Navy commander arrested for bribery
TSO sends a link to this story about Cmdr. Michael Vannak Khem Misiewicz who has been selected for Captain and formerly commanded the USS Mustin a few years back. He’s been arrested for bribery, according to Stars & Stripes. You can read the whole article, but the only reason I wanted to mention the article was for this paragraph, highlighted in the email from TSO:
[Leonard Glenn] Francis also tried to arrange tickets for Misiewicz and other sailors to a Lady Gaga concert in Thailand, and lamented that Misiewicz missed a group of female escorts that Francis referred to as his “Elite Thai Seal Team,” according to an email cited in the complaint.
So, do they have a roster of the “Elite Thai SEAL Team” and does Michael Yon’s name appear on the list? I’m sure he’d like free tickets to a Lady Gaga concert.
Category: Pointless blather
Ahhh!!! little did they know the “Elite Thai SEAL Team” is a ladyboy team!
And Phillip Monkress as well.
Thailand is such a dull and boring place for sailors that those Lady Gaga concert tickets would have been very highly prized.
He ought to charged with having a f’ed up name too.
I’m sorry, but after What’s-Its-Name Manning and this clown, they need to outprocess anyone who listens to Lady Gaga.
He’s in the Navy, huh? Can I just go pound him and demand my tax money back?
These people are REALLY annoying me.
What a dumb fucking douchebag. Fuck up the potential for a perfectly good career for…what? Not much.
“female escorts that Francis referred to as his “Elite Thai Seal Team,”
Don Shipley needs to call them up….
“Dull and boring place for sailors”?
And what color is the sky on YOUR planet? Guam, yes. Yokosuka, maybe. Thailand? Pfft.
What a stupid greedy tool.
I hope that little bit of cash in hand was worth his career and self respect.
@9: Methinks your sarcasm detector is on the fritz.
This is so depressing. I remember when Misiewicz skippered a ship into Cambodia and was reunited with part of the family that gave him up for adoption. It was such a great story.
Twist–you’d be surprised how many guys thought Pattaya was just “meh.”
Then again, after being in the PI, yeah, well…
Wow, Check out his bling in this cnn article http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/18/justice/navy-bribery-case/index.html?hpt=hp_t2
Hollywood has lionized the SEALs to where the rest of the country thinks they are the ONLY effective specops group… guess it’s only fair that a bumper crop of f***ups lately seem to be Navy as well. Karma’s a bitch. Oh, yeah, and the movie about the Maersk Alabama, “Captain Phillips” opens soon.
@14, another article says he enlisted in 85, and got a commission in 92. So 3-4 years enlisted, then the Naval Acad. And he’s just shy of 30 yrs service too, so a full rack is no surprise.
David–you know the best way to stop a SEAL in his tracks?
Put up a mirror.
@14 and 16–if he was prior enlisted, he didn’t do 4. No GCM. And all that bling and just ONE Sea Service Ribbon?
Yeah, you see me workin.
Lady Gaga….
Only in the Navy.
Just kidding.
Thai hookers, though. Kinda cool…
I actually served with him on Mustin (his tour prior to going to 7th Flt), and I was totally shocked to read this. I really expected him to go pretty far with his career. Considering that he was “Deputy OPS” i’m sure that it went higher than him. Pretty curious to see the fallout on this.
Singapore got some badass babes.
That’s all I’m saying……..
Money and hookers. Boy, did I get that wrong.
I always thought it was poker and ‘shaken, not stirred’.
Sparky – thanks, that screen needed rinsing anyway. (However, isn’t a GCM still three years?)

” Singapore got some badass babes. That’s all I’m saying……..”
I like to think this is an accurate rendition of said badass babes:

That is not a “full rack.”
Even by Famous Dave standards, that is barely a half rack.
Jail for all concerned. Federal time. Is Portsmouth still open? If not, it should be!
“Elite Thai Seal Team”?
How deep do they go? Just askin’.
@23–David, the Navy didn’t go to the 3-year requirement for the GCM until the mid-90’s. Prior to that it was 4 years.
O6 Select, BSM, LoMx2, NMCCMx2, NMCAM, JMUAx?, MUC, Battle E wreath, NDSMx2, AFEMx3, SWASMx2, ICM, GWOT-EM, GWOT-S,Sea Service Deployment x 4, Rifle Marksman and Pistol Expert(?) and threw it all away for money.
@29…we must be looking at different pics, but at the end of the day, you’re right.
He pissed away his honor and integrity for a few bucks and a hooker.
Hope he remembers them fondly from Leavenworth.
NHSparky, what do you see different ?
I’m looking at the ribbon rack in the link from comment 14. Either way, very impressive, yet all that’ll get you is a few extra years in the Kansas Gravel Factory.
Try the link on his FB page:

He now has a JAM – Jack Ass Medal!
He’s trading medal bars for metal bars.
It’s always amazing what truly stupid risks people will take for a relatively few $$$.
Hope he enjoys shore duty in a place that’s cold in the winter and rather hot in the summer. I’m guessing he could be PCSing to such a place soon – for a lengthy tour.
