Mark Laarveld; phony Ranger
Mary sent us this guy who she says is like the Energizer bunny. When he thinks that the heat is off, he pops back up again. So he needs an internet style beat down. His name is Mark Jerome Laarveld and he claims that he was a Ranger from 1986 to 1994, in reality, he was a cannoncocker in Baumholder. Scotty has more details. But here are the basics; he did three years in Germany and was released from active duty as an E-2;
That little career makes him eligible to be a Ranger in his tiny little mind;
And, oh, yeah, he calls himself “Combat Survivor” on his Facebook page, ya know even though there wasn’t any combat during his active service. And he thinks he’s Brian Urlacher, too;
Yeah, he’s somewhere in Illinois, so walk right up and introduce yourself.

@13 As a civilian who’s never served, I’d say we should care more, because we are the ones who are the targets of these scumbags scams in terms of money and crimes. These phonies prey upon our generosity, our sympathy and, of course, our lack of knowledge. Thanks to TAH and other sites like it, I’ve learned a great deal. But honestly, I still have zero clue, other than to be wary of claims and verify first.
But I’ve learned of the many exploits of TAH posters, fighting in secret squirrel missions in Paprika and fending off enemies as Space Shuttle Gunners (heheh).

He’s now changed his moniker to Mark Military Vet and has taken down the Ranger photos. Started a facebook page called Military Active and Vets. I sent most of the members of the page his TAH link. What an ass clown,

Says there is someone spreading messages to his friends saying that his military service is fake. He was stationed at Baumholder, FRG. While Baumholder is rather steep, it in no way, shape or form can take the place of Mt. Yonah. Ranger Tab…DENIED!!!!!

He goes by Mark UsArmy Vet now, changed two weeks ago from Mark Proud Vet. I was his friend for nine months. He has claimed that he was a single guy, just last week post a story about how he was married with two twin daughters. That he had a online affair with a married woman Sandra Morgana. He said his wife and daughters found out and moved out on Halloween. He was coming clean now. He wants his family back. So I start checking up on him and questioning him, I guess he doesn’t like being pushed up against a wall. He had on of his followers send me a message with a link that was a very nasty virus. Virus was sent by Usmc Fubar who acted like he really didn’t like him. Usmc Fubar claims to be a Marine. If he is a Marine, he has no honor. So if you run across this guy stay clear of him and his friends. Plus he also has accounts posting as women, who flirts with himself. How sad it that.
Not his friend for a long time, he is still full of it. His wife and daughters have been gone for well over 2 years.
