3 More Get Their Punishment
Three more Navy personnel have been indicted in the ongoing Fat Leonard case.
From the article:
A federal grand jury in San Diego on Friday charged three retired sailors — a captain and two senior enlisted personnel — in the ongoing Fat Leonard corruption scandal.
Unsealed indictments allege that Capt. David Williams Haas, 50, took at least $145,000 in bribes from Leonard Glenn “Fat Leonard” Francis, the Malaysian tycoon and defense contractor who since his late 2013 arrest in a San Diego sting has ratted out a string of corrupt sailors who steered ships to his port services.
The portly Francis plied commanders and other key figures with cash, “Thai SEAL team” prostitutes, luxury resort rooms and other perks in order to bilk $35 million from American taxpayers.
Prosecutors have charged 32 defendants and 20 have pleaded guilty to public corruption charges over the past five years.
Separate indictments released Friday targeted retired Master Chief Petty Officer Ricarte Icmat David, 61, and retired Chief Petty Officer Brooks Alonzo Parks for allegedly taking other perks from Francis.
Thanks to AW1Ed for the heads up on this.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I hope they enjoyed the party because now they have one HELL of a tab to pay!
Dragging ’em back from retirement, excellent.
It’s more than a little shocking at just how widespread this is/was. Did not a single person at the top of any of these ships and commands think this was a bad idea? Looking the other way is almost as bad as participating.
Considering the rank levels involved in this, and when it took place, I want to know how any of them thought they’d get away with it.
I think they all 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 they were going to get away with it. 🙂
PH & Mason: Isn’t it hilarious that so many senior enlisted and officer personnel thought, with so many privy and complicit in the thievery, that NOBODY would rat them out? The old adage is that two can keep a secret provided one of them is dead. If not bad enough, they left an electronic trail of their dishonesty. Any who knew of this bullshit but did not directly participate and profit, were giving tacit approval by saying nothing. I’m particularly saddened by the E-7 and E-9 who greased their palms. They are NOT a CPO and MCPO. They bring great discredit to the Chief’s Mess.
One thing that has been discussed here before is that when these scumbags lose all their retired pay and benefits, their spouse also takes the hit. I wish there was some means of throwing the military members under the bus while protecting the dependents.
Draining the swamp includes military members as well. This crap makes me sick that those in whom much is entrusted would sell out their country for a buck, a blowjob and room service. Fuck them.
Squids.
KA-BLAM!
Black-shoes…
“to bilk $35 million from American Taxpayers.” And like the “SEAL Team Prostitutes” we got screwed. BTW, Navy Captain 0-6, what would be his retirement at full bennies. 145,000 2 years of bennies ? And the Chiefs? Thought Navy Chiefs were smarter than this. The dumbassery was strong through out. Help me here Sailors.
Those two aren’t “Chiefs”… they forfeited that title when they started to engage in that shitbaggedry. They became “E-9” and “E-7”.
No real CPO Mess would even let then in to smell the coffee…
What I figured. Thanks for clearing some of that up for me.

Actually, NOT recalling them to active duty for trial from retirement. That would entitle them to full pay and allowances, free JAG defense attorneys, housing, with all the perks of being a flag officer, including appearing for trial in full uniform with awards and decorations.
Instead, they were indicted in a federal court, just like any other common criminal is charged.
They will fund their own defense, and appear in civilian clothing.
As Al Capone is reported to have said when he was informed of the official name of his case: “The United States of America vs. Alphonse Capone” he turned to his lawyer and said: “What kind of odds is that?”
^LIKE^
My point was, even though retired they still were culpable for the crimes they committed while on AD, not that they were re-instated to their former rank and privileges. Subtle nuance is hard to convey on a blog post.
So fuck ’em and hang ’em out to dry in the wind.
And in the meantime, another US Army General Officer has been relieved of Command:
https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2018/08/22/two-star-army-general-relieved-amid-investigation/
“The commander of the Army’s Combined Arms Support Center and Fort Lee, Virginia, was removed from his position Wednesday, a Training and Doctrine Command spokesman has confirmed to Army Times.
Maj. Gen. Paul Hurley had served as commander of the Army’s sustainment think tank and learning institution since June 2017.
“He is currently the subject of an official investigation, and we cannot comment further at this time,” Maj. Thomas Campbell, the TRADOC spokesman, told Army Times.
Hurley was relieved due to a loss of confidence in his ability to lead, Campbell added ― a catch-all statement that can cover everything from misconduct to inappropriate behavior.”
Although maybe not applicable in this case, “loss of confidence” can also mean they weren’t enough of a suck-up.
Was Captain David Haas a US Navy SEAL officer? If not, how did he qualify to receive the services of Thai SEAL team prostitutes? I guess with Fat Leonard throwing sea bags of cash around, the prostitutes had no qualms ignoring loyalty to their own special operator community. They’re called “women of negotiable virtue” for good reason.
