The face of treason

| June 7, 2010

Specialist Bradley Manning was arrested this weekend for perpetrating the Wikileaks video release. He has bragged that he was also responsible for countless other release according to Wired;

He said he also leaked three other items to Wikileaks: a separate video showing the notorious 2009 Garani air strike in Afghanistan that Wikileaks has previously acknowledged is in its possession; a classified Army document evaluating Wikileaks as a security threat, which the site posted in March; and a previously unreported breach consisting of 260,000 classified U.S. diplomatic cables that Manning described as exposing “almost criminal political back dealings.”

“Hillary Clinton, and several thousand diplomats around the world are going to have a heart attack when they wake up one morning, and find an entire repository of classified foreign policy is available, in searchable format, to the public,” Manning wrote.

Wired.com could not confirm whether Wikileaks received the supposed 260,000 classified embassy dispatches. To date, a single classified diplomatic cable has appeared on the site: released last February, it describes a U.S. embassy meeting with the government of Iceland. E-mail and a voice mail message left for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange on Sunday were not answered by the time this article was published.

The State Department said it was not aware of the arrest or the allegedly leaked cables. The FBI was not prepared to comment when asked about Manning.

Of course, he was turned in by a former hacker who wasn’t so disturbed by the release of the “Collateral Murder” video as he was about the 2009 diplomatic communications. So I guess he was politically motivated to rescue Obama and Clinton from the evil clutches of whistleblowers.

I’m surprised that CID agents took valuable time away from harassing bloggers to arrest this guy, who was benign compared to antics of folks releasing ORBs of terrorists.

Thanks to Junior AG for the link. More from Jimbo.

heh.

Any comment from a certain LTC?

NHSparky

Here’s hoping he gets a cell in a Supermax next to the Walkers and Whitworth (yeah, I’m dating myself.)

Casey J Porter

The next great IVAW hero.

Scott

According to Wired:
“He discussed personal issues that got him into trouble with his superiors and left him socially isolated, and said he had been demoted and was headed for an early discharge from the Army.”

Translation: Shitbird.

Props to Lamo for doing the right thing. Prepare to be excoriated by your former fans though.

OldTrooper

I noticed some of the comments on Blackfive talked about Leavenworth. Personally, I don’t think he should make it that far………

Ben

He’ll certainly be a hero to the left.

Even so, I don’t expect his martyrdom to reach the heights it would have if this was still the Bush era. If he’s being prosecuted by the Obama Administration, he won’t be seen as quite as much of a victim.

Funny, when I got my secret security clearance they made it pretty clear that I wasn’t supposed to pass on classified information to bloggers. Under penalty of law, actually.

But I suppose he thinks that the righteousness of his cause means that he doesn’t actually have to abide by that silly rule.

Ben

This is an amazing story.

Also, did you notice the second photo of Manning in civvies? I won’t jump to any conclusions, but is it too much to suspect that he’s eagerly awaiting the repeal of DADT? Hmmm…he’d fit right in on the streets of P-Town.

Marine6

I hope he is charged, and convicted, of one count for each document/item he leaked. That ought to earn him about 260,005 years in jail.

And when he asks the judge “you don’t really expect me to serve 260,005 years, do you?” I hope the judge just looks at him and says “Do the best you can, boy.”

“Wikileaks received the supposed 260,000 classified embassy dispatches.”

I’m pretty certain he reviewed them all while lip-syncing Lady Gaga tunes, so’s nobody might get killed or hurt due to their release… VOMIT.

Treason – aiding and abetting the enemy in time of war. Punishable by death.
I volunteer to pull the trigger of throw the switch (after the trial of course).
(Grit and grind of teeth . . )

The little cockholster is a Beauchamp fabulist clone with the same propensity to be a problem child:

“He discussed personal issues that got him into trouble with his superiors and left him socially isolated, and said he had been demoted and was headed for an early discharge from the Army.”

He needs to be taken out and shot.

hoosierbeagle

I was a Security manager for 6 yrs, and if what Ben said is true how did he keep a TS clearance. I would have pulled that first off. Try this thing for treason, then hang him.

defendUSA

A Buddy-fucking shitbird at that… Need I say more?

Army Sergeant

If he happens to be gay, I don’t think it says a damn thing about gays in TS positions. I knew a lot of gay intel soldiers who did great jobs and didn’t even dream of violating their oaths.

Jacobite

And good grief, this Adrian Lamo individual almost looks like the type to leave a severed horses head in a guys bed. Hehehehe, no honor among thieves, I hope they throw the book at Manning.

“So intel soldiers should BE willing spread lies that get innocent people killed?”

Learn to write, Carl.

Op, wait… one more…

“So intel soldiers should BE willing TO spread lies that get innocent people killed?”

NHSparky

Carl, by innocent, do you mean those who would do our troops and citizens harm? If that was your criteria, then yes. If you have a problem with that, step aside and let your betters do the work you are unwilling and unable to do.
