Wednesday redux… USAID report

| February 12, 2025 | 42 Comments

Here’s a radical thought – entitle a column Wednesday and actually publish it Wednesday. The really sad part – when we write a column, we fill in what date and time for it to publish (see below), and as you can see in the above: I keep a calendar a whole 3″ from the keyboard and still screwed it up.

Well, we have been hearing how Musk/DOGE has targeted United States Agency for International Development (USAID).  We have seen reports that they disbursed large sums of money to media organizations which favor the Democrats, which is already concerning. Now, Middle East Forum think tank has released a multi-year study of disbursemenets which, if true, makes you want to find a wall,  some willing volunteers, and suitable armaments.

“The Middle East Forum’s multi-year study of USAID and State Department spending has uncovered $164 million of approved grants to radical organizations, with at least $122 million going to groups aligned with designated terrorists and their supporters,” the conservative think tank wrote in its report published Feb. 4.

Seemingly, not only does USAID not vet their donees, the government hasn’t seemed to care about them.

The Middle East Forum’s report focuses specifically on funds from USAID and the State Department that wound up in the hands of radical groups and organizations tied to terrorism.

The think tank reported that among its top findings, USAID was found to have given more than $900,000 to a “Gaza-based terror charity” called Bayader Association for Environment and Development. The funding began in 2016, and its most recent allocation was made just days before Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023

“??But USAID coordinates directly with Bayader as well,” according to the report. “USAID officials have praised Bayader’s work on social media, and even visited Bayader’s offices, where one senior USAID official, Jonathan Kamin, received an award from the terror-linked charity.”

The report also found that USAID approved a $12.5 million grant in 2024 to the American Near East Refugee Agency, which is also “a long-standing partner” of Bayader. The American Near East Refugee Agency is an NGO that was established in 1968 in an effort to assist refugees following the Arab-Israeli War.

The report found staffers with the NGO have repeatedly and publicly posted “violent ideas, without apparent censure from top charity officials.” The comments on social media posted by employees include: calling on God to “erase the Jews,” expressing support for the “brave prisoners” in Israeli jails during the Hamas-Israel war, and describing Oct. 7, 2023, as a “beautiful morning.”

Certainly where we think our funding should go. Per Sam Westrop, the director of the Middle East Forum’s counter-extremism project:

“USAID won’t even tell us how much they gave the Unlimited Friends Association, a Gaza terror charity which operates with help from Hamas. The head of the charity promises to ‘cleanse’ their land of ‘impure Jews,’” Westrop posted in the thread of an example.

“USAID gave millions to Islamic Relief, whose Gaza branch openly works with senior terrorist officials in Gaza, including Hamas politburo member Ghazi Hamad. who promised that Hamas would repeat Oct 7 attacks ‘time and again until Israel is annihilated,’” he posted in another example from the report.  Fox News

Enlisted barracks falling apart because we don’t have money to maintain them…and millions funneled to terrorists.  Wall, volunteers, etc.

If it makes you feel better, David, I work graveyard, and even with multiple calendars, I usually can’t tell you what day it is off the top of my head. I confuse myself and my lead constantly trying to report important issues lol.

Regarding the article: Considering what Elon said at the presser yesterday, I’m not surprised at all. Since Treasury doesn’t even do basic crap like classify payments, describe what they’re for, or pay attention to the ‘Do Not Pay’ list (which takes a year or more to get added to, as well!), I’m completely unsurprised we’re paying terror organizations, even WITHOUT considering the ideologues we have all over the government.

I’m just waiting for Elon and Trump to reveal we’ve surpassed Iran for funding terror organizations now…would explain quite a bit about our twenty year stay in the sandbox…

I used to work rotating shifts and during that I’d have to look at my watch to remember what day of the week it was while at work! During my OTR Trucking days I’d have to look at my logbook just to remember the States I’d been to or through the past three days.

5JC

How do you harass someone at a press conference while he has a toddler playing on his head? Not easy I’ll tell you.

Commissar

You mean the human shield he started carrying around on his shoulders the day after the United Health CEO was shot?

Even the mother of his child has been publicly asking him to stop.

5JC

Your perspective as a potential assassin is interesting. His ex’s view as someone in a custody dispute is noted, although not for the violent reasons you suggest.

SFC D

You’ve been publicly asked to stop here at TAH. Ain’t working out so good here either.

Have a nice day snookums.

Forest Bondurant

Every politician and bureaucrat who has allowed taxpayer dollars to be funneled to organizations such as this should be charged and convicted under 18 USC Section 2381: “Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”

Some assembly required.

What’s even sadder is that many of the guilty won’t be held accountable in THIS life, they’ll get Justice in the next.

5JC

Justice in the next life is even juicier. We just don’t get the satisfaction of seeing it happen.

Maybe a trebuchet, with an open box next to it that says acme. Of course, leave the ship to address visible. Wily Coyote.

Commissar

It is a bullshit report by a political action group.

USAiD’s budget with line item spending has been uploaded online for the Americans to scrutinize every year for the last twenty years.

It is one of the most transparent agencies in America. In fact it may be the most transparent.

It is has been required by law to publicly and upload to their website their entire budget and spending since Bush Jr. signed it into law, and both senators Biden and Obama voted for the legislation.

Yet, now they are “discovering” them?

These “revelations” were available for anyone to discover at any time over the last 20 years. And they are being twisted into something they are not by a hack political action group.

Bullshit, it is twisted lies to dupe an easily manipulated public to justify dismantling an agency after the fact.

Just like that false claim USAID spent $8M on Politico.

It is twisted facts and outright lies.

5JC

How did you write all those lies without seizing up?

MIRanger

Funny you point that out now that it has been shut down… I will definitely be looking this one up!

SFC D

It is twisted facts and outright lies.”

That just about covers 99% of every screed you’ve ever posted here, except the present post. It is 100% twisted facts and outright lies.

Show me the facts, oh wise Commissar. I’ll be needing a link to the website, screenshots, anything but your word. I’ll add it to the list of proof you owe me. You’re a fraud and a misguided, indoctrinated stooge.

Forest Bondurant

As if any federal agency actually discloses how money is actually being spent…

It’s a miracle you’ve survived this long.

You’re just upset because now the truth is being exposed and there are chances for a reckoning.

Go stock up your med kit and freeze some water bottles. Your party is gearing up for mostly peaceful protests somewhere.

You may resume collecting empirical data and fucking off.

EX-USAID CHIEF SAMANTHA POWER’S NET WORTH SKYROCKETS—FROM $6.7M TO $30M ON A $180K SALARY

Samantha Power, Biden’s ex-USAID chief, saw her wealth explode while earning just $180K per year.

Where did the extra $23.3M come from? And all of this in just 3 years!”

Wondering where else the money has gone…

Deckie

I see shit like this and think, “ok? why is what they’re doing bad again..?” Expose it all — in all departments and in all the little nooks and crannies. Let people see why bills are 10,000 pages and what their elected reps push at the cost of their hard earned ((stolen)) dollars and very likely none of their own as they get richer themselves.

That it has them so riled up and angry isn’t a good look for a party already reeling from an enormous clobbering and desperately gasping for breath.

I think they are worried not so much about the youth not understanding what is going on; but more about them really understanding what is going on.

Commissar

Post hoc justifications and misinformation for their bullshit dismantling of an agency Trump and Musk both had a vendetta against. Nearly everything being released by Trump on USAID is a lie or stretching the truth.

He isn’t going after USAID for corruption. It is a tiny agency with a budget that is less than 0.6% which uploads its entire budget online for America to read line by line and has done so for twenty years.

It is one of the most transparent agencies in government from the perspective of funding,

And every “revelation” being disclosed by the Trump administration is information that was already online and available to the public.

Why aren’t you posting about how Musk sold compromised StarLink systems for USAID to be given to Ukraine? And the the IG was investigating that?

Which led to the revelation that Musk had undisclosed meetings with Putin.

Also, USAID was tasked with assisting former Soviet Republics in combating the extraction of wealth by Russian Oligarchs as they transitioned to market economies.

Trump was laundering money for Russian oligarchs and USAID collected hundreds of documents related to the Trump organization’s involvement in laundering money for Russian oligarchs.

I personally saw some of these source documents and personally read the policy white paper the USAID drafted for Congress for policy changes to help combat money laundering by western firms which were complicit in helping Russian oligarchs steal trillions from transitioning Soviet republics,

The Trump organization was used as an example of that activity. In the paper. With source documents.

I posted about this before, years ago here.

This paper was drafted more than a decade before Trump ran for office.

USAID cost Trump money. He had a vendetta.

There is a reason Trump’s campaign manager in his first campaign was also a money launderer for Russian oligarchs. And an unregistered foreign agent working in Ukraine on behalf of Russia.

Deckie

Still find it amusing you post here after saying you were done with everyone at least what… twice?

With the large gaps I had hopes you finally found a job or maybe went and helped with the wildfires but… nope.

5JC

Been a lot more than twice. I can recall at least four times and I don’t post here all the time either.

Forest Bondurant

Here you go dickhead.

He probably believes the CIA white paper saying that the CIA involvement in the JFK murder was Russian disinformation.

5JC

I make .6% of the Federal Budget at $40,800,000,000. It’s stupid attitudes like yours that have trillions in debt for no reason. This is why you are poor. You don’t understand the value of money or how it works. TINSTAAFL.

Just so we understand, you are fine with supporting terrorists with US tax dollars. You and I aren’t the same. You are a crazy violent jihadist that the FBI (when fixed) should probably be looking into. I’ve spent half my life fighting your ilk and certainly won’t stop now.

SFC D

Pics or it didn’t happen. Show me. Prove all your statements. I’ll bet dollars to dogturds you can’t.

Blaster

Uuummm!!! NO!!

He you are again screeching about President Trump, doing what the American people voted him into the Presidency to do, while at the same time and for the last four years, giving a free pass to Biden and the Democrat criminals. You have no reason to not know better. You choose not to. That’s an embarrassment for a former officer of the United States Military. Shame on you!

Fyrfighter

Biden is on film bragging about getting the prosecutor looking into the company funneling money to him through hunter fired, and frauds like Commissar are perfectly ok with that..

Deckie

I think the democrats are chanting, cursing, wailing and collecting sympathetic judges to stop this exposure because “wall, weapons, volunteers” is exactly what they fear once Americans know where their money is really going instead of… well… helping America and Americans. If it exposes many on the other side of the aisle all the better. I wouldn’t feel the least bit sorry if this was a revelation akin to exposing life on other planets in the sense that it folds trust in government and causes a purge. They work for us and need to remember they’re subordinate to the people (something Maxine and her brain dead friends forgot when screaming at the security guard outside the DOE office…)

I hope they’re puking from fear behind the scenes. Sincerely.

5JC

On Monday DOGE found out that the Federal Government can only physically process 10,000 retirements a month. If they started to retire every one of them tomorrow, it would take 25 years to get them all done assuming they hired no one new.

Telephone key pads and adding machine/calculator keypads are exactly opposite. In tax season, I often “dial” wrong numbers

SFC D

If USAID had just quietly gone about their business as a financial front for the CIA as was intended, we wouldn’t be having all these problems.

26Limabeans

I’ll bet UNICEF is watching the USAID situation closely.
I was just a little kid when they took over Halloween with their
fundraising by having kids ask for donations instead of candy.
Child abuse I tell ya.

KoB

Getting old ain’t for sissies, David. “Let he who is without lapse throw the first reminder.” “To err is human…to really f*ck up, you need a computer.”

The parasites are whining cause their piggy bank of graft is drying up. The “joke” about “Foreign Aid” is now called “Money Laundering” is not a joke. This is why we can’t have nice things.

Good news is the spapos has shown back up so we’ll have a nice comment count so there is that.

HT3

DOGE says there are people 150 years old (born in 1874) receiving Social Security checks which aligns with the GAO, not Trump/Elon/DOGE, saying we’ve had $2.7 TRILLION spent on improper payments since 2003. But our precious Commissar doesn’t think anybody should check the government’s books. They amount waste at the DoD will be mind boggling to most, but us veterans won’t be too surprised.

I believe we also have people receiving pensions from the Philippines Campaign in 1902. At least we did a couple of years ago. The last US WWI vet, Frank Buckles, died in 2011.

Fyrfighter

Just watched a bit of the DOGE subcommittee hearing.. in and among the lies and grandstanding the dems were doing was one nugget. one of the “ranking members” a dem ( wasn’t paying close enough attention to catch his name) said that in his freshman year in congress, he had a discussion on improper payments, and that it had been going on for decades. He then complained about President Trump firing the IG’s , who in his words are “responsible for getting rid of fraud”..
Do these idiots not even read their own speeches before giving them?? So basically, he’s pissed because the people who were supposed to stop these improper payments, that had been going on for decades, have been fired for not doing their jobs… It boggles the mind that anyone could vote for these people. They are either on the take (see above about ballooning personal worth), or are too stupid to walk and chew gum at the same time. In either case, they should damn sure not be running the country.
