Rest in Peace.
Rest in Peace, SPC Jones.
Rest In Peace Warrior, you were taken from us far too soon.
YES He was much much too soon, his 21st Birthday too soon……
Wait, we still have people in Kosovo? What is their mission?
I thought that “conflict” ended in 1999 or so?
To me this would be like hearing that a GI got killed on Papua New Guinea.
Sadly there are still many troops in Kosovo. Robert was my nephew and on his first deployment, and a newlywed. We are all suffering from his loss.
Rest in peace SPC Jones.
As for the Kosovo mission, it’s quite small, but the NATO presence seems to deter Kosovo/Albania and Serbia from reengaging in border disputes.
HE should’ve been here in USA keeping peace and confronting the mentally ill here, GOD KNOWS we have a lot. Not in other Countires !!!! We need to stay of of everyones business!!!!
I hope none of American viewers will misunderstand this humble point of view of a Serbian commentator.
Your troops are ensuring that Kosovo remains under the influence of Albanian government, which manipulates its territory for the ulterior purposes of Albanian and EU politicians. Since Serbian army and police, as well as most of Serbian population, have been expelled back in 1999, Kosovo serves not only as a potential territorial addition to Albania, but also as an important transit point for the trafficking of drugs, arms, and migrants.
That said, I express my condolences for young Mr. Jones’s passing. He died believing he fought for “the defense of America’s national interests” while he was actually yet another unfortunate pawn of the vile legacy of the Clinton administration and its allies in the Albanian government.
TERRIBLE!!!!!
Thank you, Mercedes. Hopefully, one day most Americans will share your view. God bless you.
Nikola
Really bitch! You think posting this here in a TIP thread is appropriate? Not a wonder why your people can’t govern themselves. You little RIP at the end is bullshit.
For the record, if you want to bitch about your Counntry and its politica, maybe wait and do it under a story that is covering that subject or wait until the Weekend open thread is up. You don’t post your whinney crap about your Country under a dead soldiers thread.
TIP=RIP
Had you bothered to actually read the other comments above my comment, you would’ve known I posted this to reply to Martinjmpr and Todd as to why U.S. troops are still serving in Kosovo. The story behind it is complex and long, but the people in the U.S. need to be informed by someone about it nevertheless.
Also, I’m sorry that you fail to understand the sincerity of my “RIP” and instead show sheer disdain for me even though I didn’t insult or attack anyone. I have never hated America (not its people, anyway), but you, for whatever reason, seem to genuinely hate my country and people, which I find disturbing and hurtful, but maybe most of all – sad.
RIP, Brother. Thank you for your service.
Condolences and prayers to the family. All of us share the loss of this man.
Just goes to show you that military service is hazardous even in “peace time.” RIP Specialist Jones.
Thank you for your service Spc Jones. I never knew you but you will be missed. I was surprised to learn of your passing in local news (I live in Vail as well). Blessings to your family.
I just received word from a buddy who works security for Torress AES at Camp Bondsteel. He said they are keeping it under wraps but an Albanian who pledged allegiance to the isis became a sniper and shot him from outside the base while he was on a patrol within the compund. You didn’t hear it from me though. This is why it is “under investigation” noone is supposed to know the real reason for his death.
Hi John, I was hoping you could contact me?
I’m the sister of Robert Jones
I’m also an extended family member. Don’t spread rumors online. If it’s under investigation then talking online can compromise that.
Are you the author of this blog? Or is that a different John?
Different spellings.
I realized that after. Sorry.
John .. would you be willing to talk to me about this revelation? I am Spc Robert’s uncle. A lot of misinformation being propogated ..
cardomel@gmail.com
Thx
Please, do not believe this, I am working here now and was on duty when this happened and this is not at all what happened, so whoever from Torres is spreading this is creating lies.
