Larry E. Sims; another military career measured in weeks

| October 30, 2012

Someone sent me some research that he did on a guy he met at a ceremony to dedicate a school in the name of Medal of Honor recipient SFC Paul Ray Smith who was killed in Iraq in 2003. Apparently, our hero was helping to get a memorial together for SFC Smith and he solicited help from local businesses. That’s when this Larry E. Sims shows up and starts telling tall tales about his own service; that he was a Captain in the 101st Airborne Division, that he had three combat tours in the war against terror, a CIB, and two stars on his jump wings. This is what his LinkedIn profile said about his military career;

That conflicts greatly with his military records;

Yup, that’s right, he served about five weeks. When confronted with the truth, of course, he apologized for it (because he was caught) and said that he had just been inflating his resume and got carried away. Yeah, it’s not hard to embellish a 5 week military career, but he kind of carried it to the extreme. He had to put those combat jump stars on his jump wings even though the 101st hasn’t had a combat jump since World War II.

So, Sims begs our hero for “mercy” and the first kind of mercy our hero thought of was a guest appearance on TAH. Ta-da! Mercy!

@48 I am the person that initiated this inquiry. I knew the Ferret Face Turd Weasel wouldn’t tell the whole truth; he hasn’t for nearly 17 years… so I prepared an email over my lunch break yesterday that laid the whole story out. Mr. Kamdar read the email, then sent me the following message:

Dear “Gumshoe”

I truly appreciate the information you put together with the documentary evidence. Thank you for providing detailed information. As of today, 8:50 PM, Larry Sims is no longer an employee of DB Healthcare. Larry Sims apologized to us for his misrepresentation; however, it is not acceptable for us to continue the association. He is informed to change his LinkedIn profile to disengage his association with DB Healthcare immediately.

I received several emails from other well wishers about similar information. Your email relates to the fact with detailed evidence, and that helped us to reach to the decision to disengage him from DB Healthcare. Feel free to reach out to me via email or phone, if you have any questions.

There is still a lot that needs to be researched. I worry that they used his “Veteran” status to fraudulently secure government contracts. I also highly doubt his academic claims as well.

Dawn Ward

Believe it or not he is still telling the same lies in 2014! So much for him being sorry. He is also still gaining jobs at unsuspecting health care organizations and ruining the financial lives of people who have worked hard and done things honestly to get where they were. He now lives in Pinellas county Florida and was fired yesterday from a private practice that he worked at for a little over two months. I lost my job because of his pathological lies.

Thunderstixx

Good Lord Dawn.
I am sorry to hear that you lost your job because of this shitbag. Hopefully it has worked out well for you.
It appears that he is no longer employed at several places as of 12-3-2014

Hey guys, I just curious. how does one get out of the Army in five weeks like that? Medical? And as a reporter, how can I tell from that DD214 what type of a discharge he had. And is he considered a soldier? I know you aren’t a Marine until you finish recruit training but is it the same for the Army? Sorry to bother you but I am trying to use these to learn about how the system works and what to look for.

JBS

@52..That isn’t his DD214. It’s just an FOIA release (public records). He wasn’t a Soldier, IMO. He was probably just released from service due to incompatibility during training.

It’s eerie to watch this guy go from surgar to shit in a matter of hours on TAH.

Twist

JBS, I smell a chapter 11 with this guy.

If they recieved Government grants because of the lying sack of horse manure would they be held accountable or would the aforementioned dick weasle?

Mustang

@55 This just gets better and better.

Hondo

Andy Kravetz: entry-level separations (Chapter 11) are discussed here:

http://www.apd.army.mil/jw2/xmldemo/r635_200/main.asp#ch11

Some people simply can’t adapt or can’t “hack it” in the military.

Medical is another possibility if he got hurt in basic. However, I’m pretty sure a medical discharge requires a board, and those generally take a while; 5 weeks would really be pushing things. They also generally come with VA benefits. I’m guessing he’d have been touting his “disabled vet” status in that case.

I’m guessing he got an entry level separation for failure to adapt, repeated training failures, or misconduct. I could be wrong.

JP

Two stars on his jump wings, huh?

Poindexter here not only looks great for having jumped into Normandy and Holland with the 101, but he must be a real shitbag if after nearly 70 years he only made captain.

Mustang

@58 Come on JP. Surely you must realize that he spent his first 65 years as a Sergeant Major then got a battlefield commission straight to Captain after getting his Bronze Star w/ V for killing bad guys just prior to his retirement.

Andy Kravetz

Thanks. It’s so hard to learn all this stuff. I don’t get why anyone would try to fake it. My head is swimming trying to learn all this stuff and I grew up around the military.

Andy

Mustang

@60 That’s the exact reason why a lot of these posers can get away with it for so long. They typically don’t get caught until someone from the military catches on.

AverageNCO

This guy is just a comedy of errors. It’s kind of like when you read the cliff notes for a book, but your English teacher knows just what questions to ask to catch you for not reading the whole book:
He knows to claim combat jumps…but then screws up and says he was in the 101st.
He wants to claim to be an officer, but then claims to only be an 03 after nearly 17 years of service. Even for a prior enlistee that could be enough to raise an eyebrow.
He claimed a Distinguished Service Medal…not knowing it would be more plausible for an infantry CGO to earn a DSC than a DSM.
And fianlly, he even screwed up his bogus education record. He claimed he got his MBA from UMBC. Once again, he got part of the information. He was probably thinking UMUC(University of Maryland University College). I got my bachelor’s degree from UMUC, along with thousands of other servicemembers. UMUC does offer an online MBA geared toward military students.
So if any of you bump into FerretFace in the business world in the future….just tell him you want to supersize your value meal and hold the mayo.

Dawn

He’s back at it again. He has started another linkedin profile claiming his “MBA” is now from USF. Along with all of his ficticious employment credentials. He was also recently arrested for unemployment fraud. Go to Who’s been arrested in Pinellas County. This guy is nothing more than a bottom sucking scum bag. He ill never stop with his lies. I believe he is a true sociopath.

Green Thumb

Shitbag Larry is up to his old games, huh?

Maggot.

But his Lawer said he’s such a stand up guy!

@ 57…at least in the USN and USMC there is a quasi-medical separation called “Condition not a disability”. It covers a variety of minor, typically transient or not particularly disabling outside of the military conditions such as bed wetting, minor orthopedic overuse injuries (which are expected to heal if not subjected to continued training), seasickness, adjustment disorder, etc. Personality disorder is also in there but with his limited time in service, an entry level separation would be the most expedient way to go. Theres also the possibliity that he had some condition that was pre-existing but was not known (or the severity of which was not known) which would result in a discharge for erroneous enlistment without a negative characterization as can come with the fraud ad sep.

Green Thumb

This turd is fraud.

In many different venues it would seem…

Weak Sauce he is.

Turd.

Sorry EX-PH2, my conscience got the better of me…

No offense.

Hondo

Let’s hope his former employer processes this firing as being “for cause” and specifies fraudulent credentials as the reason. Otherwise, he’ll almost certainly be eligible for MA’s unemployment compensation – which is the most generous in the US.

Gumshoe

Public-ish statement from DB Healthcare’s Rakesh Kamdar I received in an email:

I appreciate the fact that you are looking out for DB Healthcare’s interest. DB Healthcare, as of today October 31, 2012 – does not have any existing contract with The Department of Defense, the Veterans Administration, Health and Human Services, or any government entity. FYI, Larry Sims joined DB Healthcare just two months a go, 1st week of September and ended yesterday. Larry Sims did not get a single contract or even an RFP from any of the government agencies for us to work on.

All I can tell you is, I am grateful to you and other people who brought this to my attention, and we taking the immediate action in this matter.

-End Statement-

I have contacted a newspaper and they are attempting to contact Lying Larry the Ferret Faced Turd Weasel, but he’s fallen off the radar once again. If anyone can find a phone number, email address or new LinkedIn profile (haaaaa) please let me know through Jonn.

Ec-PH2

@GreenThumb, it’s OK. Trial and error. Keep shooting. How else you gonna hit the target?

Just an Old Dog

@52 Andy, by the book anyone who enters the military, takes the oath and leaves MEPS is a full fledged member of the Military. We tend to not want to give people who have not completed training the title of Soldier, Airman, Marine or Sailor but if they get a DD214 they are a “Veteran”. Its just a matter of what type of discharge they get that determines their benefits.
I was the NCOIC of the Separations Platoon at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego in 1994. About 15,000 recruits report for training there a year, roughly 10% don’t make it. Unless its under extremely unusual circumstances Those that are separated are documented as being ELS (Entry Level Separation) sometimes called ELPAC (Entry Level Performance and Conduct). This is basically a non-Characterized Discharge. I’m pretty sure its never on the DD 214 but there were several reasons for these discharges. I’ll try to cover them. 1. Fraudulent If a recruit knowingly hid a medical condition or forged documents ( diploma, ID etc) or lied about his record or drug use he falls into this category 2. Erroneous This is when the recruit had a medical condition or was otherwise unable to complete training due to unknown medical or administrative issues. 3. FTA Failure to Adapt. In this case the recruit is physically and medically able to train but either refuses to or simply can’t complete the training 4. Medical This is the most complex type of discharge in recruit training. This is when a recruit suffers a physical condition due to training. He will be evaluated the same as a service member who has been in the operational forces. He can be given disability or treatment and if the injury is severe enough where it won’t heal he will get VA benefits or even Medical retirement

The assclown takes gayness to a whole new level.

Thanks for posting the new posers. It saves me time between papers. Great way to blow off steam and laugh.

Green Thumb

Possible Sociopath.

Creepy Fingered dude.

I would not leave this guy around unattended kids.

Turd-Bird. Pretty typical, super un-researched military background bravado and lying to his employer. Now he’s probably wondering how it all fell apart, and SOOOO g-damn quickly. And honorable placement in the TAH Hall of Shame to boot. Ahh, the tears he must be shedding, so unbelievably sweet. From above:
“So, Sims begs our hero for “mercy” and the first kind of mercy our hero thought of was a guest appearance on TAH. Ta-da! Mercy!” Yes, he will find it here. The sphincters of mercy are always gushing at TAH.

Splash. Out.

I’m glad that GOOGLE hits snapped back and slapped him UPSIDE the HEAD.

/too bad he didn’t learn the FIRST time.

Hondo

You would think that being fired might cause someone to learn that continuing the behavior leading to their previous firing is maybe not such a good idea.

Mustang1LT

I must’ve missed this dipshit the first time around. Beclowning himself at a school dedication for a school named for SFC Paul Ray Smith? As an Engineer, all I can say is fuck this phony and I hope he never holds another job that doesn’t involve fryers!
Hey Simms, go fuck yourself. And when you’re done doing that, go fuck yourself!

NHSparky

The Internet is forever. When will people wake up and realize that?

Thunderstixx

HEY !!!
How come that shitbag got a National Defense Ribbon for serving a few weeks and I didn’t get one even though I served my entire enlistment and got an Honorable Discharge…
Shit, I even froze my ass off in Alaska for 21 months…
