Friday night drunkblogging Silver Spring
Late yesterday afternoon I got an email from Blackfive‘s Uncle Jimbo inviting me to Walter Reed for the weekly Friday night FReep and, of course, I accepted. As soon as I got there, Jimbo started getting mischievous and went down to the Code Pink/union thug area and tried to join them with the above pictured sign, explaining that he only wants peace…just like them. But Bruce Wolfe, the union thug who has responsibility for manning the space (since it’s hardly on Code Pink’s radar these days) was having none of it.
As he explains in this video, his focus is only getting troops out of Iraq. I wonder what his mission will be when combat troops are out of Iraq.
I also ran into Concrete Bob (that’s him on left without the bicycle) and FReeper Trooprally on the right)
All of the regulars were out there…just like they are every Friday night rain or shine. Mrs. Trooprally told me that some of the moonbats told her that they’re just rank-and-file union members whom the union forces to be there on Friday night.
And I bumped into rongkirby who said he had another report from the floor of the House he’s sending me, so stay tuned for that.
After the FReep we took some of the troops who are being treated at Walter Reed out for a night on the town in Silver Spring, Maryland. These guys were all paratroopers of the 173rd Brigade who were in that firefight last month in Afghanistan. in which a reinforced platoon of infantry fought off more than a hundred Taliban in an early morning attack.
That’s Tankerbabe in the picture. She’ll probably chew me out for the picture, but it’s the only one I have of her.
We had some good long talks and I felt as if those 14 years that I’ve been out of the Army never happened. It was one of the best nights I’ve had since I moved to DC. It was heartening to talk with these young paratroopers who performed so heroically that day (among hundreds of other heroic days) in the remote Afghan outpost, and to hear them name their comrades as the real heroes, shunning any praise for their own actions that night. I’m so proud that my Army and the future of this nation is in the hands of such capable and valorous young men.
Jimbo fell in love last night and insisted that I post this picture today of last night’s Future Ex-Mrs. Jimbo. The picture’s blurry, but that’s how we saw everything last night after several pitchers of beer and a couple of Car Bombs (at Tankerbabes’ unrelenting insistence).
So, after we closed up the bar, Concrete Bob drove my drunk ass home and poured me out of his car at about 2 AM. Tankerbabe has promised me some of her pictures so I may have more later.

I wish I could have joined you guys last night, it looks like you had a blast. concrete_bob told me to spend a few days in DC the next time I come down for an event, so we could get some socializing in. The Friday Freep at Walter Reed and taking some young warriors out would be a great time in my books!
BTW, here’s the picture that Mr. Trooprally took of me at Eagles Muster back in March:

I love the top sign! I wanted to do something similar here in Asunción yesterday when Hugo Chavez arrived at the small air port. I wanted to hold up a sign for him, but my husband thought we should not begin our time in Paraguay by ending up on the news. He’s probably right…but what fun it would have been!

Jonn, you obviously didn’t drink enough last night, because you had this post up before I recovered.
You guys rocked the house, my friend. Having you and UJ at WRAMC made my night.
Thank you.

Great stuff! God bless you for taking care of our fine young service men. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for joining the FReep last night John! It was great seeing concretebob back on the corners, meeting Uncle J and its always a huge pleasure to have Tankerbabe around!!! Our great young wounded warriors couldn’t have been in better hands than yours.
Come back, soon!
Walter Reed is always a good thing. For going again and posting about it… thanks.
But, you Army types are just light-weights when it comes to imbibing alcohol!
I don’t understand the “Surge Care Not Troops” sign. The surge in Iraq is over! Are they referring to McCain/Obama who have suggested a surge to A-stan? This is most likely a result of people using the same sign for over a year due to a lack of creativity.
You guys must have had such a good time. Glad everyone got home safely and hope there were only small headaches today!
I can’t get the marching band out of my head and the elephant out of my mouth! Overslept this morning but made it back to WRAMC in time to join today’s festivities. My body is D O N E but…what a fantastic 2 days with the 173rd Airborne Wounded Warriors.
Now remind me – who’s idea was it for me to declare that none of those young pups would out drink me? BAD IDEA!
Photos will be forwarded soon – soon being whenever I can muster the energy.
GREAT to see you!
Thanks for your post, blog (which I was just sent)
and pictures.
While I would love to harrass the idiots in Code Pink, I have very severe anger managment problems and would probably get myself arrested.
Mainly, I am replying to say, HAPPY AIRBORNE DAY to all my fellow Paratroopers.

Looks like you guys had some fun! And I had no idea that Uncle Jimbo was such a cutie.
I hate that I wasn’t there, myself. UJ always has a knack for making those moonbats stutter and look stoopid. THe FREEPs that I have been to were top notch and I wished I had done more.
Great job and thanks Jonn for the photos. Those troops must have been awesome!!
Roger that! Wish I could be there every night, lol. CODE Stinko would be invaded everytime they looked around, bro! Sort of glad to learn whatshisname is there pushing his paid people around….
Labor Unions suck
Sheesh! I finally get the alcohol out of my brain and some here to tell you no worries about the photo then the nausea sets in when I read someone thinks Uncle J is a cutie. LOL!
It was a GRAND night Jonn and I’m so glad you were able to join us and meet some of “my” incredible Wounded Warriors. They are amazing in so many ways.
Are you sure they didn’t confuse me with Uncle Jimbo?
😉
Sorry, I had to ask.
As long as the Code Pinkos have been going at it, I am still using them as a great example of the “Nanny Staters”. They are wanting our volunteer troops to come home; whether or not the troops feel that way, whether or not the troops believe in what they are doing, whether or not America is regaining lost credibility and respect. According to them, ALL the troops were drafted, and all of them were sent there against their will. And the short fat guy with the cute pony tail; he can only do one theme at a time?????? Losers, the bunch of them.
They are as bad as the IVAW sissies!
Support a 3rd term for George W. Bush!!!!!!! Just to piss them off.

You guys are the best; taking the guys from WW out and dealing with the brain-deads all in one night. Everybody loves talking these days about how our society is too spoiled, too this or that to do what needs to be done; you guys and the brave men you took out with you give lie to that. Well done.
