Man charged in reported South Bend home invasion, attempted rape
By Lincoln Wright
SOUTH BEND — A man has been charged in connection to a alleged home invasion and attempted rape.Joshua Black, 29, was charged Friday with burglary, strangulation, attempted rape and sexual battery.
He allegedly entered the unlocked front door of a home in the 500 block of 27th Street Wednesday about 9 a.m. while armed with a handgun. A female victim, whose two young children were also home at the time, was asleep on a mattress in the living room, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The victim told police she did not know the suspect.
While the woman was asleep, Black reportedly began rubbing the woman’s upper thigh and buttocks, which caused the woman to wake up.
She attempted to pull away and began struggling with Black. During the struggle, the woman noticed there was a handgun on the floor. The woman tried to get up from the mattress and Black pushed her back down stating if she didn’t “do this right now” he would hurt her, according to court documents.
Each time the victim tried to fight back, Black would reportedly grab her by the throat preventing her from moving and breathing. Black repeatedly tried to sexually assault the woman, according to court documents, and she believed he was going to rape her.
Eventually when Black let go, the woman lunged for the gun on the floor. The woman told police she held the gun while in the fetal position and Black grabbed her throat from behind and strangled her until she began to lose consciousness.
The victim said Black then let go and she rolled over and pointed the gun at him yelling for Black to get out of her house. Black then fled from the home, according to court documents. The victim also found items missing from her purse.

Black has an active warrant in Kalamazoo County, Mich., for larceny. Black is being held in jail until his bail hearing Monday. The prosecutor’s office is asking for a bond of no less than $50,000.

A Trifecta, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, no morts or fleeing felons to report. Three inconvenienced, at least for a while. While $50K sounds like a lot, the Bail Bondsman will charge 10% to cover the bail, and out he goes.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Just keeps getting better and better. A FIRST 4 peat, house full of Family, food for days laid out, and more dirtbags off the streets, albeit temporarily.
Plus another Dumbassery Award…Baseball bat to a gun fight.
Miss Thang doing a fine job of pulling off the “School Girl” look.
Look closely, 7/15. Unless that’s a ‘Wolf Ring” she’s Mrs. Thang.
AW1Ed,
Hope all is well.

There was a ring? Somehow I missed that.
Thangfully Miss Thang has the safety on even though the weapon’s charging handle is forward on the receiver.
Well matched, Uzis in both the lead pic and with the scrawny blonde.
I wouldn’t call her scrawny (at least not with that Uzi in her hands), but I wouldn’t call her a heifer either.
I see the Lawyer went to bat for the guy who pulled out the bat but batted out when it went to the DA’S office. Attempted assault and Bat ery???
Snerk!
