuts in the potential line of fire and the other two their legs.
I think you lose the argument of “highly” trained when one guy has his finger on the trigger while cradling his shotgun and the other has his optic on backwards and apparently couldn’t figure it out so he’s using his iron sights.
See, here’s the problem.
When the police shoot and kill someone who does not talk to anyone but drinks beer alone and then wants to know if the barber remembers him, no one will ever know what set him off. Or when. It’s likely that a long time ago, something set him off. He was just waiting.
In this case, it might have turned for the worse.
Here’s the original hi-res picture on LoHud.com. They were the people who put their local legal gun owners’ addresses on the internet. I’m pretty sure they aren’t smart enough to manipulate the picture.
It looks like the midget has more stuff on his body armour than I did in Iraq. We had a term for those kinds of people. It was “gear queer”.
What noGeaux said. WTH?
A gloved finger inside the trigger guard can get a tad risky too.
So why am I supposed to trust these guys with guns more than myself? Reminds me of a buddy that insisted he was an amazing shot, then proceeded to load the rounds into the magazine backwards and fight with the gun until we caught him. In short, this is a still from the new Three Stooges move right?
@ noGeaux … “I think you lose the argument of “highly” trained”
OK … As a former FED LEO with over 20 year accumulated LE experience (still works in LE field), I can say the NYSP ARE highly trained and of the best in the country.
This statement was not a point for argument. No argument here!
Certainly, some of the observations by my more congenial and experienced associates above have merit.
I count one NYSP Trooper in the photo.
We will find out later that a FBI, Crisis Management, SWAT Team and or JOINT FBI, NYSP, and Herkimer County Sherrif Team took this POS out.
But what do I know … reading the first hand accounts!
Jonn,
“Booger hook off of the bang switch” is now part of my son’s lexicon.
Red Ryder training is tuff too.
MCPO
@29, It is part of my 8 year old son’s also.
I’m using a rubber band rifle instead of a Red Ryder though.
CoD should be banned in the squad breakroom.
Yet the libbies tell us that police should be the only ones allowed to handle weapons?
Oy.
I started with my son very early, too, teaching him the rules of gun safety. My standing threat was that he would lose any toy gun that I caught him pointing at another person when he wasn’t playing war or cops and robbers with that person. He tried hard to hold back the tears one day when I smashed the toy gun against the garage floor. Never had another issue.
I have my own misgivings about the militarization of the civilian police over the last couple of decades. No disrespect to our law enforcement types on this site, but I don’t think that the justifications made for civilian law enforcement looking like they are doing a tactical catalog fashion show are valid. Every shooting, the pictures and videos from news outlets or local papers show police dressed in full battle rattle like they are patrolling the streets of some war zone. Then, you find out that these pics, in most of the stories, were taken well after the fact. What message does it send to the public to see a bunch of guys dressed in ACUs or Multi-cam going towards a house in Winter in Minnesota? Do they think we can’t see them? They roll up in armored vehicles with lights shining brightly and then get out of the vehicle dressed in camo. Plus, they whine about not being able to afford training, yet they’re rockin the latest tacticool do-dads and really cool black armored vehicle. Maybe they could have spent the money on training, before worrying about how they looked? The case in Arizona where the Marine was killed because some dumbfuck had a ND (had his booger hook on the bang switch, obviously) at the door and they all start shooting into the house, while there was a mother and child in the house and killing the Marine. Maybe if they would have spent the money on training instead of the cool weapons, vehicles, and gear, it wouldn’t have gone down like that?
I prefer the police dress and act like the police, instead of Rambo’s little brother.
My 19 year old son has known since he first fired a weapon (at about age 7 or 8) that you keep the “booger hook off the bang switch.” I even used the Basic Training method of the ‘washer balanced on the barrel’ to teach him to transition his finger and press the trigger without dropping the washer.
Right proud of him.
As for the morons in the above photo … appalling, just appalling. When I went through the police academy back in ’94 they told us if they ever saw us, in any situation except actually firing, with a finger on the trigger we’d be fired. We trained with the finger off the trigger until you actually had to fire the weapon. I am amazed that alleged “hi-speed” tac-team members would ever make this mistake. It should be ingrained in muscle memory from training.
Also, WTF? Gear not set up or installed properly on the M-4. Was this issued to him like this? Or is this his weapon and he ‘self-installed’ it backwards? Since it’s marked with white out with the initials “G.M.” near the butt I have to wonder if it isn’t an issued weapon that’s been incorrectly installed with the EOTech system by some sort of unit armorer or alleged gun smith.
Amateur hour … F’n amateur hour.
So, since his EOTech obviously wasn’t zeroed what do you think the odds are that his BUIS ever has been?
They get all that gear at a heavily discounted price from Uncle Sam (DoD). I’m just waiting for the shotgun ban amendment to appear here in the Empire State. State motto is “Excelsior” – too bad they think it applies only to taxes and laws and not jobs…
@36 – Spade …
Yeah, makes you wonder.
It baffles me how they can get a “pass” on high capacity magazines, weapons and can’t manage to attach a device properly, allow me to say that I went to the website and I’ve never attached one but it actually looks HARDER to attach it backwards, so kudos to the dude for doing things ass backwards just because is harder.
But honestly the trigger discipline of this dudes freaks me out, I don’t consider myself an “expert” on weapons but hell even I know “no finger in the trigger!!”, I’m pretty sure if someone did what baldie is doing there in the military he would get told off (at least) fast.
Maybe they want to recruit this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_VnY0GuusQ seems he has already the badge and the trigger discipline they require. (Brownie points if you manage NOT to duck or cringe at least once within the video)
PFM – they’ve forgotten the Latin meaning and now only associate the term with “wood shavings”.
@39: I would much rather watch this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcxt16xx84Q
She exercises proper handling, also.
@41 Ahhh yeah seen that! but .. can she do it with an EOTECH backwards and do a revolver spin? 😛
I personally like this one better http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5IHWpyTb_A but that’s because I like those guns.
Holy crap …. “booger hook, bang switch and a badge”
That badge would land him in jail in most jurisdictions!
That dude is a Threat!

When they were going through their obviously ‘extensive’ training, I wonder which instructor told ALL of them that common vehicle glass makes for good cover:

@43: Yeah, Master Chief, I have a couple friends that are prior IDF of the female persuasion and they post these pics all the time. Kinda makes ya want to be a practice dummy for hand to hand training with them 🙂
You know, seeing stuff like this maybe the NYPD SHOULD be limited to 7rd magazines with the rest of their subjects.
Holy SHIT!
First of all, the new EOTECHs come with the 123battery that is loaded from the side and only use one, so unless somebody has a blown up, enhanced photo that clearly shows that his is backwards, that is my guess what he is rocking.I highly doubt somebody would take a unsighted optic out. And the bald guy has his eyes down the sights, so he really isn’t breaking any rules with keeping his finger on the trigger.
@47 might just be me BUT! compare picture to http://www.eotech-inc.com/images/banners/rimfireboy.jpg now funny how the bright yellow sticker is showing on the left side of the kid (That picture is taken directly from EOTECH website) and .. oh boy! that yellow sticker is there on the right side of the dude! yep yep .. ass backwards
Now one picture is not enough I understand but see … the manual is kinda here http://www.eotech-inc.com/documents/EOLAD%20User%20Manual.pdf (wish I had that dude’s email I would gladly send him the link) figure 1-1 shows the device in use .. again .. might be me but looks backwards, now if we go to figure 2-1b shows the buttons (which are forward on the dude’s gun) so now I completely understand why he is using other sight he can’t adjust or maybe he is lefty! (no foul intended to all our lefties in this blog) to top it all figure 3-16 shows how it should look on M4/M16A and as I predicted (call me Nostradamus!) is ridiculously hard to set it up that way, imposible to use unless you reaaaally want to put your hand over your sights and see nothing to adjust …
Now baldie there, well he must be THE badest shot ever or the front sight is 6 feet over the barrel, if you follow the line of sight is imposible he is actually looking up the barrel he is clearly looking up and to the left, but then might be just me 🙂
just tell me why baldy is aiming his shotgun THROUGH the open hatch of the Humvee!!..aiming through the trunk…so did they remove the windshield in the front for a clear line of shot? does he realize that if he pulls that trigger by accident he will destroy their own truck?
The guy with the eotech mounted it quickly at the back of his vehicle as he responded to the scene. Once he realized his error he simply flipped up his rear iron sight. Yes both eotech and iron sights were previously zeroed. The badguy opened up on him with 5 rounds from his shotgun….eotech guy returned fire using his iron sight thru the backwards eotech and hit the badguy. That is why the badguy did not engage the LEO’s for the remainder of the standoff until they went in the following morning. Eotech guys only blunder here is for some reason he removed his eotech after his last qual. And regarding high capacity magazines….the new NYS laws do not apply to on-duty LEO’s.
@50 Rudy, so are you saying that this person is not well trained? because if you can’t setup an EOTECH while under pressure:
1. Why wasn’t the EOTECH setup before? He removed it and “forgot” to set it up again? well someone is not really careful about his eq is he?
2. He was not properly trained on that weapon, thus he is not an “expert” I swear the buttons should have helped to realize that, if he can’t be THAT cool under fire, maybe he shouldn’t be handling that weapon.
I had written a long rebuttal, links, sarcastic comments, etc. and all that but then I realized, when you are defending the imposible reason is the FIRST thing that goes out the door, and trying to defend this guy’s inability to handle his weapon, call him an expert then say that because of hist mastery of the weapon he can have high capacity magazines and other people don’t falls RIGHT on that category.
BTW all those pictures were taken by a jeweler, interestingly enough he carries so he was all relaxed and taking pics and blogging while Mr EOTECH here was literally so stressed he couldn’t setup his weapon.
Here is the story about the jeweler
http://polhudson.lohudblogs.com/2013/03/13/locked-down-mohawk-jeweler-i-am-in-the-crossfire/
and here is the facebook gallery, BTW you can see other cops with no armor behind ..

I’m all for they having the firepower they need, AFTER they are trained because if this are the guys that are going to defend me, no thank I’ll keep my guns.
