What’s funny about the Blumenthal conference
1stCavRVN11B sent me a message from one of his friends who recognized one of the veterans on the stage with Richard Blumenthal from POW Net’s Wall of Shame. His name is William Joseph Trumpower and here’s the picture of him at Blumenthal’s press conference taken from a screenshot of a Fox News video;
And here’s a screen shot of an interview Trumpower did on local TV under his AKA name Elliot Storm;
Trumpower or Storm actually did serve in Vietnam, but he embellished his career to sell a book.
CLAIMING BRONZE STAR w/VALOR device. Claims 2nd Lt, Claims Wears 3 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars w/V. The jacket in EARLIER pictures boasted 8 ribbons. This NEW pic has more and includes V device on Bronze Star and 2nd Lt bars. Claims he worked with Ollie North.
ACTUAL – National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Purple Heart w/1*. Served 11 Oct 1968 to 30 Jan 1970 as a USMC rifleman (MOS 0311). Has enlisted service number (not officer’s)

That’s just pathetic. What sort of 0311, having served in actual combat and been wounded, no less, would feel the need to embellish his service record? I actually feel sorry for the bastard, because it’s clear that he has some sort of mental deficiency.

There’s ALWAYS something more than just Stolen Valor, and this is the guy standing with the CT “Top Cop” and wannabe Viet Vet.
I just am not getting it. I gave 20 years to the Corps and feel no need to embellish what I did over that time frame. I always thought that making it that far without a trip to the brig was accomplishment enough, given some of the stuff I got away with. Why would someone feel the need after having done it for real, to further ramp up their qualifications. If you didn’t do it, don’t claim it, dammit.
One thing that strikes me about the “phonies” or those who embellish–there’s enough people out there who either WERE there or WERE THERE WITH YOU who can verify your claims. So why is it these guys still in the age of the Internet make such claims? Either they think we’re too stupid to notice, or too lazy to check–and while they may be right a good percentage of the time, there’s always going to be that one time they get called on their bullshit that the whole house of cards comes down around them. Basically, I still can’t fathom why someone would do this, short of perpetrating additional fraud–something Mr. Sterner has pointed out goes hand-in-hand all too often.
Well, I for one would like to thank Blumenthal for his service. Thanks, you lying schmuck! BTW, I’d also like to wish you luck in your campaign,…..All Bad! To quote Jaron “I’m gonna take the high road and do what the preacher told me to do. You keep messin’ up, and I’ll keep prayin’ for you…..”
