Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy calls for tougher gun laws

| July 7, 2014

Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy

You may have read that Chicago had about 50 gun victims this holiday weekend, 11 were killed at the latest count. So, according to CNN, Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy took to the airwaves to make a call for tougher gun laws, you know because there aren’t enough already in one of the most heavily regulated city limits in this country.

In 2013, 12 people died and 75 were injured during the four-day Independence Day holiday, according to CNN affiliate WLS.

The holiday shootings follow a week in which Chicago had 52 shooting incidents, according to Police Department statistics. This year, as of June 29, Chicago police had recorded 880 shooting incidents, an average of nearly five a day.

McCarthy said police will continue a summer program to flood high-violence areas with police, but he said that without stronger gun laws, police will continue to face an uphill battle.

“There’s too many guns coming in and too little punishment going out,” he said.

I think it’s nice that they live in a city where the criminals all obey the law. I guess they need to make assault with a firearm illegal, because the criminals, if they follow the laws, wouldn’t be shooting people otherwise.

Silly Chicago, they forgot to make murder illegal.

I hate this guy. He is one of the dumbest Law Enforcement officials that I’ve ever heard. He also told his officers to shoot legal conceal and carry citizens.

He’s just sorry he’s too young to have joined the SA or SS…

Argh …

Here comes Bloomberg … You watch!

A Proud Infidel®™

When waas the last time ANYONE saw criminals lining up to turn their guns in as soon as a new law was passed?

“Hey Scratch, whazzup?”
“Yo Horn Dawg, I’m bummed, dey done passed dis new law, can’t carry a piece, gotta go turn my piece in to da man today.”

Yeah, right. Gun Control Laws and the pols that pass them are the criminals’ friend.

A Proud Infidel®™

OH, and I’m sure that VWPissbucket will soon blather its idiocy here, so VWP, GFY sideways with a frozen porcupine and broken glass right after you guzzle a gallon of sulfuric acid!

You know…because the criminal element within society always pays attention to laws, especially ones concerning murder and whatever instrument they decide to use to commit said murder. But, if we could only make a law where even private transfers were required to have background checks these sort of things won’t happen…we can use Chicago as the model….oh wait.

This guy is as stupid as Rahm Emanuel and Dick Durbin. Totally unqualified. The rank and file hate his guts. Check out Second City Cop blog for info from the street.

Don’t get me started on this.

Also, don’t go visit Englewood between 6 Dark Thirty and sunrise the next morning.

Shooting in my old neighborhood Ravenswood yesterday.

Try putting some cops on the beat again, McCarty, you dipstick.

You know, I truly do not understand why any of these morons act so surprised. When I moved to Chicago back in them there olden times, there were shootings in the alley behind my apartment building on a regular basis. Big deal.

I say, let them kill each other off and try doing real police work instead of sitting on your ass and passing another law.

Glad I don’t live there any more.

Mayor Rahm has made a speech on ‘where’s the Federal money for summer jobs for kids’ and blaming Wisconsin, Indiana, Cook County, Iowa, etc., for all the gun(s) violence, instead of addressing the real issue. He also said ‘where’s the policing’.

Now, I’m just shaking my head and wondering if he plans to have people searched before they enter the City of Chicago – or should I say ‘City State’?

McCarthy is a dipshit. Got a friend that’s renovating a house in Ravenswood. He said it’s better now, but who knows. I took a friend to Midway not too long ago and that surrounding area is about as bad as ever. There are some “interesting” areas south of the Stevenson.

It seems as if the left has failed to learn, or deliberately ignoring, the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Power, Comrade… that’s all that matters!

2/17 Air Cav

McCarthy is an ignoramus. Said he, according to CNN, “The illogical nature of what’s happening here — that government can intercede and prevent this from happening is overwhelming. And I refuse to think otherwise in a great country like America that we can continue to allow this to happen — not just on a state, but on a federal level.” So, he’s advocating for government to take action. First, he IS the government so he must not be advocating for better policing, I guess, or action on the part of the executive branch. So what is it he wants? Well, he says that “There’s [sic] too many guns coming in and too little punishment going out.” Who is charged with stopping illegal gun flow? The government. And who prosecutes, cuts deals, and metes out punishment? The government, albeit different branches. So that’s a triple fail yet he wants what? The government to solve the problem! Really, McCarthy? And just what would you, the government, have the rest of the government do? Let me guess. You know what he wants to do. He just won’t come out and say it, the ignoramus.

That’s awesome analysis 2/17. Sometimes, I just wish I was a salamander.

Some brave cop should leak the politically incorrect regarding criminals breaking gun laws to commit crimes.

Poetrooper

I’m Irish but I have to confess I’ve never seen an Irish Soul Patch before. At least I guess that’s what that fuzzy growth is on that dumb mick’s forehead.

But then, based on his fuzzy reasoning, it may be the fuzzy externalized portion of a truly fuzzy brain tumor.

Help me here…is that why they call them The Fuzz?

AW1Ed

Stark contrast between a politically appointed Police Chief and a popularly elected Sherriff. One is a mayor’s lap dog, the other accountable to the district’s voters. Even though I live (for the time being) in Maryland, our county Sherriff is strongly pro 2A, and refuses to enforce the ridiculous laws enacted recently in Annapolis.

Isnala

Right there with you AW1Ed.

MustangCryppie

Sounds like you live where I do, Frederick County. Jenkins is one of the few sane public officials in the state.

The Other Whitey

Can you believe this retard is actually in charge of people?

UpNorth

McCarthy couldn’t lead a thirsty person to water.

Jabatam

One of these people was a bad guy with a gun being stopped by a good guy with a gun…a member of our armed forces no less

The Other Whitey

My God!!! The poor, innocent criminal got cruelly and horribly shot by one of those scary veterans! Harrumph! Harrumph!!

I didn’t get a harrumph out of that guy!

NHSparky

You watch your ass…

AW1 Tim

If they want to solve this problem, then all they have to do is make ALL firearms illegal.

I mean, after all, it worked so well for drugs, right? 🙂

Seadog

Don’t give them any ideas….

I think it’s safe to say that Chicago is back to what it was in the 1970s… which is why the polease are in cars instead of neighborhoods and why 15 to 20 of them show up for something after it happens.

There is NO police presence in the neighborhoods where it’s needed, no matter what McCarthy says. The cops are invisible. If they patrolled on the beat, instead of on the stool at the local donut shop, they might have an effect.

I will give Rahmbo this much credit: he is trying to get programs into place to keep teenagers occupied in the summer months, but that does not stop the violence or the gangbangers.

It used to be that parents knew whose kids were whose, and if someone did something bad, one of those parents would say ‘I saw what you did. You and I are going to have a talk with your parents.’

An Army vet who was a cop in Gary, Indiana was shot and killed sitting in his squad car yesterday morning. That has already started creeping up into Chicago, into Bridgeview, which is a peaceful southside neighborhood. This is not going to stop until the CPD puts feet on the ground. Period.

McCarthy, you nitwit, stop babbling about gun laws and enforce what is already in place, you incompetent ass.

vietnam war protestor aka uss liberty aka deport republicans not the children

You need your guns to shoot all of the children wading across the rio grande river right.

No, fuckwit… I want to keep my guns to protect me and mine from the Utopia you and yours keep trying to inflict on US.

I would fight them there rather than having to fight them in my living room.

Ex-PH2

If you want to keep up with whatsupinChitown, you can just type WGNTV Live into your search block, click on Watch Live, and watch the 9PM news.

Jesse Jackson wants to bring in Federal people (I think he means military) to stop the violence, which is completely out of control.

Someone who works with violent-prone people was interviewed, saying the attitude is ‘if you offend me, I’m going to shoot you’, and also says that guns are extremely easy to get, you can even buy them on credit.

Mayor Rahmbo, meanwhile, apparently does not know that a Federal background check is required to LEGALLY buy a gun, and wants that to be a requirement, because he thinks that guns bought by gangbangers and criminals are purchased in gun shops.

Yes, he actually does believe that criminals buy their guns in gun shops.

Ex-PH2

I’ll retract what I said about Jesse Jackson wanted. He does not want troops coming in to quell the violence.

He wants rebuilding on the south side, rehabbing schools, businesses, and opening trade schools where these people are living.

I know that 52 schools on the south side were closed by da Mayor Rahmbo since he became mayor, there are few grocery stores down there and the place is actually deteriorating into another Detroit.

Jackson says Rahmbo’s going at it all wrong.

Climb to Glory

Guys like Rahm and Jesse Jackson are the problem. They spend their time focusing on the non-issues. They point fingers and spread blame everywhere except where it matters. They never focus on the core of the issue.

Isnala

They borrowed a page from the consultant’s play book: ‘There’s too much money to be made prolonging the problem’!

Ex-PH2`

Well, why would they do that, CTG?

If they actually addressed the real issues, there’d be nothing for them to complain about.

Climb to Glory

Exactly. Jackson is a member of the grievance industry, so he has no financial interest in solving the issue. If the issue were to be solved his bank account would dry up quickly. As for Rahm, he does not have the political will to do what is necessary, nor does he really care in the first place. He’s only concerned with his only well being. He had his little tussle with the teachers union, but he caved eventually. The problems are so systemic that I don’t think that there’s any real solution to fix the mess that is Chicago. The people, particularly those living in downtrodden neighborhoods, have been sold down the river by their politicians.(Looking at you Congressman Rush)

rb325th

This is what happenes when you shove people into ghettos (Obama knows a bit about that having been one of the ones doing the pushing back in his days asa community organizer…)
As well the deterioration of family values, and a collaps of the nuclear family. Toss in high unemployment, poor education, add drugs and gangs and BAM! you have Chicago…
Dumbasses want to keep on blaming an inanimate object instead of facing their own failures. Or were they successes? Keep the people downtrodden with little way up out of the rubble, all the while giving them someone else to blame for all their troubles.

Leftist pension-grubbing power-hungry political hack calls for more gun control so Chicago can be even more like Mexico than it is already!

So I guess training and arming teachers and administrators in Chicago schools is kinda off the table for Garry McCarthy. I hate it when liberals look over their reading glasses to look up at the camera or someone. I like it when conservatives do. Makes me prejudiced I guess. Meh, so what. I still hate it when nitwit, holier and smarter than though liberals do it. It still amazes me a person can come that far in life and still be so clueless about…reality of life in America. Wonder if Garry McCarthy owns a gun?
