Trump Says US Forces Sank Third Suspected Drug Boat off Venezuela

U.S. naval forces in the Caribbean have sunk a third alleged drug-running boat off the coast of Venezuela, President Donald Trump said Tuesday.
“We knocked off, actually, three boats – not two – but you saw two,” Trump said on the White House lawn, following the release of footage Monday showing three alleged drug smugglers being killed in a U.S. airstrike. That came after a strike on Sept. 2, in which 11 people aboard a similar vessel were reportedly killed.
The president did not say how many people were killed in the third strike.’
The president was responding to statements by Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, who accused the U.S. of plotting an invasion of his country.
“Stop sending members of the Tren de Aragua to the United States. Stop sending drugs to the United States,” Trump said.
The latest announcement came a day after the president posted on social media that U.S. forces had attacked a boat leaving Venezuela, killing three individuals he referred to as “terrorists.” Later that day, from the Oval Office, he stated that the targeted vessel had been carrying cocaine and fentanyl.
If once is an anomaly and twice is a trend, third time gets even Maduro’s attention.

3 boats in 2 weeks is hardly a measure of success. How many dozens or hundreds did we not strike? We need to strike the loading areas and drug labs.
Good job! Keep it up, please. Sooner or later, I believe the people of Venezuela will rise and overthrow this cult of personality dictator. Or perhaps one of his opponents in government, the military, or a political rival will gain enough traction to oust him.
I rather like this new direction in the War on Drugs. The only problem is, missiles are far too damn expensive for this job.
Perhaps Maduro and the cartels will start taking the hint. We’re damn tired of their poisons killing our citizens.
Maybe if the Somalis are still practicing piracy some of their motherships might justify the cost of some of the taxpayers’ ordnance.

I’m all about killing drug dealers but I wish they’d release some intel and or targeting data on these guys so my arguments with libs would shift from “he’s killing human traffickers and innocent victims!!!” to “he made up all the evidence!!!”
It’s incredible trying to discuss this stuff with people who willfully refuse to see or admit to any evidence. They always transmogrify it into the most contorted thing possible to evade seeing reality. (See, for example, “Robinson killed Kirk because he wasn’t conservative enough!!” Head in Sand Syndrome.
Until this legality issue is ironed out, Narco boat crewmen might want to contact Narco Human Resources for a possible transfer to the Coca Leaf Picking Division.
Have to wonder how much of a dent we could put in the drug smuggler’s hiring difficulties if we sank every drug smuggling vessel with crew aboard every time. You would think after a while that finding crew members would get more difficult.
Somewhere I read years ago, towards the end of WW2, a couple of weeks before the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japanese merchant crews were risking execution because there were refusing to go out to sea due to the huge number of B-29-dropped mines surrounding the home islands.
They don’t care. It is too much money even when the risk of death is very high.
We sunk 3 out of how many hundreds of drug boats? The betting odds are still very good for the drug smugglers because our targeting process requires almost certain proof.
Maybe we should bring back letters of Marque. I’m down for a third career hunting down drug smugglers.
The problem is that letters of marque and reprisal don’t cover the costs of hunting drug smugglers, and you won’t be able to sell the cargo.
Personally, I think it would be better used against oil exporting nations who try to bypass sanctions. Blood for oil, for real this time.
Maybe if they put a bounty or reward on the capture of smugglers or the evidence?
This is shooting down arrows instead of killing the archer and is a waste of resources like shooting down Houthi drones. We need to strike the loading docks, drug labs, drug sub manufacturer facilities, etc inside Venezuela. We will not have the permission of the Maduro regime, but his Air Force is negligible and we can use EW on his Air Defenses.
Let’s see what overripe plantain (that is Maduro means) has to say when we strike his precious drug infrastructure!
