Ronny Jackson withdraws name from VA director nomination

| April 26, 2018

Admiral Doctor Ronny Jackson withdrew his name from nomination for the Director of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, according to Fox News;

The announcement comes after more allegations surfaced overnight, including that he crashed a government car while drunk.

Trump still defended Jackson Thursday morning and described the allegations as false.

“He would have done a great job, he has a tremendous heart,” Trump said in an interview on “Fox & Friends.” “These are false accusations, they are trying to destroy a man.”

Jackson had denied the allegations against him and as recently as Wednesday said he was looking forward to answering “everybody’s questions.”

But on Thursday morning, he pulled his name.

“The allegations against me are completely false and fabricated,” he said in a statement. “If they had any merit, I would not have been selected, promoted and entrusted to serve in such a sensitive and important role as physician to three presidents over the past 12 years.”

From CNBC;

The doctor’s withdrawal follows a bombshell New York Times report Wednesday that said Jackson allegedly provided a “large supply” of the opioid Percocet to a White House staffer, and wrecked a government car while intoxicated.

After that story was published online, Jackson told reporters that he “did not wreck a car.” Jackson, who is Trump’s personal physician in the White House, also said his nomination is “still moving ahead as planned” before walking away from reporters.

Jackson also allegedly wrote himself prescriptions, and after he was caught doing so he asked a physician assistant to provide the medication, the Times reported, citing a Democratic Senate staff summary of alleged conduct by Jackson.

The summary is based on testimony from 23 current and former colleagues of Jackson.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure this didn’t happen. The man served at the White House for 12 years for three presidents. I know what it takes to work in the White House and allegations like this would have ended his work there.

Another example of why it’s so difficult to get quality personnel into the political arena. Why put up with the headache when you can walk away and enjoy a Rear Admiral retirement? Such a waste, I was actually forward to seeing what he might be able to do with the VA.

Mason

I always said the reason we get all these nuts in Congress is because only a crazy person would run.

Some Guy

Very true, too bad we’ll never know now. On the other hand, being paid an O-7 salary to check presidential prostates isn’t a bad gig either, so I understand why he wouldn’t want to put up with the hassle in congress.

desert

I am sick to death of the lying communist media and the pathetic moronic liberal dumocraps …it doesn’t matter WHO the Prez nominates, these bastards stand in line with their lies to try and block it! Send every one of them to russia or china…see how they like that communist SHYT!!

A Proud Infidel®™

IMHO the allegations against Doctor Ronny Jackson are further proof of just what a filthy whorehouse Washington DC really is.

HMCS(FMF) ret

API… DC makes any local whorehouse look like a Fortune 500 company.

I have always wondered what George Washington would think if he were alive and saw DC now…

11B-Mailclerk

I suspect the thought would be “Fix bayonets!”

rgr769

I imagine we could find more real whores (professional prostitutes) with scruples than DC swamp critters with scruples. And if George was able to tell us, he would want the city’s name changed to Sodom or something else more reflective of its present state.

Casey

To tweak an old lawyer joke: what’s the difference between a prostitute and a DC politician? The prostitute stops screwing you after you’re dead.

desert

Agreed 100%!!

SFC D

I’ve been kicked out of more reputable whorehouses.

Mick

I find it to be quite interesting that none of RDML Jackson’s accusers have been identified.

Anonymous, baseless allegations prove to be decisive yet again.

A Proud Infidel®™

I’m sure that the allegations against RADM Jackson are less solid than the left’s Russia allegations against the Trump Administration.

Yef

I had to google that rank.

Rear Admiral.

Hehehe….The Navy does have a sense of humor.

SFC D

YEF! Why is that buffer in the hallway without you? Why is there floor wax on your nose? I want that hallway shining like a diamond in a goat’s ass, move it!

SSG D(ret)

If there wasn’t merit to the allegations, why withdraw? Playing devils advocate

2/17 Air Cav

Because who needs this shit, that’s why. He is not a politician. He isn’t running for office. He’s an appointee and if spurious allegations by anonymous sources can support a nasty story, what about the time when… must be going through his mind. He’s got a good job. Who needs this shit?

jim h

that, and in the event that he’s looking for another star, too much of this would destroy that. though it would amuse me to find that he gets his star and then reminds everyone about this after confirmation.

this is just another “resist at all costs” move. remember a few short moths ago how they were fellating him when they thought he might declare Trump unfit?

desert

Probably because Trump said, “he wouldn’t take that kind of abuse”! I agree, the admiral should have told them to stick it in their ass!

MSG Eric

The guy is going to retire and get a 6 figure pension, PLUS get any job he wants as a Doc for even more money.

Why deal with this kind of bullshit? It is the same reason why the people who would do GREAT at elected official positions, don’t get into politics. The ones that do horrible stuff get away with it and the ones that do nothing are treated like they are the villains.

If a Doctor cured Cancer and Trump wanted to hire him for anything, the media would receive all kinds of “claims” that the savior of the world drinks, abuses drugs, is a pedophile, hates black people, etc etc etc. Why? Because Trump is hiring him.

Out.

Mason

That reminds me of a trip we took one day at lunch to Hooters. It was way too far from base to be considered a lunch break destination, but it was the closest and we wanted a discounted meal. 🙂

Anyway, we get seated and we’re looking at all the pictures and see there’s one of about five guys posing in BDUs with the girls. We have a how come we’re never that lucky moment. Then I think, that guy looks familiar. They were all from my squadron.

So we weren’t the only ones going for a two hour lunch. At least we didn’t document our trip.

SFC D

Had a SSG at Huachuca that planned and organized convoy training that was a masterpiece, awesome OPORD written by a very literate SGT. Briefed it to the CO as a round trip from Huachuca to Davis-Monthan, lunch at the DFAC, and return. All was happily blessed. Except lunch was not at DM, it was at Hooters on Broadway.

sj

Round Ranger posed with the Hooter’s ladies awhile back.

The Other Whitey

They didn’t seem to care about alleged bad behavior by the guy keeping Obama healthy for 8 years, but now that Trump picks him for something it’s suddenly a big deal? Yeah, that adds so much credibility to their accusations!

2/17 Air Cav

Communists, liars by the bushel–no, they were just dandy.

D

Well, not many people even knew his name until just a few months ago. Also, there’s a pretty big difference between Doctor to the President and the VA Secretary over the second largest government department that almost all of us on this board utilize. Look, I’m not saying any of the recent allegations have merit, but one can always expect this stuff to come out for a job like this. I mean, the Navy Medical IG substantiated some different allegations on him back in 2012 regarding some divorce, so it’s not like he has a perfectly clean record.

I heard he was drunk with a woman, ran his car off a bridge, and left the woman to drown.

Anonymous sources strike again! I don’t care where Jackson serves or whether he serves any longer at all. I don’t know the man or much of anything about him, other than his job required him to be in presidential ass now and then. (Thanks, no.) What I object to are these anonymous sources who are not under oath and whose motives for spewing their crap are unknown but suspicious.

David

Especially given how many holdover WH staff probably date from the previous administration. Pity Washington and the MSM will air any allegation without proof. If all this is disproved, think it would be only fair that the original MT Dem senator who raised it should be impeached.

Non Cedo Ferio

Accusations aside, I’m not sure he had the qualifications to run the second biggest org in the government. And before ppl start getting tribal with the politics. I’ll say that I’m not partisan I’m speaking from a practical point of view . Look I’ve said it before , just because I like my mechanic , doesn’t mean I think he’s qualified to run GM.

2/17 Air Cav

You said the magic words, NCF, that “I’m not sure.” We’ll never know now and, besides, we don’t get to make the decision. Some appt’mts work and some don’t. Some of the military academies’ lowest of the low graduates turned out to be great leaders and those whose class rank was in the nose-bleed section turned out to be no leaders at all, loust tacticians, and sniverlers. What gets me about this is the timing. The so-called whistleblowers stayed silent until now and said nothing when their boss was treating presidents and performing other important duties.

Non Cedo Ferio

Yeah , your right. The timing of all these accusations is very suspect. It’s really sickening that there are those who would ruin lives to score political points esp in an election year. I know politics is an ugly business. But I also know that Joe Mc Carthys name is historical mud for ruining lives and careers in the same manner for doing exactly what is being done to Admiral Jackson.

OldSoldier54

Exactly.

11B-Mailclerk

So far, the “qualified” folks have been making a bog of it.

Ex-PH2

I did wonder how long it would take before accusations of misbehavior floated to the to of the scum in the pot known as WDC.

Not a bit surprised, and it won’t be long before they attack the next candidate for the VA head office. It won’t matter how clean his record may be, it’s a Trump appointment, so that will make it suspect!

AW1Ed

Same old same old. Remember Harry Reid, on the floor of the Senate, stating as fact Mitt Romney paid no income taxes? He was lying through his teeth, every one knew it, and no one called him out for it.
Nothing to see here, Citizen, move along.

Buckeye Jim

Believe it or not, Senators (on the floor) can say anything and legally they are not open to charges of libel/slander. Just another case of special laws for special people.

MSG Eric

Yep, it is amazing. I wonder how that became possible. Wait! I know! The same way that Congress keeps getting pay raises, they vote for it for themselves…..

rgr769

And let’s not forget Dingy Dirty Harry’s response when he was confronted about this lie. His response: “So what, the election is over and he lost.”

Wireman 611

GD it I have officially had it. If someone makes up a story and spreads it out there. And it is wrong, they should be forced to give up their job, bank account, house and everything that they hold dear.

2/17 Air Cav

What I think is that there is some small element of truth to the claims. There usually is. A Christmas party toast becomes drinking on the job. Opening a car door and whacking the vehicle next to you becomes a crash. It’s all about who has the info and what they are willing to do with it in terms of exaggeration and speculation.

OldSoldier54

This is sickening, though unsurprising.

Washington, DC is a Den of Iniquity. Calumny and Scorched Earth are the MO of the Left, and Honor is a foreign language to them. To those for whom the End Justifies the Means, this is Holy Writ.

May the Lord, Who is Sovereign, visit the Plagues of Egypt upon them and all of their Houses. May His eye be without pity, and their piteous cries for mercy fall upon deaf ears.

Their feet run quickly to do evil, and they love the wicked things. They have sown to the wind. Let them reap the whirlwind.

Enough is enough. Amen.

Bobo

12 years serving multiple POTUSs means at least 2 very significant background investigations. If any of it were true, it would have popped during the BIs or would have been reported by the same anonymous sources who are throwing fits now.

Any one of the events alone would have earned him walking papers and an invitation to retire. Somehow the USN, the Secret Service, and OPM all seemed to miss it.

Ex-PH2

J’accuse! is always used, whether there is any basis for it or not, because once suspicions are raised, the damage is done.

It is untangling the damage to clear the air, and find sources for these rumors, that takes up time and energy. ADM Jackson didn’t think it was worth it, and frankly, I can’t say as I blame him.

The VA.- When I retired in 2007 and on Cobra, I wasn’t eligible to get medical treatment because Bush stopped the funding in 1993 and since I wasn’t in Viet Nam or combat wounded, I had to go to private insurance for 3 years until I hit 65 and then was eligible for medicare part A,B & D. Obama later on started funding the VA again, but I am very happy where I am now. I heard that when one would apply for VA assistance, they would have to fill out a form listing all their assets and savings.

MSG Eric

Obama began funding the VA more because scandals started popping up in the media every single day. He was beginning to look bad because of it and had to fix that.

Even liberals were talking about the VA needing fixing because veterans were calling bullshit and the populace was concerned during election years about it.

Hmmm, prescient words from 250 years ago…

[D]emocracy will soon degenerate into an anarchy, such an anarchy that every man will do what is right in his own eyes and NO MAN’S LIFE OR PROPERTY OR REPUTATION OR LIBERTY WILL BE SECURE, and every one of these will soon mould itself into a system of subordination of all the moral virtues and intellectual abilities, all the powers of wealth, beauty, wit and science, to the wanton pleasures, the capricious will, and the execrable cruelty of one or a very few.

I knew that if I looked online using the right parameters in my search I would find something that could be cobbled together to accuse someone of doing something he didn’t do.

I did this because there are 500 women in this country who have the same name as mine, many spell it the same way, and some have the same middle initial. One of them, as I found in my search, has a record of several DUI arrests.

I used RON JACKSON and DRUNK ACCIDENT in my search and the following came up:

http://www.jacksonville.com/article/20110809/NEWS/801246508

Ronald Jackson, a Jacksonville, FL, police officer who had been fired because of misconduct and complaints against him, was arrested for DUI and causing two accidents while driving drunk.

You can see how easy it is to twist that real story into accusing someone who has done nothing wrong of being a drunk and crashing a government car.

Since this started with the New York Slimeball newspaper, they should be slapped silly somehow. The reporter lied and the NYT knows it. It is pure BS.

I’m sure that Dr. Jackson is a fine doctor. He could probably spot borderline cardiac disease just by looking at you. But whether or not he’d make a good administrator of a government organization that is the equivalent of a giant amoeba is open to question.

It might make more sense to put a retired line officer in charge of that agency. And start firing people who don’t do their jobs properly.

OldSoldier54

Good job, Ex-PH2.

Just plain Bob

There was an IG report as well. The WH medical office did not come out smelling like a rose. All of the other stuff, handing out pills, wrecking a vehicle, being drunk on duty. I don’t think any of it was bullshit, as a lot of stuff gets covered up in DC for people who are high up and well-liked. IN my years stationed in beltway units I never saw a senior officer really get hammered for a DUI.

All of that aside, the guy had never run anything very big. The VA is the 2nd biggest agency in terms of headcount, after DOD itself. Trump’s nomination was in line with wanting to appoint his personal pilot as head of FAA.

Casey

EEENNNNNHHHH!!!

Sorry, but you’re wrong.

The Secret Service has gone on record that the claimed drunken door-banging never happened. Ditto for car accidents (altho that might have come from the Navy). The man had three little “dingers” (one was a side-view mirror knocked off by another car), none of which were his fault.

Basically the accusations have now been established as untrue.
