For the First Time in my Adult Life, I am TERRIFIED for my Country!
Hyperbole, you say? If this story from the UK Telegraph is even remotely true, Terrified may be an understatement.
Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been “overwhelmed” by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.
Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president’s surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.
A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama’s inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to “even fake an interest in foreign policy”.
The American source said: “Obama is overwhelmed. There is a zero sum tension between his ability to attend to the economic issues and his ability to be a proactive sculptor of the national security agenda.
“That was the gamble these guys made at the front end of this presidency and I think they’re finding it a hard thing to do everything.”
Even the colossal dumb ass Joe Biden warned that the Presidency is no place for on the job training.
One thing I have discovered in life and almost always at the peril of the “leader” in charge is that the higher pay grade of the amateur the more catastrophic his decisions will be for the institution. In this case the institution is the United States of America.
Almost by definition an amateur is ultimately destined to screw up something significant. The larger his scope of responsibility and power the greater the risk that the screw up will be far reaching enough to actually put the viability of the institution in grave danger.
Obviously the presidency is a very dangerous place to put a rookie.
I have seen totally unqualified people placed in positions of responsibility over the years for a variety of reasons and I can’t recall a single instance where the individual succeeded. Watching the train wreck is never pretty and always follows a similar pattern. This is where my fear comes from.
Incompetency – Overwhelm – Exhaustion – Panic – Catastrophe
Is it time to be afraid? Gold soaring, gun sales spiking, stock market plummeting, unemployment rising, taxes soaring and massive inflation right around the corner…
Yeah, I think it’s getting time to be very concerned where this amateur is taking our country.

Back in the days of the COB Blog, this very scenario was kicked around between the writer and we readers. Back then the consensus was that a train wrect was imminent, and for the conservatives, we’d be better off if there were no Republican fingerprints on the wheel of it. That still holds true, but I share the fear with you, that there may not be much of a country left after these morons screw it all up, give up our position in the world, and erode our values.
One of the contributing factors, (as if “they” needed any) is the lack of confidence by the American people, including those who voted for him who are intelligent enough to see the light, (oxymoron here), and the cloud of doubt over his eligibility, by birthright. He promised transparency, but hired lawyers to keep his birthright under cover.
He demonstrates no interest in generating respect for himself, either from his citizenry, or the foreign leaders. He has sold Israel down the river, capitulating with the Hamas/Hezbollah/Taliban types, and is making off the cuff statements that violate all state security things that you and I know should be followed.
Do any of us here at TAH see a way out of this morass?
nuf sed
I agree with everything you said, COB6.
Just as an interesting bit of trivia: The word amateur is French in origin and its original meaning is “one who loves”. I think it’s pretty clear that Obama is not exactly filled with love for America (or at least not for 90 percent of its citizens) and in *that* sense he is no amateur.
*wiping* cleaning the car interior/exterior….keep your socks on ladies and gents in case they can trace footprints.
*sigh*
Well, I am inclined to agree. Kid 3 saw the Drudge report about the norks. Sugar Daddy made an off-handed comment about the fact that it looks like we need to wonder what we will or won’t wake up to and she freaked out. THAT makes me fearful.
Looking back through his adult life, Obama really didn’t have a real job. He was a community organizer, he went to law school and although he did work for a law firm, from what I’ve read, his participation was minimal. He was a lecturer at U of Chicago School of Law, he was on the board for the Annenberg Challenge and the Woods Fund. His first political office was basically given to him and although he did run against Alan Keyes for the US Senate seat, Keyes had absolutely no chance of winning as he came into the race so late. He’s a con man and he and his handlers sure pulled one over on his kool-aid drinkers!
I predict the Dear Leader will have a nervous breakdown in the next 4 months. We won’t learn of it that way, of course. It will just be an extended vacation of sorts.
Ok, now just wait a minute. Just because someone quotes “a well connected American source” doesnt mean its true! My god, I bet you all could quote hundreds of “well connected sources” that would tell us Bush was a good President?
Until they have a press conference, or until someone puts their name to their claim, this is all just propaganda, and I would have hoped you idiots were smarter then this.
Posting a bunch of BS in a back corner where only republicans talk, and then commenting about how glorious it is, isnt really accomplishing much, is it…
I mean seriously, you all might as well put on Tutu’s and call your self ballerinas….its about as convincing as calling yourself patriots…
COB6 Wrote: Can you read fuckstick? Do you recognize the word that starts the second sentence? That is called a qualifier dumbass! And believe me, questioning my patriotism only exposes you as the enormous ass clown that you are.
One thing that has saved many an incompetent leader is being surrounded by betterr qualified people. Unfortunately that is not the case here. Most of his cabinet pickes and advisors are products of the same political machine which bred Barack and in a lot of cases are merely individuals with their own personal liberal/progressive agendas, who now drunk with power are going full steam ahead with their pie in the sky dreams.
There is no safety net in this administration. No voice of sanity. It is hard to be optimistic.
I want to believe, have to believe that somehow we can survive this, no matter how battered and bruised we may get.
And that is about as optimistic as I can get.
“Until they have a press conference,” that would be one of those affairs where they hand out a number to the lucky 5 or 6 they want to call on? SD, you continue to prove that adage that fools should keep their mouths shut, lest they remove all doubt they are, in fact, fools.
We can only hope that the 0’ster gets so “tired” that he can’t FUBAR this whole world.
Uh oh…a damn Southern Democrat has COB all pissed off. He has no idea what he’s done…unpatriotic? Hehe.
I had no idea there were any more Southern Democrats. That post proves why we did away with that breed years ago in Texas.
