Father shoots, kills home intruder in Lancaster
A man was fatally shot after allegedly breaking into a Lancaster home.
LANCASTER, Calif. (KABC) — A man was fatally shot after allegedly breaking into a Lancaster home on Sunday.
The shooting happened around 6:45 a.m. in the 45100 block of Loma Vista Drive.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detectives say the man got into the home through one of the downstairs rear windows and walked into an upstairs bedroom.
That’s when the homeowner who feared for the safety of himself and his children grabbed a gun and fired a shot, which struck the suspect in the upper torso, according to authorities.
The family inside the home at the time was not injured.
It appears the same suspect may have tried to break into other homes in the neighborhood first. Doorbell video from one home shows the man on a front porch trying to enter.
Residents of the neighborhood are feeling on edge about their own safety after the incident and say they believe their neighbor was justified in the shooting.

Well now Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, we have a Trifecta the hard way, none inconvenienced, one in the wind hopefully impacting his options on alternate means of making a living, and a shot door. Not sure how to score that, so I won’t.
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. — Thomas Jefferson, quoting Cesare Beccaria in On Crimes and punishment (1764).
Both eyes open- a good trick that only takes practice. Lots of practice.

Hopefully the bullet hole in the door got there via the bullet going through the perp first.
Still winning. Gun control means hitting your target….Door Lives Matter.
Wouldn’t mind lots of practice with little Miss Golden Hair Surprise. She got both of my eyes wide open.
“shot after allegedly breaking into a Lancaster home”
Seems to be a common theme on daily FGS.
Be patient when someone is breaking down the door…wait until they are actually inside (over the goal line) before you shoot.
It makes the Leos job less complicated and you Lawer fees will be much less.
Good to hear no one was immediately arrested in the “slayings” in Hesperia! Two people break in, assault home owner, get shot by “other resident” and die. Not sure how that is a slaying? Were they bating the criminals to break in and assault the elderly homeowner? Did they give up, and were killed after they surrendered? These liberal journalists need to work on their adjective use!
Yes MI Ranger, those are the wrong adjectives here. It’s “shooting in self-defense” in Texas. Even in very blue Houston… it’s still Texas! (If you look at past feel good stories, you know that breaking into a Texan’s home is tantamount to suicide by cop).
FWIW, a friend of Mrs. GB’s down in South Texas had an incident last night of gunshots and sirens, then some guy walking by with plastic coke bottles tied to his shoes.
She stays locked and loaded, with security cameras and all in place.
Too many (D) voters heading north to the polls and welfare rolls.
