No charges expected in Dale County shooting
By: Mike Gurspan
DALE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — No charges are expected in a Dale County shooting that happened earlier this week.
On Wednesday morning, an argument between two truck drivers concerning a parking space at a convenience store outside of Clayhatchee led to a shooting.
Dale County sheriff officials said they believe the shooting was an act of self-defense.
At the time of the shooting, a log truck driver who fired the gun was reportedly being tased by a fuel truck operator.
The fuel truck driver was shot twice in the neck with a .22 caliber handgun, but he’s expected to survive.
Despite no charges being filed, we were told the incident could later be presented to a Dale County grand jury.

Broken Arrow Homeowner Shoots Suspected Burglar, Police Say
By: Emory Bryan
TULSA, Oklahoma – Five people are in jail after Broken Arrow police say a group of intruders tried breaking into a home. But, the homeowner shot one of them.
Police have not said if the suspects and the homeowner had any dealings before but said it was unusual for that many people to show up to burglarize a house during the night.
The neighborhood woke up early on Thanksgiving. It was about 4:45 in the morning when gunfire came out of a house near North 31st St. and Kenosha.
“It woke me up and they were rapid, one right after another 5 or 6 shots, and it scared me. It sounded close like it was right here,” said neighbor James Larkins.
The shots were close; right next door. The homeowner fired the shots, according to police, who said he was shooting at a group of intruders.
“The suspect was at the door when he was shot. What you see here in the street was where he was moved for lifesaving measures,” said Detective Sergeant Ian Buchanan.
Police said the man who was shot was hit several times, had a critical injury, and needed surgery. There were several other men with him, but they were not hit, and the bullets didn’t hit nearby houses.
Police said they were unsure why a large group would target this house early Thanksgiving morning.

“tased by a fuel truck operator”
Taser/Fuel truck. Think about it.
What could possibly go wrong? 🙂
Um, big BOOM.
Several hours for a search warrant, oh it was in Oklahoma, them folks there do kinda run on a slower schedule than most others.
Why would a house be targeted on Thursday morning? Turkeys.
Because folks are home to open the safe, provide pin codes to cards, reveal any stashes, and generally the alarm is not set.
One assumes burglars are solo, but unless one is home when they hit, you really can’t tell how many folks burgled a home absent some significant work.
Crime is -often- a team sport, including burglaries. If you awake to a break-in, do not assume it is a lone crook, even if you only seem to hear one. There may be a driver and or lookout outside, or the other one may have gone hidey when he heard you. Gangs have been known to use “kids” for overwatch and recon, and/or as porters, and one cannot count on them to be unarmed/unwilling. Kids are routinely tasked to hide/hold contraband, including guns, when police arrive. Many of them would jump at the opportunity to level-up in the gang, by busting a cap on you.
My daughter was burgled while her home was staged for an open house showing, as it was for sale. Two females sat in a car in front of the house smoking for over an hour, according to a neighbor. Based on the items stolen, it is likely the two females were involved. The thieves took a number of items the no self-respecting male crack addict would want (some children’s toys and bedding). But since they took a washer and dryer, there had to be some males involved.
I was thinking it was a drug deal gone bad. Just my uneducated opinion.
Or, wrong house.
I’ll stop my tazer trolling. It’s not funny when it leads to .22 caliber neck shots. Ouch!
I condone conceal carry, with second magazine, self defense ammo, training and familiarization with your setup, and a mental state while in public that keeps you from starting anything. Then in the event you have to shoot someone, there is little reason to question your use of deadly force.
It was fun though Dwight. You are a good sport. 🙂
Tazers and guns both have their place depending on circumstances. There are some idiots that are allowed to carry guns as was exhibited by and FBI agent in state here that apparently was at a club (thought the bars were non carry areas enforced) and attempted to impress the crowd with his dancing (next question is alcohol content which was never reported) in the process his gun fell off his person and when he picked it up it went off hitting a person nearby. Lots of fishy going on here.
Frantic grab of falling/fallen Glock, or other semi-action with a trigger-mounted “safety”.
Recipe for noisy excitement.
Saw that video. What an asshole that dude was.
Bernathian class asshole.
Also a feelgood story of a slightly different nature, Parkland shooting survivor Kyle Kashuv has started a petition to nominate Peter Wang, the 15-year-old JROTC cadet who exposed himself to the oxygen-thieving-asshole’s fire to hold a door open and allow his classmates to escape, saving dozens of lives, and was fatally shot in the process, for the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Nice.
Just in case some of you do a lot of commercial flying and think you know the system. We all know that many flights have armed Air Marshals on board and probably some of you spend some of your time during the flight trying to figure out who it is. Well surprise, surprise, surprise, there might be someone else on board your flight that also, despite the fact they are not paid for the flight as well as they themselves paid to fly for a vacation or another personal matter, armed, no they did not go thru the same security as you did but because of their position and duty with the government, on or off duty, as soon as they enter the secure area of any airport they also assume the same duty as an Air Marshal.
Sat next to an air marshal one flight. Looked like a normal albeit large civilian… his T-shirt rode up a bit and he saw me eyeing the bottom of his holster. Asked me not to make a fuss and that was the end of it. Kinda nice knowing a pro was aboard.
Anyone who is part of homeland security and who’s duty involves carrying a side arm while on duty also assumes the status of an Air Marshal when ever flying, is a bunch that you do not know about besides the usual ones.
Bernathian class asshole.
