Poe and his pictures
Once upon a time, a kid named Poe wanted to be a combat decorated soldier, so he made up some stories. A TV station in Texas decided to honor this hero (good on them for the effort) by doing a story. This is that video:
So, you have that story, which completely doesn’t match his records. Nonetheless, while we wait breathlessly for the medical records, what about those pictures?
Well, I just got the email transcript between him and America’s Got Talent. Why is this important? Because at least one of those photos we have already proven is not him.

Well, I don’t know, because it ends there with the AGT people. But you know what he does next? He sends the whole email string to WFAA TV so they can use the same EXACT pictures, the ones in that video above. And in responding to the guy at WFAA, he says:

Well, that is rather inconvenient. He only has these pictures, that may or may not be him [hint: they are not] and he deleted everything else.
Now, the reporter he sent those to has specifically told someone I know that he never once told him (the reporter) that these pictures weren’t him.
Now I ask you, who the hell sends pictures to a TV station of people other than themselves? You think I wouldn’t like pictures of David Beckham or something instead of my own ugly mug? Dammit people, I look like Shrek. But who sends another persons DoD pictures to a TV station?

I just don’t get this at all. He did deploy. He is a vet. He did serve. So many people don’t even do that. Why lie, assuming it is true. Have we really reached a point where just being a “war” veteran isn’t enough. Do you really need to go that extra mile? Tragic, in my opinion, as this demeans all those did serve and get wounded in battle as well as all those in the uniform. Makes people have to question what you did or didn’t go. I hate liars. (assuming this is true).

Andy-yes, started as 91B, transitioned to 91W and then finally 68W. It’s the best job in the Army.
68W, yeah, I know. Tried and Tried to get in. Was an EMT but well, got as far as the medical eval to enlist and they found a few things the Army didn’t like so couldn’t join up. Alas. Still, always have love for the 91W and now 68W.

You can also use Tineye http://www.tineye.com/ to do reverse search on photos on line, either by uploading the image itself or entering the URL that the photo is shown on.
WE ALL OWE a bit “Thank you” to the team at TAH. I’ve seen hundreds of these kinds of things and they usually get a quick news mention and are gone before the true impact of such Stolen Valor sinks in. Same would have been true here…a story here or there that Poe’s claim had been questioned…then he’s forgotton to re-emerge years later to continue the charade.

I honestly don’t think he tried to lie to gain anything out of it. I think this guy is genuinely mentally fooocked in his head and he truly believed what happened really happened. IF and thats a huge IF he was really injured in combat then get this guy to the VA and get him some real fucking therapy. People want to automatically put this guy on a pitch fork and burn him alive but we all don’t know what is really going on in this guys head. Maybe he really thought those pics were of him. Who knows. Before we criticize a vet for making really fucking dumb mistake lets get the facts first.

OK, people, pay attention instead of going off the deep end. Timmy “Pinhead” Poe said he got HIT buy a grenade. He said he felt the blast. For pete’s sake, guys, if you’ve been in combat, you know as well as I do (and I’ve never been in combat) that if you get HIT with a grenade and it explodes, you generally get big chunks blown off of you. Right? Right? So, if Timmy “Pinhead” Poe got hit with a live grenade, how come he’s still walking on two legs? (Maybe he’s using his middle leg. What do I know?)
There are exceptions to that, and the most recent one is USMC CPL Winder Perez, who had a UXO RPG embedded in his right thigh back in January. The video of that is now floating around on the internet. Honk if you see it.
Look, when a military action is in the “hot zone” (big, ugly protests — think Vietnam), no one except the vets wants to be associated with it.
But if it’s a big deal, and vets and active duty peeps are praised and appreciated (Desert Storm, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan and finally, Vietnam), every cockroach in the crawlspace is going to worm its way into the glow of the limelight, just to get a piece of that pie. That’s what is going with Timmy “Pinhead” Poe and every other looney-tune that claims a spot in the sun. The glory hounds always want a piece of the pie, even if they didn’t pay for it.
