This is too good to save for the top of the week article. Remember this guy? The Bernie Sanders-lookin’ fella who was arrested moments after Charlie Kirk was shot, saying he did it? *switch to Morgan Freeman voice* He didn’t.
He was trying to confound (somewhat successfully) responding officers to allow the actual shooter to escape. After being brought back to the police department, while they were sorting things out, the guy was taken to the hospital. He’s also a well-known local provocateur at protests, so they might have had an inkling early on that he wasn’t actually the shooter.
At the hospital he apparently confessed, then let the cops look at his phone, but not before admitting there might be child porn on it. They say he made even more confessions, and is now being charged with those crimes in addition to his obstruction of the shooting investigation.
This might be the dumbest guy of the year. Pro tip: If you’re a pedo with incriminating information on your phone, you should probably not falsely admit to being an assassin to get arrested, wherein your phone will be searched. I’m no lawer though.
The elderly rabble-rouser who allegedly hindered Utah authorities’ response after Charlie Kirk was fatally shot is now accused of keeping “graphic” sexual photos of children on his phone, according to law enforcement.
George Zinn, 71, was charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor Monday after investigators found more than 20 images of kids as young as 5 years old, at least partially naked and “posing” in a “sexual” way, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Tuesday.
“Zinn admitted … that he gets sexual gratification from viewing and sharing [child sexual abuse material] images with others, and that his preferred victim age is 5 to 12 years old,” the agency alleged.
Zinn, who is a political “gadfly,” is also facing a charge of obstruction of justice after he allegedly admitted to screaming that he shot Kirk on a Utah college campus Wednesday in a bid to help the actual shooter get away.
The alleged senior citizen sicko was initially hauled off to campus police headquarters, where he refused to cooperate, but was soon taken to the hospital for a medical problem, authorities said.
He ‘fessed up to not being the shooter there, and investigators successfully requested if they could take a look at his phone.
As he handed it over, Zinn admitted to state and federal agents that he uses the electronic device to check out inappropriate images of children, the sheriff’s office said.
“Those Agents did see several images on the phone of prepubescent girls scantily dressed,” the agency said.
A search warrant was obtained Monday that led investigators to find the 20-plus illicit images and “several very graphic sexual text threads in which Zinn shared images with other parties,” according to authorities.
Zinn is being held in county jail.
Footage of the old man being cuffed and dragged away quickly circulated online in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
He reportedly screamed “I shot him, now shoot me,” even though he was unarmed at the time of his arrest.
He later told police he wanted to cause a distraction for the real gunman, but also said he “wanted to be a martyr for the person who was shot,” according to court docs obtained by Fox 13.
Zinn’s actions stalled the probe into Kirk’s killing and wasted law enforcement resources, authorities have said.
Zinn is a familiar face locally and has gained a notorious reputation for showing up at events and often getting tossed out.
He faces numerous trespassing arrests as a result.
“Almost every political event you can think of, there was always George somewhere in the background, listening,” Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill told The Salt Lake Tribune.
The charges against Zinn come as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who police believe actually shot Kirk, was hit with aggravated murder and other felony counts Tuesday.
Robinson was captured more than 30 hours after he allegedly assassinated the popular conservative commentator and married father of two.
Authorities also made clear there is no evidence Robinson and Zinn colluded during the assassination. Funeral arrangements for Kirk, 31, are set for Sunday at State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals.

Somehow, I am not surprised in the least, about any of this. If you’re crazy enough to try to screen for an assassin, there’s clearly other things wrong with you.

No surprise to me, and he’ll have to be kept in PC, Protective Custody, referred to as “Punk Central” by those in general population if he wants to stay alive. In there he’ll be cooped up for 23 hours a day with 1 hour in an exercise pen, I’m sure he’s already regretting running his mouth because it’s obvious what’ll happen to him in lockup when he runs his mouth!
At 71 years of age, a life sentence won’t be that long. Less if somebody on the inside gets to him. Im willing to bet a pedos time in jail is measured by hours or days.
I would also like them to have a thorough look -including a warranted search of his electronic devices- at the guy who asked that oddly prescient question that Kirk was answering when he was shot. I’d like also to know if there’s footage of his immediate reaction when the shot happened.

From reading the messages he sent his “room mate” I don’t think he had any other people involved. In fact, this was poorly planned if he thought he could get away with it. He dropped his rifle into a bush wrapped in a towel. He changed clothes and didn’t carry them away in his backpack. He left prints on the building. He didn’t retrieve his brass…he actually put MESSAGES on his brass…this kid was no professional assassin.

It does sound like there was online chatter in a discord group he was associated with, talking about something big happening that day, and to Charlie.. I’d say it’s too early to tell how many people were in on it.
It could be a group of people in the area who planned it out. Plenty of criminal conspiracies involve amateur crooks or morons. Think of a group of dudes planning to rob a bank or something similar.
“I’ll be celebrated by my comrades on the Left for the sacrifices I made to protect the shooter!” It was supposed to be easy. Draw attention to himself, distract police and bystanders, get detained temporarily, and walk away scot-free with maybe a couple of misdemeanor charges. The cops look incompetent arresting an “innocent” senior citizen, he gets a stern talking to from a judge and pays a fine, and then it’s on to the next political event.
I don’t have anything to hide on my devices. That said, if I know I’m going to act the fool with the possibility of getting arrested, my phones are staying at home. If/when a warrant is obtained, they’ll find a bunch of pictures of my dogs, some tactically acquired memes from this site and others, and (allegedly) some instructional videos with attractive women well above the age of consent demonstrating how flexible they are.
The fringe Left are special individuals, so I’m sure that Pedo Zinn will be embraced by many regardless. All he has to do is identify as a MAP, and he checks the box for being a protected person. But in his eagerness to protect a murderer and gain some fleeting notoriety, he’s marked himself as a vile enemy of anyone who isn’t inflicted with mental illness–Left, Center, or Right.
