Michael Christopher Estes’ military records

Last month Michael Estes was arrested when he attempted to bomb the Asheville, North Carolina Airport so that he could “fight a war on US soil”. We discussed him at this link. He was out of jail after serving seven days of a 10-21 month sentence for an assault beef earlier this year when he planted his Claymore mine-like bomb in the airport. According to Heavy, on his Facebook page he had claimed to a be “retired military” and that he left the service in 2014;

That’s not exactly true – he was in the Marine Corps for a year and a month, ending in 2002. I suspect that he was AWOL and a deserter, because the discharge says that his one year of service occurred between August 1999 and February 2002 – during a two-and-a-half year span of time indicating “bad time”. He also only accrued 3 months in his primary occupational specialty during that period.
The discharge also says that he has 3 years and nine months of prior active service. We’re waiting for his FOIA from the Navy, so that’s probably where he served. With or without the Navy FOIA, he wasn’t on active duty until 2014, and he certainly didn’t retire from the military.

I’m sure neither the Navy nor the Marine Corps taught him to build a bomb, nor did the services influence him to declare his own personal war on the United States. He looks as if his problems followed him into the Marines and followed him out. Estes had no deployments, so he can’t blame his wartime service – it looks like he went AWOL when the war started.

Shitbird.
With those ears…I would have thoought him “airborne” or Air Farce” LOL
Cocksucker.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
I’m still not sure of his motivation. Is he a converted mozzie, a proggie antifa type, neo-nazi, or just plain nuts ?
How about “E: All Of The Above”?
He’s an asshole with a chip on his shoulder and a hair up his backside about everything. Everything pisses him off. If, God forbid, you started talking to him, I’d lay odds he’d be spitting fireballs of anger over imaginary wrongs.
Just like at least 99% of incarcerated criminals.
Double Cocksucker!
So can someone explain how a convicted domestic terrorist A) only gets sentenced to 21 months and B) only serves SEVEN days before being released?
Disregard. Read it wrong. But still 7 days for an assault conviction. WTF?
Revolving door justice system, AKA “Catch and Release.” SAs plead major felony crimes down to misdemeanors; activist bleeding heart judges flush away most if not all of the minimum sentence. You see it a lot in the Dem-run city-states.
Hmm.. makes you wonder why those places also seem to have high crime rates… odd….
“retired military?”
AWOL/Deserter when the war started?
Badge #714 says:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, the story you are about to read is true, only the facts have been changed to protect the guilty.”
CLaw-Thank you Sgt. Friday. Highway Patrol Brodereck Crawford says 10-4 and out.
“looks as if his problems followed him into the Marines and followed him out.” Precisely why the military doesn’t need to recruit from individuals with a history of mental illness or any other anti social behavior.
Having worked these cases as a Congressional Aide, I could see that was a disaster in the making.
Once someone is in the military and released they may (depending on the circumstances) be eligible for VA benefits.
Glad to see the Army Chief of Staff slapped down the quack MD who thought up this insanity.
This whole scheme was just crazy.
He attempts to lay a Claymore-like bomb in an airport, only gets 10-21 months, then only serves seven friggin days before he is let out?
Tell me again how more flipping laws are supposed to keep us safe?
Someone somewhere needs to start paying attention to what these judges are doing, reward the good ones and send the bad ones packing.
Amen to that, WTF good are Laws if they’re not effectively enforced?
Back when I was more active in the local political party of my choice, I heard a candidate for judge lament how she had been told by a potential voter that they didn’t pay any attention to the down-ballot candidates, just the “important” ones.
The candidate commented that a judge can take away your money, your property, your family, your freedom, your rights, and your life. Other than that, there’s not much important that a judge can do.
That should be beat into every voters’ head, IMHO.
Actually, he served seven days for an assault charge. Eight days after he got out, he tried to bomb the airport. He hasn’t been tried in the airport case yet.
OK, mea culpa for not reading for comprehension.
But still, serving seven days on a 10-21 month charge is, nonetheless, another case where Lady Justice got gang raped by The System.
Hospital Batt at Lejeune? Correct me if I read that wrong.
Sounds like what should have been what we at Great Mistakes called 15th Division back in the day, aka the, “Blind/Crippled/Crazy” group, emphasis on the last option.
Sparky
I think that reads Headquarters Support Battalion (HQSPTBN)
He probably has the PTSD over not getting the Glengarry leads.
20 years from now, he’ll be at Golden Corral on Veteran’s day wearing a SEAL pin with RECON wings talking about the battle of Macho Grande. Those wounds run pretty deep you know.
Don’t forget the motorcycle vest
He will only be wearing it in memory of the buddies he lost in the battle of Macho Grande.
I’ll never get over Macho Grande.
I wonder if he’ll have developed a ‘drinking problem’ by then.
Splash!
Couldn’t have been much in the navy…no Sea time. Unless he was in the SeaBees or stationed at NAS Backyard on Shore Duty.
USS Neversail!
One, Seabees have a five year contract, meaning in that five years, they do one Seaduty type duty and one shore or overseas.
Seabees have Seaduty and earn deployment/Sea-service Ribbon.
They also do Sea time with ACB (Amphibious Construction Battalions) BMU (Beach Master Units), and ACU’s (Assult Craft Units)
Sub-standard discharge = Shitbag.
Its the PTSD! Of course!
Lets upgrade his discharge and give him benefits!
His records definatly show he had a short enlistment, however, there is nothing in his chrono page to show disciplinary action. He was discharged as an E-3. If you look at his date of Rank its 11/02/99… he was meritoriously promoted to E-3 out of Boot Camp, which is rare in the Corps.
If he was prior enlisted Navy he would be automatically promoted to PFC (E-2). That his DI’s thought highly enough of him to award that next rank means he was shit-hot at one time.
If he was a deserter it should have shown the to/from on his page 3 plus he would have been reduced in rank. It is hard to explain how he went from the West Coast to Lejuene within that time frame. The only valid reason ( which isnt documented) is he could have down a one year stint in Okinawa that isn’t recorded. His MOS was Artillery FO and he was also a qualified Naval Gunfire Spotter. Something happened where he was put in a Non Artillery Unit as a Clerk and discharged.
Still a shitbag.
Lookit them ears, either he was THE most popular “Chicken” in Bubba & Thor’s harem in a previous incarceration, his Mamma & Daddy are also his Aunt & Uncle or BOTH!
I’m guessing the latter is the most likely, as those ears look like a congenital problem. I think he is missing a few forks in his family tree.
Plus, in addition to looking like he has an IQ in the 70 to 80 range, he did commit a major federal terrorism type of felony only eight days after getting out of the slammer. If we look into his educational background, I think we will find a regular rider of the short bus.
