Virginia AG files lawsuit against Charles Warren Jr. and Service Dogs by Warren Retrievers

| May 9, 2018

13 News Now reports that Virginia’s Attorney General has filed a law suit against Service Dogs by Warren Retrievers and Charles Warren Jr. for selling poorly-trained puppies under the guise of ‘diabetic alert dogs.’ Attorney General Herring has found more than 50 victims who paid $18,000 to $27,000 for each of their pups.

The lawsuit also shows the Attorney General’s investigation found the Warren claimed he trained dogs while serving in the Marine Corps, but he did not serve in any United States military branch.

Hampton Roads resident, Don Shipley is a former Navy Seal.

“This guy’s a classic example of lying about his military service to get benefits from something,” said Shipley. “It does a terrible disservice to us. You know that speaks volumes about who you are, and when it’s a lie that’s a big problem.”

Service Dogs by Warren Retrievers denies any wrong-doing, but there’s evidence that the company claimed endorsements that didn’t exist;

The report shows Attorney General Herring’s investigation found Service Dogs by Warren Retrievers also falsely claimed they have a partnership with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The JDRF Chief Mission Officer Aaron Kowalski emailed this statement: “JDRF has never endorsed the use of diabetes service dogs. To date, there has not been a sufficient amount of scientific studies performed to test their efficacy and safety.”

…and the bricks keep tumbling down.

Greed is a strong driver of these kinds of things. It’s a shame that the dogs have to be the side victims of it.

FWIW, any dog is smart enough to be trained as a service dog, including the dogs in the pound. They need to be taken out of those places and given training, which none of them received or they wouldn’t be impounded, and taught to do something useful that will make them into good household pets and/or service dogs.

Took us three years to train the world’s sweetest rescue pooch into an AKC- certified Achiever and Advanced Therapy dog.

The best dogs and cats in the world come from the pound and Humane Society. With the number of loving, sweet animals confined in these spaces, there is little reason to go to the mall looking for a pet. Also, some of the mall pets have inbred genetic defects. A pound kitty or mutt might come w/o papers, but they come with an abundance of love, asking only that they receive the same in return. Word …

I second that, every pet I ever adopted from a pound loved me right back in every way they could!

Right on! all of our dogs but one were mistreated, but turned out to be the best dogs in the world, once they found out they could trust us..the one dog that wasn’t, we bought from a so called reputible kennel/raiser..she was a great dog but died at 6 from genetic crap! another that we bought from people that were overbreeding them to get the money, (we found out too late!) and she too died at 6…its the pound for us!!

Good god man take down that photo before I bawl myself into a stroke.

There is just so much cuteness it is overwhelming.

If I was a dog, I’d be doing that sneezing thing when they get overwhelmed.

Chesapeake Bay Retrievers have an extra muscle in their snout that allows them to smile like a human.
I am waiting on a litter due next week to raise my fifth pup. Might not happen due to litter size and other parties but I am hopeful. Three thousand bucks and worth every penny.

I had a Golden that would “smile” at my Ex-wife whenever she got into trouble… pissed off the Ex to no end.

SFC D

Sammy the Wonderpuppy is a rescue Golden-doodle (looks like a scaled-down golden with curly fur on his head) that has a “happy” smile and a “I didn’t do it” smile. Sometimes he needs a therapy dog of his won.

My ex-wife and I used to breed AKC Goldens. There’s no terror like having nine of the little buggers charge you when it’s time for the puppy chow…

Ex-PH2

German Shepherds. Period.

But as I said, ANY dog can be trained to do these things. Some are great retrievers, some are great gun dogs, some are great S&R dogs. They all need training to get there.

USAFRetired

Amen. My current one just turned two and tips the scales at 92.5 pounds of muscle and hair.

USAFRetired

Okay, teeth too.

I had a German Shepherd…great dog, but stubborn lol, I also had a doberman, she was an outstanding dog and smart as a whip..took her to a 2 week obediance school, they sent her home after one week saying she had learned everything they could teach her! Due to locale, all the rest of our dogs have been small companion dogs, lhasa Aptsos and Shih tzsu, great dogs but unfortunately they have been short lived? not sure why, no one takes better care of their dogs than we do??

Ex-PH2

They probably have been short-lived due to inbreeding that you don’t know about. Small cute dogs are popular with most people, but just like the flat-faced Persian cat, they’ve been bred to be a certain way and it has massive drawbacks for them.

Um. Ah. Take a look at the info in the link below and please remember that the info is not corroborated by but merely reported.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Wow… looks like Dan Warren has been allegedly scamming people for years – and has a conviction for Felony Forgery (was put on supervised probation).

Not a good sign when the press talks to Don Shipley…

Cute pup… miss having Shelties and Goldens around.

From the link

Dan Warren, president of both Warren Enterprises LLC and Guardian Angel Service Dogs, did not respond to several messages left for him regarding information that he was found guilty on seven charges of “uttering” and seven charges of “false statement to obtain credit. Warren, whose name is actually Charles Daniel Warren Jr., was sentenced to 35 years in prison on the uttering charges and 84 months in jail on the false statement charges in the Chesterfield County Circuit Court on April 17, 2008.

The charges stemmed from Oct. 1, 2005, through Aug. 30, 2006, according to the sentencing order provided by the Chesterfield Circuit Court. Uttering, as described in Virginia law, means to pass a forged document knowing that the document is forged. Uttering is considered a Class 5 felony in Virginia and is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

Warren was able to get his entire sentence suspended and was granted supervised probation.

If still on probation can his suspended sentence be reinstated.

flogging is much more appropriate imho!

Why are there no surprises in any of this?

3/10/MED/b

Sick fuck using dogs to scam vulnerable people, take their money, and give them a false sense of security. What about the bonding these families will have with these dogs?

Sadly, to quote above, “Why are there no surprises in this?”

Did I mention sick fuck?

3/10/MED/b

“…in ANY of this?”
My apologies.

My half German Sheppard / half Lab is probably the other reason I haven’t tried to suck start my 1911 and found my wife. He was a pound pup who was neglected and then attacked by another dog. When I got him thankfully he was still a sweet loving and caring dog, though he had stitches in his face and was rail thin.

OldSoldier54

Stay classy, Charles Warren Jr.

Bozo.

Brown Neck Gaitor

Va AG has been on them since 2016, yet McAwful did a video praising them in 2017 while still Governor.

Wonder how much Terry got in puppy money…
