Make It Three for Four

| September 13, 2012

As in, “Three out of four countries where the US actively encouraged or stood by and did nothing when Arab Spring uprisings lead to a change in government.” That’s the number of such countries in which US diplomatic facilities have been attacked.  So far Tunisia remains the sole exception.

According to early reports, the US embassy compound in Yemen has been stormed.  It appears the Embassy buildings themselves were not penetrated. However, part of the Embassy compound was occupied, and the US flag at the Embassy compound was reportedly burned.

A key difference in Yemen is that the current Yemeni government is not dominated by Islamists and/or those linked to al Qaeda.  Yemeni security forces apparently were effective in restoring order shortly after the Embassy had been stormed.

No reports yet regarding casualties or damage to facilities.

US support for those Arab Spring uprisings is starting to look like a really good idea about now, isn’t it?

Yup.

This is turning into 1979, writ large.

If only we had a chance for a 1981 repeat.

Old Trooper

Well, Hondo, they are now saying they’re getting whipped up in Tunisia now, also.

Loach

Since nothing has happened in Afghanistan in decades its easy to forget the lessons learned there in the 80s. Oh wait a second…..

JP

Cut all aid, immediately and permanently.

They guys over at KGS NightWatch (open spource intel analysts) have some interesting reading at:
http://www.kforcegov.com/NightWatch/NightWatch_12000175.aspx

If the reports that the Ambassador to Egypt wouldn’t allow the Marine guards to carry live ammunition are correct, someone needs to be fired.

NHSparky

I’m still waiting for the usual Obama knob-gobblers to come in and crow about how wonderful this foreign policy shit’s working out lately….

Twist

Apparantly Al Jazeera is reporting that the director of the film in question is Egyptian not Isreali.

Tman

This whole thing is shady

http://news.yahoo.com/california-man-confirms-role-anti-islam-film-223333645.html

There are pictures floating around on the internet of Libyan citizens holding up signs showing support for America and/or denouncing violence.

Seems like there were a core group of those who attacked the embassy, using the cover of the film to “motivate” rioters.

PintoNag

If I remember correctly, most of the posters here predicted that things like this would happen, after seeing the “Arab Spring.” It would be nice if people in power would pay attention to the opinions of people who know what they’re talking about.

Here’s the latest on that film: the Feds are looking into the identity of the “Sam Bacile” (fake name) to see if he’s someone they have under investigation for fraud.

All of the actors in that film have issued a statement saying that ‘Bacile’ lied to them. Some of them are afraid for their lives and have gone into hiding, others are saying they are completely pissed off. One actress who had a bried part still had her part of the script, which shows that Mohamed’s name on the script was George. She’s extremely angry.

And Sam Bacile is in hiding. He should be. He’s dead meat on a fork.

And Karzai at least had the sense to block YouTube in Afghanistan, so that the film is not available for viewing.

Last, but certainly not least, there is a lengthening line of people in DC who are demonstrably pissed off at the White House. Not the suckups, of course — has anyone heard from Pelosi or her buddies lately? No?

If the purpose of bo’s administration was to make the USA look weak and ineffective, bravo, jackass! You done did that job, you cafard.

Twist

“About 15 key players from the Middle East — people from Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan and Iran, and a couple of Coptic Christians from Egypt — worked on the film”

Bacile claimed to be from Israel yet Israel says that there are no Israeli citizens that match his name.

The plot thickens.

The original call for protests in Egypt for late August had nothing to do with the video. As 9/11 approached, the brother of dead Al-Zarqawi used that moment to rally protesters. The video was publicized not long after that I believe.

The video was probably a tool to aid al qaeda types in mounting the deadly attacks. I mean, since when do those who protest against slights of islam/koran carry rocket launchers?

Ex-PH2

AFter listening to Hillary’s speech, and the basic rattling-on by newspeople in general, only one person actually had a clue — these demonstrations are entirely orchestrated, and done by people who hate Americans, not because we’ve actually done anything to them, but because we exist.

That’s it in a nutshell. It’s now spread over 10 or more countries, inclduing India. Friday is prayer day for muslims, which will include sermons from imams, which will give them all even more energy to go and set things on fire, burn things, shout slogans, wreck property, and all this for the camera. If the TV cameras weren’t there, and none of those twits had iPhones connected to the internet where they can post stuff in the blink of an eye, none of this would be going on.

Ex-PH2

Some Federal agency has tracked down the REAL name of the filmmaker. It is: Nakoula Basseley Nakoula.

He’s under federal investigation for massive fraud, so he’s hiding.

streetsweeper

How many here would care to bet, it was orchestrated via FB, MeetUp and Twitter once again?

Ex-PH2

Here’s part of an MSN article about the filmmaker: Man behind anti-Islam film reportedly is Egyptian-born ex-conBy Michael Isikoff, NBC News Updated 10:14 p.m. ET: A 55-year-old Egypt-born Coptic Christian man living in the Los Angeles area was a key figure behind the anti-Islam film “Innocence of Muslims,” blamed for sparking riots and protests in the Middle East, law enforcement officials told NBC News Thursday. Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, who is on probation after being convicted of financial crimes, also was twice sentenced to jail after being found guilty of intent to manufacture methamphetamine in the late 1990s, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said. Court records show that Nakoula also was convicted on federal fraud charges in Los Angeles in 2010. Among the conditions of his probation, Nakoula was barred from using “any online service at any location” without the prior approval of his probation officer, according to a copy of court records in the case. Note that last sentence: barred from using ANY ONLINE SERVICE AT ANY LOCATION without prior approval…. This guy needs to be found, tarred, feathered, put on a rail, and shipped off to the Great Nefud Desert, where he can wander until he wilts and dries up. Was it orchestrated? I’m sure it was. My guess is it’s Ayatollah Khameini, Khomeini’s successor in Teheran, who probably remembers the entire events of 1979-1980 quite clearly and is stirring up trouble, just to see what happens and who gets elected. He probably remembers Jimmy Carter hunkering down in his office in Washington while Reagan was out on the campaign trail against Carter. Carter was a weak sister, and Khomeini knew it, but there was a possibility, however slim it might be, that he might win, and that was behind overruning the US embassy and taking all those people hostage. I’d bet money it’s deja vu all over again, especially since Bo is out on the campaign trail, not taking meetings with Netanyahu, not in security/intel briefings, etc., basically glad-handing every shlub he can find in Las Vegas instead of doing his freaking job. If Bo wins this… Read more »

I love the way you Conservatives claim to love freedom until it is practiced by the “wrong” people. Yes, the protests in these countries is a good thing. It’s democracy in action. I believe in it.

Most of the evidence indicates that the actions which killed Americans was brought about by terrorists taking advantage of the protests as a cover NOT by the protest.

I mean Conservatives went ape dump over the ground zero mosque pictures of the Virgin Mary made up of fecal matter, they burn mosques in Southern States and should i mention the shooting of the Sikh’s by a conservative sicko?

I garundamntee you that if Al Jazeera or Osama Bin Laden or a prominent Muslim Government reportedly produced a video that depicted Christ as a “bastard” stated that he was a womanizer, pedophile and gay there’d be a sizeable number of Conservatives protesting. They might even burn the flag of the country reported to of made the video (remember, this film was labeled U.S. Productions).

Conservatise: Freedom for me, none for thee.

AW1 Tim

Man, Insipid, but you do twist facts to suit your purpose.

Democracy? If by democracy you mean the same sort of thuggish ballot-box stuffing that democrats and unions are using as their standard tactic, then yes, the mideastern elections were “democratic”.

The Muslim Brotherhood ran roughshod over those elections, the same way that the unions and mobs got Kennedy elected, and likely Obama.

No, these attacks were attacks upon the sovereign soil of these United States by AQ and the Muslim Brotherhood, using the pretext of a film as cover for their thugocratic actions.

This film has been available for viewing since at least July of this year. Why wait until now? Could it be to try and stir up the emotions of 9/11 in those raghead’s countries? Why yes, yes it could.

Islam, dear boy, is waging a war to the death with everyone and everything NOT named Islam. You and the other deniers and Islamic enablers might want to believe otherwise, but wishing and believing doesn’t alter the fact.

It is a choice of Western Civilization, and the enlightenment of humanity, or the 7th century hell of Islam. The two cannot coexist, nor have they ever.

Insipid

Likely Obama? The last “rigged” election was when the Supreme Court rigged the election for GW Bush. The rest of your bigoted post won’t be dignified with a response.

And this is where Hondo ignores outright bigotry in his own forum on his own thread and insists that I decry some lefty.

Insipid

So your excuse when you Lose this November will be- against all evidence- that “mobs” got President Obama elected.

It’s fine by me if you never notice that three fingers are pointed back at you.

Just Plain Jason

Yes insipid ignore intelligence reports…you know what I think I’ll just go take my dick and flatten it with a hammer because it will be 3x as productive and less painful than attempting to have a meaningful discussion with you.

Insipid

You’re the one ignoring intelligence reports. Those that state that this was a planned terrorist attack and NOT the result of protests. Of course Conservatives have a long and shameful history of ignoring intelligence reports. If GWB had paid attentiont to them there may havve been no 911.

As far as your dick goes, wack away, god forbid you should breed with it.

NHSparky

How about the fact that your beloved Teleprompter Jebus IGNORED the warnings of the attacks and did nothing, sippy?

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/revealed-inside-story-of-us-envoys-assassination-8135797.html

You should really stop drunk posting, sippy.

Oh, and sippy? Let’s play your game, the one that GWB “ignored” the August 2001 warnings about Al Q. Let’s say he had bombed the living shit out of everyone and anyone to prevent 9/11.

Does that mean you would have supported it? Would your fellow traveller leftards be singing GWB’s praises for taking out the bad guys before they could strike?

Now go eat a fat bag of dicks. I already know what you’re going to say.

Insipid

Great, Sparky, i Can’t quote the New York Times but you get to quote a British Tabloid and the fucking Daily Caller as completely unvarnished honest news. It must be nice living in Right Wing world where the only “Truth” that gets in is that which you already “know”.

It wasn’t JUST August 2001 that he ignored. He was ignoring memos from as far back as May 1st. He didn’t need to bomb anything, just place the airports on high alert and do the same kind of heightened security that Clinton used to prevent disaster on Jan 1st 2000. But that was a competant president.

It’s hard for me to have an apetite to eat anything having to wade through the constant bullshit you spew.

Insipid

Oh, since that article is fair game i guess this is too. Bush TOTALLY knew about 911 before it happened! Look i got a website that says so!

http://www.angelfire.com/linux/pearly/htmls/bush-911.html

Redacted1775

If anything, the messiah’s response (or lack thereof) to the murder of American citizens abroad just shows us how inept he is when it comes to foreign policy, just as he’s inept regarding domestic policy. This should surprise no one. Mitt Romney’s remarks regarding the attacks were, for lack of a better word, PRESIDENTIAL.

NHSparky

A Brit tabloid? Seems the only “tabloid” in Britain is the Sun, at least since “News of the World” went bye-bye.

Whazza matta, sippy? Don’t like the fact that a British news source will report the news this media won’t?

Bottom line–Obama is WORSE than Carter. At least Carter had the excuse that he didn’t have himself as an example of what NOT to do.

Nice to see you’re stepping up and taking credit for that “Arab Spring” now that it’s turning to warm runny shit in your hands, sippy.

Again–you + drunk posting = sippy looks teh dum. Don’t do it, man!

Insipid

How in the hell is the Arab Spring “Turning to shit?” Even the article you just gave me stated that the attack was due to terrorists, not protetstors. What I see is thousands of people protesting peacefully. Yes, an American flag was burned. American flags get burned in our Country.

Whenever someone exercises their 2nd amendment “rights” in this country by shooting up a theater or a temple or blowing up the Murah building the right insists that gun rights can’t be curbed an iota. But if brown people in far off places exercise their rights to peacably assemble or if they burn a flag than democracy must be stopped at all cost.

Again, freedome for thee, none for me.

Redacted1775

I’m starting to think insipid here is the fully retarded love child of Alan Colmes and Rachel Maddow.

Insipid

Since you lurve the British papers so much, NHsparky here’s one that tells the story of how Jeb and George Bush purged black voters to steal the Presidency for W:

http://ballotbandits.wordpress.com/2012/05/09/billionaires-ballot-bandits/

Insipid

Redacteds comments always reminds me why there are so many great Conservative comedians…. Oh, wait, there are no great Conservative comedians. Never mind.

NHSparky

How in the hell is the Arab Spring “Turning to shit?”

Perhaps you’ve neglected to turn on a television or read a newspaper/online story within the past few days, m’boy?

What I see is thousands of people protesting peacefully.

I wouldn’t call the invasion of soverign American territory in at least three countries and the murder of four citizens (including a member of our Diplomatic Corps) “protesting peacefully.”

As has been stated earlier, in these countries, NOTHING happens on this scale without the government/authorities ALLOWING it to happen.

For you to claim that the First Amendment 1–extends to people outside the US, 2–allows “brown people” (your words, not mine) to murder someone, well, I got a bridge to sell ya, sippy.

What you’re seeing in Egypt, Libya, et al, AIN’T democracy in action. It’s one dictatorship being replaced with another–or worse yet, a religious caliphate on par with the Taliban, or answerable only to those pulling the strings in Tehran.

Care to discuss that possibility, sippy?

Redacted1775

Well I thought it was funny. No one here cares what you think anyways because you’re completely out of your mind. I bet if we tally up all of your GWB references on this site it would be in the millions. It’s like some kind of mental disorder with you.

Insipid

So rules for conservative protesting:

Protestors disrupting Democratic Town hall meetings: good!
Protestors declaring that they Hate the flag and want to secede: good!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubzG1CFi8cs

But peacefull Wall stree protestors: Horrible!
Peaceful people protesting a movie in far off lands: must be stopped!

Insipid

The “mental disorder” is that you guys seem to of forgotten that he existed:

Redacted1775

Furthermore it must really take a twisted mind to equate mass shootings to “exercising 2nd amendment rights”. Seriously man wtf is wrong with you?

Insipid

According to YOUR OWN FUCKING SOURCE Sparky the protesters had NOTHING to do with the murders. Or is it your cotention that the only part of YOUR source that is accurate is the ONE paragraph that says our intelligence fucked up? The Libyan government denounced the murders. Other than that most of the protests seem pretty similar to a Wall Street or tea party rally.

Insipid

There is a sizable number of 2nd amendment nuts that have postulated that the main purpose of the 2nd amendment is to allow us to take up arms against the government. So I’M not the “twisted mind” some people on this blog have postulated that more than once.

Insipid

Oh, Redacted what do you think “Second Amendment Remedies” means? Or is the same malady that prevents you from remembering 4 years ago also keeping you from remembering 2 years ago?

Redacted1775

Oh and not to mention the idea we just want the anointed one tossed out because we’re all racist, yeah, it has nothing to do with the fact he has no fucking clue what he’s doing, nope that’s not it at all. We’re all just racist. Come on man do you really think anyone takes you seriously anymore?

Redacted1775

Well if what you believe were true, with the millions of firearms owners in this country, we’d have mass murders on a daily basis, probably more than a few each day. The fact this doesn’t happen just proves how out of touch with reality you are. Time to get back on your meds, sip.

Insipid

Obama was elected, by a large margin in fact. You must be getting him mixed up with GWB, the appointed one. I never accused you of being racist, I accused A1 Tim of being racist and of your not liking democracy practiced in countries that are Muslim and brown.

As far as Obama goes, i think the President that has saved us from a great depression, saved the auto industry, reformed health care, and ended too big to fail knows what he is doing.

Insipid

Believing something and acting on it are two different things. There are who people believe we’re at war with the government. I just posted a rally of them a little bit ago. There have been folks ON THIS SITE that have posted that theory.

I agree with you that it is a crazy theory, but there are right wingers that hold it. Again, there’s some comentors here that have said the same thing.

Redacted1775

Pills sip. Take em.

NHSparky

Obama was elected, by a large margin in fact.

I wouldn’t exactly call 52 percent a “large margin”, would you?

Insipid

Well, let’s compare. He got 7.2% more than McCaine and he got 9.5 million more votes.

Compare that to George W. Bush who beat Kerry by 2.46% and only got 3 million more popular votes and he lost the popular vote to Al Gore by 0.51% and half a million votes. But of course after landslide George “won” in 2000 you were all very quick to proclaim that ONLY the electoral college matters. So, let’s look at the only thing that matters shall we?

Barack Obama: 2008: 365 electoral votes
Gwb: 2004: 286 electoral votes
GWB: 2000: 271 electoral votes (a “landslide” of 2)

So yes, I would consider this a “large margin”. Especially after the Bush administration’s arrogance after their paltry margin of victory. In fact, it looks to me like GWB had the lowest margin of victory of any incumbent in history:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_presidential_elections_by_popular_vote_margin

Oh, and the electoral map today:
Barack Hussein Obama 332
Willard Mitt Romney: 206

http://www.electoral-vote.com/

Apparrently the rest of the States does not share your collective amnesia concerning the Bush years.

NHSparky

He also seems to forget that only 2Dem candidates have pulled over 50 percent ofthe popular vote in the last 48 years…Obama got 52 percent and Carter got 50.1. Some resounding landslides….yup.
