Tuesday morning feel good stories
From Dallas, Texas;
A man is critically injured after being shot in an apparent attempted home invasion.
About 5 o’clock Monday morning, police were called to a home in Lake Highlands, and found the man suffering from a gunshot wound outside the residence.
Investigators say the homeowner shot the suspect before me made it inside the home.
From Prescott, Arizona;
A man later identified as Michael D. Dragone, 35, was taken into custody without incident. He had attempted to gain entry into one apartment by banging loudly on the front of the residence, the report said. Its occupants warned the intruder they had a gun and, when they heard their front window being broken, feared for their safety and fired a gun at him.
No one, including Dragone, was struck by gunfire during the incident, Kaufman said.
Dragone then moved on to another apartment and proceeded to break down the door, the report said. The resident was traumatized and had a severe, life-threatening medical event. The resident was taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center — East Campus for treatment.
From Baltimore, Maryland;
Phillip Johnson, 44, was fatally shot around 9:50 p.m. inside a carryout store in the 1800 block of Edmondson Avenue, police said.
Police on Monday said they have charged Michael Campbell, 32, of the 1700 block of Eager Street. He was arrested Sunday and is being held at Central Booking on charges of first-degree murder, assault and other handgun violations, police said.
Police allege that Campbell entered the store and shot the victim before running away. While running, Campbell was shot by another man — police did not offer details.
From Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;
OKCPD says that a man was in the parking lot of an apartment complex when he was approached by two men, one armed with a gun. The men allegedly demanded his car keys and wallet.
According to police, the man attempted to run from the suspects but they caught up to him and started to pistol whip him. During the fight, police say the victim gained control of the firearm and shot one of the suspects, killing him.
That suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The second suspect is still on the run.
From Tuscaloosa, Alabama;
Investigators say the 34-year-old victim and his brother were in the front yard when several black men with their faces covered came up to them.
The victim told police he ran toward his apartment and then heard gunshots. The victim got a gun from his apartment and
began shooting at the suspects.During the exchange of gunfire, the victim’s vehicle and another vehicle parked next to it were shot.
A short time later the suspect, Tyshaun Johnson, was taken to DCH by a private vehicle with a life threatening gunshot wound.

Tyshaun……
Where ya at Claw?
Tyshaun Johnson (WRT) 30×2= 60
Oops, Sorry. Applied the wrong label. It should be WOT (Wounded Over There) instead of WRT (Wounded Right There).
If a Dindonuffin is taken into custody at the scene with wounds, they are declared WRT.
But if they show up later at a hospital, (in this case having been transported by POV) they are declared WOT.
Mea Culpa. I blame it on not having enough coffee yet in my system and still having both my eyes still recovering from cataract surgery two weeks/a week ago.
Claw…can you see better now with the surgery? Glad to hear you are doing well.
Yes, I am now seeing better than I have in 30 years.
When I think back on all those hours I spent looking up FSNs/NSNs on a Army Microfiche reader, it’s no wonder that my eyes glazed over.
Two more weeks of drops and I’ll be good to go.
Thanks for asking.
Glad to hear that Claw. I had one removed this Spring and got my Eagle Vision back!
My sister had it done. She said it was the first time in 30 years she could see clearly.
Glad you’re better now, Claw, and still dropkicking the perps!
Stay warm, dry and safe!
Sympathies to Phillip Johnson’s family.
That’s going to be a fun auto insurance claim,”Hello, I’m filing a claim, I shot my own car and someone else’s car…..”
It would make for a good Farmer’s Insurance commercial, though…
Aside from the fun of Name Scrabble and who shot what, the Desperate Need for an Editor has raised its head with this gem:
“He had attempted to gain entry into one apartment by banging loudly on the front of the residence, the report said. Its occupants warned the intruder they had a gun…”
I did not know that anyone could occupy a report of any kind. It will send the price of housing tumbling, won’t it? And while the location is important, “banging on the front of the residence” means that the intruder(s) were pounding on a wall, not a door.
I will hammer this into shape: According to the report, he had attempted to gain entry into one apartment by banging loudly on the front [door? window?] of the residence. Its occupants warned the intruder….
Clarity in writing has gone right down the cotton-pickin’ tubes. No wonder we have to spend hours trying to dig out what really took place.
Do a stint at a college writing center or teaching college English.
It will drive you to insanity.
Do a stint as an FTO, reading college educated trainees reports… It’s not a drive to insanity… it is a chip shot.
Oh, and Happy Hallowe’en, everybody! And a huuuuuge thanks to all the Bad People who took the fun of trick or treating at night away from the kids. We owe you jackwagons Big Time, and some day, you’ll get it.
You are right ex-PH2! Those sick bastards need to be ferreted out and disposed of!
