Shane Ladner; invades Panama from high school
Shane Ladner and his wife Meg, from Holly Springs, GA, were in that tragic accident in Midland, Texas last November when a train crashed into a parade float and meg lost her leg. But apparently, her husband lied about his military service and placed his wife in that danger needlessly. He claims that he was wounded in Operation Just Cause in Panama in 1989 – but he was still in high school at the time.
Our buddy, Randy Travis, at Fox 5, Atlanta reports;
Atlanta News, Weather, Traffic, and Sports | FOX 5
The statement from Ladner’s lawyer is at the link above. Ladner is still trying to rock the lie;
The discrepancy about when and where Shane’s injuries occurred has led to questions about the validity of Shane’s Purple Heart. This has been complicated by the fact that the Army records in St. Louis are apparently incomplete, and did not contain the DD 214 issued by Ft. Benning which does reflect the Purple Heart. We have requested Shane Ladner’s service records from Ft. Benning, Georgia where the Purple Heart award should be found in their base records. We have also requested Shane’s medical records from the hospital in Panama where he was treated following the grenade attack.
Yeah, there are no records at Fort Benning that aren’t in the National Personnel Records Center in St Louis, MO. All of our records are stored in St Louis. And, oh, by the way, the hospital in Panama no longer exists – they closed when the US withdrew from the Canal Zone in 1999. I’ve been by Gorgas Hospital a few times over the past several years and can attest that it’s not there, so anyone waiting for hospital records from Gorgas is going to waiting a long time.
So, of course, Ladner hides behind the “secret mission” excuse that we’ve heard so many times from other phonies. He was an MP, for crying out loud…how many MPs go on secret missions? They can’t even be original anymore.

I can’t swear to it, but it would make sense to me that the one being pushed around is the wife.
Hondo …. Knowingly forging and possessing the forged DD-214 document is most certainly a federal crime!
Is it often procecuted? Not so much!
@ #50: Thanks for the insight, Twist. Was thinking of stories I’d heard of a few departments which were pretty much destroyed when their National Guard members were activated during Korea. At least one of them was an MP unit almost entirely made up of members of one PD, many of whom had served during WWII as MP’s.
Based upon those old experiences, there were municipal govenments across the nation extremely anxious to be kept informed of the likelihood that their employees would be activated during Desert Storm.
None of which really relates to this topic! Just curious.
This clown can and should be prosecuted. For anything and everything possible.
We’re waiting on another article on Ladner from The Atlanta Journal Constitution. Apparently, his lawyer has no problem joining in the lies with him.
OWB–
My Daughter works for the local PD. Many of the cops are National Guard/Reserve; I don’t think ANY are MPs. The ones I know best are aviation MOSs.
Or he’s just repeating what he’s being told by his client without any proof to the contrary, which will certainly not help him when he tries to join the military law firm of “Branum, Idiot, and Dipshit.”
The AJC reporter says that his lawyer is retired military and should know that there are no records at Fort Benning and that there are no hospital records in Panama.
In which case, burn him.
#57 Jonn–
Around where I work we have an ongoing discussion about certain people as regards Hanlon’s Razor…are they evil or stupid?
Tough question on the lawyer, I suppose.
I wonder what his wife would say if she was asked the question “Do you think Stolen Valor is a victimless crime?”
This guy’s lawyer is likely just putting up the best defense he can for his client. Right now, that involves playing to the public for sympathy and trying to keep his client from looking like a proven liar.
Unfortunately, in this case it appears the lawyer doesn’t have much in the way of fact on which to base a defense. I’m guessing he’s therefore going on the attack with obfuscation and misdirection instead in the time-honored tradition of, “If you can’t convince them with facts, baffle them with BS.”
Today’s update from Fox5 Atlanta.

PH license plates in GA do indeed get a tax break. Sounds like possible tax fraud to me.
And the PH license plate matter is now being investigated by GA LE.
Awesome. Good news.
They are really being nazi’s about what you post on the facebook page for them lol

FYI: Only in rare instances do enlisted MP’s make it to civilian LEo slots. Most applicants are or have been NCO and up with MPI or CID rating (V5). We have a few of those around this neck o the woods.
“civilian LEo slots”…? What’s an LEO slot? There are positions in law enforcement agencies that need to be filled, and they’re filled. Never heard anyone call them “slots”.
And, hiring onto a police department has nothing to do with former military rank or MOS– I know plenty of officers who left the military as PFCs– as long as the discharge was good, most police departments could not care less beyond that, nor about their MOS’s. That’s because most who do the hiring were never in the military nor do they care. Not that that’s good or bad, just the way it is. As for “MPI or CID rating”, I had look those up, had never heard of them until now. I don’t know any officers who have either….
Funny how Uncle Shuga at both the federal and state level really don’t give a shit about Stolen Valor–until someone uses it to avoid paying taxes.
And then it’s junior rodeo on…

Anyone know what’s the latest on this poser. Did the attorney come up with the proof needed from the Army or the hospital in Panama? I thought he admitted he wasn’t in Panama. So why waste time getting records from that source? Questions, questions, questions. Instead of hiring an attorney he should have checked into a mental ward….. Lies, lies, lies. Just be honest and tell the truth. Amazing this idiot is not behind bars with all of the charges they can get him on!!!

Wonder how the people of Midland feel about the honored solider shane Ladner who still is claiming his purple hearts. Which appear to be non existing. What is the shame is those of us who have fought for our country simply because that’s what you do. I was just a regular soldier, did what I had to do without obtaining metals of valor or Purple Hearts and this guy never did anything and the bull he keeps spouting is evil. Real mental case. People of Midland stand up for the next Hunt for Heroes and pluck the posers. The Shane Ladner’s and Charles Cox.
I am a police officer investigating the case on shane, I would like to talk to anyone who has information 678-898-7146 Thanks Jamie
It’s kind of sad to hear what has happened to Meg (even though I never met her personally) I did however work with Shane at Hall County Sheriff Dept, we both worked in the Jail. I never would have thought Shane would have lied about his service awards. I always thought of him as a Stand-up guy, but this goes to show, that you never really truly know someone.
He went back to Midland with Meg for a follow up or something similar a while back.
It seems Show of Support Hunt for Heroes is getting butthurt because they were called out for not investigating Ladner AGAIN.
Their face book page had the following:
“Thank you and God Bless everyone who supports us. To those who make rude comments on here and criticize Show of Support, it is too easy to sit in front of a computer and pretend you make a difference. If you honestly care, take your hands, your time and your money and go find a veterans organization you can support. With our Blessing. God Bless all.”
@56, NHSparky, are you sure it isn’t “Dewey, Cheatham, Fukkem, and Howe”?
