Friday morning feel good stories
Tim sends a link from Phoenix, Arizona;
A man was fatally shot by a security guard Wednesday evening at a Jack In The Box in west Phoenix, police said.
The shooting was reported just before 7 p.m. near 35th Avenue and W. Buckeye Road, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Police said the man died at the scene.
From Francis, Oklahoma;
It was just before 3 a.m. when Dennis Reif heard the commotion in his kitchen.
“I got my gun out of the drawer because I heard someone smashing in here and I saw a flashlight beam,” Reif said.
Reif says he came face to face with Chris Born, who he claims fired four shots at him, but missed.
That’s when Reif grabbed his .38 caliber revolver and shot Born twice in the chest.
“I just quickly leveled at him and fired to protect myself and he screamed and yelled he was hit,”Reif said.
“When the shots were fired they dropped everything and left the residence,” Pontotoc County Sheriff John Christian said.
Investigators say Born took off with Dustin Hoots in a pickup, they were caught after a short chase, but Hoots, the second burglary suspect ran off and is still missing.
Two other women, Jeanette Matthews and Tara Whittecar were in a separate pickup, and were also arrested.
The sheriff says he thinks they were acting as the lookout for born.
From Adams County, Mississippi;
Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said an older man…attempted to rob a residence on Proby Road…the resident was shot in the hand, but the resident’s return fire proved fatal.
From Houston, Texas;
The mother and father opened up to Eyewitness News about the violent attack. It happened just before 7 p.m. outside the Taqueria Mexico stand, off Airline Drive near Parker Road on the city’s north side.
The couple had their four young children with them at the time, ages 3 to 8. They asked we not identify them out of safety concern.
“My daughter had told me, ‘Mom, I thought he was going to kill daddy,’ My daughter said that. My 8-year-old,” said the mother. “Oh my gosh. It was horrible. You know he had the gun to my husband’s head. It felt like a nightmare. I’m like I can’t believe this is happening.”
The father said he went and placed an order. As he returned with the tacos, a gunman showed up and pulled at his door. The gunman demanded the family get out of the vehicle. The father said he resisted at first. Mom said she frantically pulled the kids to safety.
While she did that, the father reached for his own gun.
“I always carry a weapon in the cars,” said the father. “As I started walking back, he jumps in the car. So when he jumped in the car, I went around the back of the car. I pulled the gun out. I loaded it. I put my hands inside the car and shot him.”
The father told ABC13 he believes he struck the suspect in the hand. The gunman dropped his weapon and fled with another suspect.
Houston police said they are investigating the case and are now looking for at least three young men in their late teens to early 20s.

A Jack In The Box needs a security guard? Nice part of town.
When I was a kid, the Jack in the box I worked at on S 6th, Tucson had two off duty cops on weekends. And, yes, they were needed.
For decades, in most large towns places that are open all night really need some security. Even Jacques en le Box.
AW1Ed,
I was thinking the same thing! Holy Crap.
Probably one of those “imported” Kalifornicators!
Durnburnit, can’t even go out for tacos any more without gangbangers showing up.
Died at a Jack In The Box?
Now that’s its own special hell right there.
I can just hear all the other souls in Hell:
“What happened to you?”
“I got shot.”
“Where?”
“Jack in the Box”
“BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Come’here bitch, have we got a treat for you. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA……”
Sour cream?
Man Mayo
Airline Drive has a Taqueria on every corner for about six miles. I hope the father does not get in trouble. If I am reading this story correctly, he was out of the car, and the perp was attempting to drive away with his car. Not that the shitbag did not deserve getting shot, but in Harris County, it is a coin toss with the dipshit liberals in charge. Somebody should give him $50 for at least trying.
Hmmm… As I recall, Texas has/had a law that permits someone shooting a dirtbag who is trying to steal his car during the hours of darkness. Harkens back to the days of horse thieving at nighttime. 1900 hours at this time of the year is ‘darkness.’
aaaaahummm, they used to hang horsethieves…why not hang car thieves? seems only right to me?
Sara,
I would be glad to give that father a loaner pistol if the police take his for “evidence”
You are right about shooting a fleeing carjacker
Here in Florida you cannot shoot someone who is driving away in your car
(unless he points a gun at you. Then you are in danger and can blast away)
I hope someone tells that dad that that is exactly what happened, the pendejo pointed his gun at him.
In Texas you can shoot if what is being stolen is not easily replaceable. A vehicle usually qualifies.
Texas is more sensible in its laws than Florida.
Dude is stealing my car, trailer, or other property that I cannot easily replace? Make him DRT, no problemo compañiero.
The SOB threatened/endangered your kids, even in Harris County that’s gonna make it hard to prosecute you.
Texas laws allow for use of deadly force in property crimes, but it will cause a shitstorm. A lot depends on the county’s prosecutors, and the police officers at the scene, statements made, blah blah… Houston cops are generally glad to let the citizenry take care of business, but they still have to deal with their politicians. The 2 things I about this event that seem really bad to me are: 1)some piece of shit scared those kids and 2) that family most probably missed out on getting to eat their delicious tacos.
The decision to share their story may have a ‘pre-emptive strike’ effect on any politician who wants to go after the father.
“Politician X is against fathers protecting their families from criminals!” doesn’t play to well during re-election.
“Two other women” – so Christopher Born and Dustin Hoots identify as female?
“Born to Hoot”? lol
