Richard William Figueroa; phony Vietnam Veteran
On this last Veterans’ Day, our own MCPO was wandering around the parade route in New York City and ran into this Richard W. Figueroa fellow (here’s a more recent Facebook page);
Looking at his patches, he’s claiming to have been in Vietnam from 1967-1970 and he had a Purple Heart, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star pinned to his hat;
Nine million Americans served on active duty during the Vietnam War, of those, 2.6 million Americans served within the borders of Vietnam – Mr. Figueroa wasn’t one of the second group. His FOIA says that he was in the Marines for about 2 1/2 years, that he served at Parris Island, Camp Lejeune and Quantico, but not Vietnam. His only award was the National Defense Service Medal and he was discharged as an E-1. I also don’t see any mention of parachute or dive training;
The FOIA says that he was an infantryman, but I’m not aware of any infantry units at Quantico, so I guess he was there for other reasons that are up for speculation.

“…The FOIA says that he was an infantryman, but I’m not aware of any infantry units at Quantico, so I guess he was there for other reasons that are up for speculation…”
Detached duty as adjunct instructor at the FBI Academy…???///
Actually, they used to have a facility at Quantico that was an E-1 producing academy.
He was probably in the one you referred to, not the one I referred to 🙂
I recall that PVT Manning was also assigned to Quantico for a little while. I wonder if he found Richard’s name etched in a wall.
Actually quite a few first term infantry Marines at Quantico due to ceremonial platoons, instructor duty at various schools, and of course, for disciplinary reasons.

USMC 1986-2008
No privates served there as 0311’s. If he got out as a pvt he was a brig rat.
He is only like 3 foot 8 inches!
I’m surprised he doesn’t tell everyone he was a Nam tunnel rat. Seems to be the popular story for the short and skinnies.
…of course Commandant Krulak wasn’t tall by any physical means either, but towers over many in other ways.
I met GEN Krulak over in Okinawa… boy, was he a short guy… but carried himself like a real leader and Marine!
I would have hated to been on the receiving end of an ass chewing from him…
Pulling targets on the hand grenade range at TBS?
Yep, 2 1/2 years in, infantry, Quantico, discharged as E-1. “Nuff said.
Dude was “high drag, low speed”…
More like “All drag NO speed” IMHO.
Follow-up FOIA printed and awaiting mailing. Let’s see if we can get a copy of this guy’s NAVMC 118 page 3.
Use small words on your request. It seems the clerks have been demoted to using the Selectric II to do summary sheets these days.
I picked a II out of the trash last week, perfect condition, not a scratch and fully functional.
I wrapped it in bubble wrap, packed it in a box and labeled it “open in 2075”.
It will be worth a brand new hover car at auction …
Master Chief, maybe you should look around now for a couple of converter/inverter boxes to bubble wrap and store along with the typewriter.
If things continue to go the way they are now, by 2075 the entire world may be powered by Euro trash type 220 electricity./ Smile
Just trying to think of things that may be needed to make your deal on the hover car go off without a hitch.
1) Discharged on Christmas Eve.
2) left Quantico as an E-Zero
3) He was physically in Quantico while assigned to Leguene.
4) Court Martial “not in file” vice “N/A”
Without a doubt secret squirrel working for FBI. All part of the cover up to hide the fact that Nixon was violating the law baring the military from being involved in civilian law enforcement…
I wouldn’t read much into the “Not in file” vice “N/A” regarding court-martial transcripts on the NA 13164. We see that often in files where there’s no indication of the possibility. I think NPRC techs often use the two terms interchangeably in that block.
Noted, thanks!
1) Check
2) Check
3) Check
4) Check
5) Goofy “Richard” nametag on biker vest, Check
Yep, gotta be a secret squirrel infantry baby killer… the E-1 is a cover, he’s got his colors and is really a senior rump rider and someone’s biker bitch!
Mr. Hoobyah must learn to be happy with his one and only gedunk medal, and with himself. He is obviously not completely happy with his life. A hobby other than attention-whoring would be a good thing, something perhaps involving volunteering at a homeless shelter.
The more I see of these gloryhounds, the less I want to even mention being in the Navy.
I’m sure he never got a proper pinning ceremony for those shiny metal leg spreaders. We should make that happen, so he doesn’t feel left out.
Hah. little do you folks know, he was recruited right out of the brig by Lee Marvin to invade a secret Nazi lair. Oh wait, wrong war. shoot. Well I bet his real records burned up in the Chicago fire! Oh wait, wrong year. Ok, guess we just wait for him to sue then.
There is more to this story! I just ain’t tellin’ right now!
I will say this, he IS NOT the only one I noticed on Vet’s Day … there was entire battalion of them!
Behavior + Clown Suit = POS Valor Thief!
Another Cream of Sum Yung Guy soup connoisseur… has required vest and Boonie hat with imagined medals. Did he have a POW patch??? Can’t be “real deal” without a POW medal or patch on your gear…
BHWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ! ! !
Holy Cow now they are standing up Battalions of turds
Why is it so Damn hard to be proud of ones own service
Holy Crap ! ! ! !
do they really think they are going to get away with it in this day and age ??????
He can’t be proud, he didn’t do anything but go to the brig!
Looking at some of the pictures it looked like “Phoney Fest 2015”.
Next year I’m going to do my best to be there, complete with all my shiney metal stuff. It should be a hoot.
Look me up.
I attend ceremony every year with all the important and beautiful people, cruise the assemblage of POS and then march with real Veterans.
AAR’s each year.
He told me when I asked, “yes, Silver Star”.
You must possess an infinite capacity for restraint.
LE background, I believe. Most cops know that beating the sh!t out of someone in public is rather frowned upon. (smile)
I know exactly what to ask and how to do it!
My behavior trumped his, he sang like a bird!
I would have replied: “So, you decided to go with the Silver Star, huh?”
Nothing wrong with placing second. He would have taken the gold if he only remembered to wax his bikini zone.
BTW … There is a beautiful USMC Red Line Brig located at Quantico.
Yes, I have been there, escorting some very bad prisoners to and fro!
If I had to bet a bag full of Brooklyn bagels …
Let’s hope NPRC provides the PII-redacted 118 page 3 I’ve specifically requested. That should tell us what unit he was assigned to while at Quantico. (smile)
Jonn is probably correct, (ouch, that hurt a little), he was probably only processed through Quantico. My guess, returned from deserter status and processed out of the Corps.
I know why he was at Quantico… that’s where the CIA special SEAL/Force Recon/Green Beret/Delta Force School is at! They have his “real” records… all of that top secret shit that they talk about, but aren’t supposed to talk about! It’s the HQ for Agent “Orange”… the top sekrit squirrl handler for all of those guys… sends them out on all of those missions from their!
Yea… THAT’S THE TICKET!!!!
You left out the FBI Academy. Prerequisite for posers who pretend they spent time at Quantico. /sarc/
Where does that fall on the poseur training calendar? Is that before the “SPEZNAZ Shovel Throwing” seminar or after the “POW Experience” short course?
/sarc/
Looks like he had a bit of bad time thrown in,like 7 months worth.
To Chime in to what DC added earlier, there ARE billets for Marine Combat Arms enlisted MOSs at Quantico.
In addition to OCS the Marine Corps has TBS (The Basis School) and IOC (Infantry Officers Course) at Camp Barret across the 95 from mainside.
The Support Battalion There has a Training Support Company that has Artillery, Motor T and Armor Platoon and there is EI (Enlisted Instructor ) Company who helps the TBS IOC demo weapons and acts as Opfor.
I’ve just finished a quick audit of this week’s TAH roster of miscreants, and while the numbers between the Army and Marine Corps are about evenly matched, the sheer quality of douche rocketry gives the Corps a clear edge. All it takes, for example, is one look at Figueroa’s boonie hat to tell he’s one inspired mofo.
Try harder, Army. This is not an acceptable level of performance.
Garryowen…
Yep, he’s the real deal! Boonie hat equals Vietnam Vet! He legit
Fucking dickweed.
This is why I don’t take supposed veterans dressed up in clown attire promoting their “service” seriously any more.
Date of discharge is what we call in LE a ‘clue’.
I guess that he was singing “I’ll Be Homeless For Christmas”.
I imagine this assclown was in Quantico.
In the brig.
