Fatal McDowell County shooting determined to be self-defense; fake handgun found at scene

by Kristy Kepley-Steward
MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — McDowell County authorities have determined a fatal shooting last month on Montford Cove Road was self-defense.

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office says on Thursday, July 25, 2019, between approximately 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m., James Robert Eller, 39, of Nebo, was shot to death inside a vehicle on Montford Cove Road.

The vehicle belonged to Clay Lee Freeburg, 36, of Lake Lure.

Authorities say their investigation shows Eller attempted to rob Freeburg while he was inside his own vehicle, parked on Montford Cove Road. In response, authorities say Freeburg defended himself and fatally shot Eller.

Manager shoots and kills employee who hit him with metal bar, Las Vegas police say

By: KTNV Staff
LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas police are investigating after they say a manager shot and killed an employee who reportedly punched him and hit him with a metal bar.

The manager has a concealed carry weapons (CCW) permit. Police believe the incident may be a self-defense shooting.

It happened around 1 p.m. at a business on the 3100 block of Valley View Boulevard near Desert Inn Road.

Authorities say the manager got into an argument with the employee that escalated into a physical fight.

A second employee was asked to work an auto part that the first employee was working on. That’s when police say the employee punched the manager in the face and then hit him with a metal bar.

Pennsylvania man charged with selling guns stolen from feds

MICHAEL RUBINKAM
A Pennsylvania man has been charged with selling machine guns and other firearms and ammunition stolen from a federal storage facility in West Virginia.

Richard Adam Schreiber, 38, of Everett, was indicted Tuesday after federal agents seized about 100 guns, more than 1,300 gun components and nearly 124,000 rounds of ammunition.

Prosecutors said Schreiber plotted with a security guard who pilfered the weapons and ammunition from a gun-disposal facility in Martinsburg, West Virginia, operated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The guard, Christopher Lee Yates, told authorities he’d get to work early and make off with guns, gun parts and ammo that had been seized during criminal investigations or were retired by federal agencies.

Prosecutors said Schreiber bought some of the stolen weapons from Yates and then sold them over the internet. According to court documents in Yates’ case, Schreiber admitted that Yates sold him at least 15 rifles, at least 80 handguns — most of which were retired ATF duty weapons — and four fully automatic machine guns. Prosecutors said at least three of the stolen machine guns were recovered from the people to whom Schreiber had sold them.

Toxic Deplorable Racist B Woodman

NEVER a good idea to hit your boss……in the face……with a metal bar. He might take it personally.

If I was buying a machine gun and other components, it would be cash only, and no records.
Recovering machine guns from people he’d sold them to? (sigh……)
