Residents fight off burglars during home invasion, 1 still on the run

Amber Jayanth, Fox19

Area homeowners recently fought back after two men broke into their home.

Ludlow police were called to a home on the 400 block of Oak Street around 7 p.m. on Wednesday after getting a call about a home invasion. Dillon Schuler was in the home with his family and two children when he says he had to fight for his life.

“I heard loud foot steps like elephant herds coming up the steps,” said Schuler.

He says he was in the bathroom when Kameron Turney and another man walked into his sister’s bedroom.

“I was in the shower and I heard my sister screaming my name and I walk up to the room and my sister’s boyfriend had him lying on the ground and I was so confused because I thought they were wrestling,” said Schuler.

He quickly realized that it wasn’t a game and jumped in to take down the burglar while the other thief ran off.

“My sister was like, ‘He has a gun.’ I reach for the gun, slipped it through his hands and grabbed it out,” said Schuler.

Woman arrested after shootout outside Wawa in Orlando

Orlando, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) – The Orlando Police Department misidentified the person arrested Thursday night during a child-custody dispute that ended in gunfire. It happened at a Wawa gas station on the corner of South Kirkman Road and Raleigh Street.

30-year-old Britney Gunn was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm. The police report says Gunn and a child’s Mother got into a fight with the child’s Father during a custody exchange. The report says the suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at the Father. Police say he shot back with his own gun.

Knife to a gunfight, again. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Richmond clerk fires gun at knife-carrying robber: ‘I had to take action’

By: Jon Burkett
RICHMOND, Va. — Three people were arrested after a convenience store robbery Tuesday night: two brothers and their female friend.

The question now facing investigators: are they linked to more than a dozen knife robberies in metro Richmond over the past two weeks? And if so, which brother came close to being seriously hurt by a clerk with a gun.

“It just took me back,” said Elias Haddad. “It took me back to what happened before.”

Included in that frightening string of robberies was an attempted robbery at the Cary Street Mini-Mart by a man with a knife. That terrible incident brought back bad memories for Haddad.

“My dad got hit before and got stabbed in the neck,” he said Wednesday.

On Sunday, Haddad’s wife was working the register, when a knife-wielding robber suddenly stormed in.

In the video, which is now evidence, you can see the robber was surprised by Haddad who makes it look like he’s complying, then pulls out a gun and fires, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett.

“I was in the shower and I heard my sister screaming my name”

Taking a morning shower starts with making sure the house doors are locked and the bathroom door is left open.
Old guy living alone without a dog.

Somebody likes S&W revolvers.

Ahhh, gun pr0n of the medium caliber wheel variety. Better known as foreplay.

Story 1…yep door locks and a dog. Are we sure that the pictured dindu wasn’t just looking for a choir robe donation?

# 2..Didn’t make a lot of sense. Sister Mary Grace could find gainful employment there with that reporter.

# 3..Again, pistol trumps knife. They’ll never learn.

David

Nickel plated M19 at a guess. trying to figure out if those are Roper grips?

Ex-PH2

Sister Mary Grace fell off her chair laughing at the #2 story. It is as clear as mud. Who Dun What to Who?

While my carry isn’t a S&W,it is a 38 SPL Taurus wheel gun. Having only 6 shots may sound like to few to the Spray and Pray types with their Tupperware types, my range time, makes me more apt to hit where I need to. I always have a speedloader in a pocket, and two more in my vehicle as well as one or more long guns. I love my old single shot 12 gauge, “Legal short barrel shotgun” that is always at hand in the cab of my pickup. Having the pleasure of a home range, I shoot from 25 to 75 rounds nearly every day, and do it using as much realism as possible. I call it tactical shooting, either from multiple positions, and/or switching from right to left hand between each shot, whether using handgun or long gun. I have no intention of being either a victim or a statistic.

Tallywhagger

I used to do the hand switching exercise, good practice and, at least for me, the accuracy is still there. At a guess, it’s probably more to do with the dominant eye vs the dominant hand.

Unbelievable as it may be, Taurus firearms cannot be purchased in Massachusetts. I have not been here long enough to know why. Evidently, Colt revolvers are not readily available in The Bay State, either.

Switching long guns from right to left feels a bit more awkward than handguns.

It’s early, but Sister Mary Grace is always on the prowl with her No. 15 yellow pencil.

“RICHMOND, Va. — Three people were arrested after a convenience store robbery Tuesday night: two brothers and their female friend.” – 3rd article

The attempt to be clear is hampered by Mr. Burkett’s lack of simplicity: “Two brothers and their femaile friend were arrested….”

It appears that Mr. Burkett has a love of colons. Perhaps he needs to pay a visit to a good internist with GI tract experience. 🙂 If that isn’t so, then he’s trying to become a famous novelist.

Gunn VS Gunn, they both really gunned it against each other and neither were out Gunned.Too bad there wasn’t a Gunnshoe around to stop the Gunn fight.

He could have pulled out a Radar Gun that uses a Gunn Diode to shoot a microwave beam.
Harmless but way cool to a M/W geek like me.

Does anyone know what the engineering modifications are on the 686-8? I didn’t know that there was such a model until last week when a used model showed up at four Seasons Gun Store.

Tallywhagger

It is a six shot with a four inch barrel and the usual Hogue soft grip, stainless steel frame and a locking mechanism. The usual 686 sights, I don’t see what modifications there are from previous dash versions.

At a guess, maybe the frame is different, perhaps an N frame or maybe a lighter frame.

Searching the internet turns up with about nothing other than verifying that there is such a model.

An ‘Earth-shattering Kaboom!’

26Limabeans

The 681 is a 686 without the rear sight. Nothing to snag on the drop.
Otherwise identical.
The narrow sharp edged hammer is a weapon in itself. Gloves recommended for old hands. It will rip you thumb.

rgr769

The revolver in your graphic, AW1Ed, is a Smith & Wesson stainless steel version of the Model 19 (always .357 Magnum with a six shot cylinder), with aftermarket wood grips (likely coco bolo). For about 40 years it was on of S&W’s most popular revolvers. In the 70s it was the most common police carried revolver.

rgr769

The most accurate .38 I ever owned was an S&W model 10 heavy barrel shooting handloaded full wadcutters. My Colt SAA’s in 38-40 are a close second, but they have had action and trigger jobs.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

rgr769;
When I started my job back in June of 1970, I was issued the S&W .38 Cal M 10/bull barrel. Couldn’t kill them since they were great for knocking on bank doors after hours when you had a delivery to make. After 9/11 we were issued S&W M 4046’S in .40 Cal

Tallywhagger

Is that the model that weighs in around 4 pounds?

I had an Anaconda and Mdl 29, both in .44 Mag and both were too heavy for my comfort. Moreover, the muzzle blast from the .44 is cruel to anyone within the concussion zone, as happens at shooting ranges.

The 29 was setup for deer hunting, replete with a Burris scope and chest holster.

rgr769

No, a Model 10 does not weigh 4 pounds. No pistol in .44 mag is comfortable to shoot. .44 Special is quite manageable recoil-wise.

26Limabeans

I now believe it is a Taurus 689.
My apologies to Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson.

Tallywhagger

We are not allowed to purchase Taurus or Colt revolvers in Massachusetts.

The 689 is a very nice replica of the real thing.

FWIW, if anyone is interested, Four Seasons Guns in Waltham, MA is selling S&W 686s in various bbl lengths for… wait for it… $686!

Hondo

Nice revolver, and nice cartridge. But the caption accompanying the graphic has a couple of problems.

1. In the context in the caption, “foot-pounds” is a unit of energy, not force. Specifically, here it’s the kinetic energy of the bullet at muzzle.

2. With a muzzle energy velocity of 1400 fps but only 300 ft-lbs of energy, that’s spectacularly crappy .357 Mag ammo. (Many .38 Special loads have nearly that much energy at the muzzle of a 4″ barrel.) Most good .357 Mag loads have around 600 ft-lbs energy at the muzzle of a 4″ barrel.
