Female Scout Sniper Leaders Course Grad
NewsRep reports that for the first time in history a female has graduated the Marine Corps Scout Sniper Leaders Course.
A female Marine lieutenant has become the first woman in history to graduate from the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Scout Sniper Unit Leaders Course. Previously, the Marine officer, who is a candidate for a Ground Intelligence Officer (0203) Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), was the second female to successfully complete the Infantry Officer Course.
She is now almost qualified to lead a Scout Sniper platoon or apply for reconnaissance training. According to the Marine Corps Training and Education Command, the female officer had, in fact, finished Scout Sniper school back in July, but due to operational security reasons, it wasn’t publicized until now.
The article emphasized that the Marine Corps Scout Leaders Course is separate and distinct from the basic Scout Sniper course, which junior enlisted Marines attend to in order to become qualified snipers. The basic Scout Sniper school is two-and-half months long and one of the more intensive training programs in the entire USMC.
The article goes on to say…
Despite the integration of women into combat and Special Operations positions, there still haven’t been any female Navy SEALs, Green Berets, Recon Marines, Marine Raiders, or Pararescuemen.

Steve is correct than no female has yet to be awarded the Green Beret. However, one is currently in the pipeline to do so.

Also of note, is that 75th Ranger Regiment has assigned females now. So now they will all have long hair…just saying! RLTW

Quick question: If she’s going for the 0203 MOS, why did she attend IOC? Did she discover that while IOC is tough, being an actual hump a ruck grunt is a lot tougher than the school?
USMC Ground Intel officers must complete the IOC and Sniper Leader prior to ground intel officer courseThey become Scout Sniper PLs and IN BN Intel officers, among other things.

As a former airborne infantry battalion S-2, I have been called ‘intel weenie’ by the best of them. Of course, I always thought of the line from Starship Troopers (the great book, not the campy movie’:: ‘everybody jumps, everybody fights’.
On at least two occasions I was side by side with infantrymen as they earned their CIB and earned nothing.
During one CIB ceremony, the commander was in the act of pinning it on my chest (I was a 2LT and didn’t know any better), when the CSM stopped him. CSM winked at me, put it in my hand, and said ‘wear it under your pocket flap, LT’.
Ironically, he was awarded a CIB with star, (he was a VN SF Soldier), and they retracted the star since DS/DS didn’t count…
Vietnam and ANYTHING after would get you a SECOND award of the CIB.
Grenada and anything after that UNTIL 9/11 gets you only the one CIB.
So…….Grenada and Panama. One CIB. Grenada,Panama,Desert Storm, ONE CIB. etc.
Got one BEFORE 9/11 and do the same-gets you a star.

So, did they have female shooters? Yes. Staggering kill totals? Why would we believe any such Stalin-stats?
My foster father/mentor was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1940, where he served for five years on the Eastern Front, was wounded seven times, and when the war ended, marched into Soviet captivity in Courland where he spent three years in Stalin’s labor camps. He told me that early in the war, in the Crimea, the Commissars sent waves of young women (girls, actually) and teenage boys at the German positions, where they were killed by the hundreds. Throwing women “soldiers” at the Wehrmacht wasn’t uncommon early in the war, but they learned that it just caused excessive casualties among both the men and women, so they ceased the “integrated” units as the war progressed. They continued to have women in the military police, intelligence and logistics, but women in combat units became very rare. By the way, the Israelis learned the same lesson in 1947 – so today, contrary to rumor and propaganda, no Israeli women serve in combat units.
