Monday morning feel good stories

From Everett, Washington;

The homeowner, who did not want to be identified, woke up and went downstairs. She was horrified to see intruders in her home, but her reaction isn’t what most people would have expected.

“I look over to the left and there’s these two guys dressed in black,” she said. “I just completely run after them and somehow, I was able to kind of grab a hold and tackle one guy.”

She told KIRO the intruders seemed shocked and frightened by her brave and brazen behavior.

One of them was carrying a machete that he had stolen from the homeowner’s garage. He could have attacked her with it, but the woman tackled him anyway.

“I managed to grab him so hard he dropped everything that he was trying to take with him” she said. “All I wanted to do was grab them, then attack them and take them down. I don’t care about what he has as a weapon.”

The intruders ran away, but the homeowner continued to chase them down the street, where a female getaway driver was waiting.

From Orlando, Florida;

Orlando Police tell News 6 it all started when a passenger waiting at a gas pump tried to rob another man using a nearby pump. The two began shooting at one another, and a third man who was inside the convenience store also started shooting when he returned outside.

One vehicle fled the area, eluded police and was stopped by police near Willow Bend and Silver Star Roads without incident, according to police.

One innocent person parked at the site was injured by broken glass when a bullet hit his windshield, police said.

“I was up here getting gas, pumping up my tire and three guys were at the gas pump and started shooting, 27-year-old Tavaris Davis said. “I ducked, my windshield got hit and then I took off running.”

Davis, who has a cut on his nose from the broken glass, ran from the area of the shooting into Willow Bend in an attempt to flee to a safe area, but was robbed by three different unknown in a black BMW, police said. Orlando Police Department units conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle matching its description in the area of Silver Star Rd./Ashland Blvd. and all occupants were detained.

Police said two handguns were discovered inside the vehicle after a search of its interior.

Felonious charges are pending for the driver and occupants, according to authorities.

“I’m just glad they got caught,” Davis said. “Today was a bad day but it will get better.”

Real talk sends a link from Sweetwater, Tennessee;

15-year-old Alexis Taylor was home alone with her 14-year-old sister Madison when she says a silver car backed up their driveway.

“Instantly, I knew something was wrong,” said Alexis.

Their dad, Jeremy, was at work. Alexis called to ask if they should be expecting anyone.

Jeremy told his daughter that he didn’t know the car or the person in it.

“You always play the hypothetical game with your children. What if? You run through scenarios. If this happens, this is what you do. You try to plan for them for every scenario and every case but until it actually happens, you just can’t put them in that situation,” said Jeremy.

From inside the home, Alexis and Madison watched the stranger through the window.

Alexis says she saw the man load two pressure washers from her family’s carport into his car.

The girls say he then made his way to their front door.

“That’s what scared me because I was thinking, well, if he gets in here, what could happen to me, what could happen to my sister,” said Alexis.

Alexis’ father, over the phone, told her to “get the shotgun.”

Her father says he stressed the importance of firearm safety with his daughters at a young age.

“I was confident enough to know that she knew how to use the firearm if needed,” said Jeremy.

With her 14-year-old sister inside, Alexis says she then snuck around the side of the house, shotgun in hand, to confront the intruder.

From the corner of the home, she saw the man playing with the handle of the front door.

The man noticed Alexis out of the corner of his eye and made his way back to his car.

Once he was in the car, she walked closer to him.

“During that time my instinct was just telling me, I can’t let him leave with what he had of ours,” she said.

Alexis said she fired the gun at the man’s car after “he started the ignition and took off.” She claims she hit the car.

McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy says Alexis did the right thing.

“I guess I’m a little old-fashioned and I respect the rights of my citizens to defend themselves and defend their property,” said Sheriff Guy.

To the young lady in Kiro, WA: attagirl! Keep it comin’!

Ditto the girls in Sweetwater, TN: and don’t hold back, either!

Sister Mary Grace notices this: “Felonious charges are pending for the driver and occupants, according to authorities.”

Excuse me, but “felonious” charges? Doesn’t that make them illegal charges, as opposed to “felony” charges?
“felonious”: relating to or involved in crime.
“they turned their felonious talents to the smuggling trade”
In re legal matters: relating to or of the nature of felony.
“his conduct was felonious”

Reporter gets a smack on the knuckle from Sister Mary Grace’s No. 15 yellow pencil and an assignment to find a thesaurus and use it. And stop being a pretentious bimp.

Gee. And for over 40 years I’ve thought “Felonius” was one of Walter Becker and Donald Fagan’s old friends. (smile)

“I guess I’m a little old-fashioned and I respect the rights of my citizens to defend themselves and defend their property,” said Sheriff Guy.

Kudos to the Sherriff.

Orlando sounds like scumfuck central. Guy almost get killed by idiot shootout and while fleeing gets robbed by another group of scumfucks. That city has a lot of explaining to do.

AW1Ed

Parents retired to Maitland, on the outskirts of Orlando. Nice little burg, and just close enough when I was stationed in Jax to take Mrs. AW1Ed and our boys to visit.

That was long ago- I wouldn’t go there now on a bet.

My kids had the means to defend themselves from the age at which it was legal to do so. Raise your kids right and this isn’t an issue.

She does need to be schooled on shooting at a thief fleeing with your property. Mostly not legal in Tennessee. Other than that good job.

“Sir, I was in fear of my and my sister’s lives, and thought he was coming back to harm us.”

Case closed.

Also, no politician, err, State’s Attorney with hopes of re-election, would press charges against her. Especially in Tennessee.

But I do agree, anyone else could be in for a difficult time.
