Pat Tillman Award Goes to a Marine
Marine Corps veteran Kirstie Ennis already has quite the impressive resume.
The prior Marine sergeant has been attempting to climb and summit the tallest peaks on each continent. In 2015 she walked across Britain — with some help from Prince Harry. She has swam and won three gold medals in the Warrior Games. She’s a snowboarding Paralympic hopeful. She was nonprofit Pin-Ups for Vets’ first female amputee model ? and has started a successful nonprofit of her own.
And, she did it all with one leg.
Now, she will have the Pat Tillman Award for Service, given at Wednesday night’s ESPY Awards, to add to her collection of accolades. – article
There was an article about her hike in the UK, before her second amputation. When she met Prince Harry near the end of the hike, she told him that there was pain in the injured knee and she’d probably have a second amputation.
Glad to see this award given to a deserving person.

She’s a great story and an interesting follow on social media if you are at all possessing a social media presence.
Following her in almost real time up Everest was very interesting. What I like is her blunt admission it wasn’t her alone, but a great support system that got her where she is now. I would argue with her a little (and I have on social media) that what that support system did was simply re-energize the drive that she already possessed. The results are amazing. She is one tough Marine, and between her and John Peck I’m reminded that I have nothing, nothing at all to complain about in this world.
BZ Former Marine SGT Kirstie Ennis. A true Warrior Athlete, deserving of this Award, and a real cutie pie too.
