Derek Alldred charged
KARE11 reports that Derek Alldred, the phony SEAL who has been ripping off women across the country has been charged in Texas.
An alleged con man who poses as a war hero and is accused of ripping off women all across the country has been indicted on federal criminal charges.
Derek Alldred could be facing years in federal prison thanks in part to the efforts of Minnesota women who say they were among his victims. Both Joann and Linda tell KARE 11 Investigates they feel vindicated by the federal charges. They ask that their last names not be used to protect their privacy.
“Validated, vindicated,” said Linda of Woodbury. “It makes you feel like it’s not all in your head.” “Not crazy,” added Joann.
KARE 11 first exposed Alldred a year ago, tracking down victims across the country.
Joann and Linda are two of nearly 20 women who say they were scammed by Alldred after meeting him on online dating sites.
The article continues that Alldred was indicted on 10 federal charges including identity theft, mail fraud, and felon in possession of a firearm.

There is a retired Army Captain named Terry Micheal Hestilow who had scammer (s) copy all his pictures from Facebook and create scores of profiles on social media and dating sites. At last count he found over 150 fake face book profiles using his photos and last name Hestilow.
In many cases like these I would recommend replacing the term ‘desperate women’ with ‘vulnerable women’.
A few years ago while I was back home for a visit, I ran into a woman who I had gone to school with and knew very well when we were teenagers.
Her kids were grown and gone, and after the kids had left home, her husband left her for a younger woman. She found herself completely alone and with very low self-esteem, which combined to make her extremely vulnerable to exploitation. After a time, she had gotten herself involved with a smooth-talking, shithead scam artist who came very close to cleaning her out financially before she finally caught on and put her foot in his ass and jettisoned him.
I asked her why she had let it go on for so long, and she told me quite frankly that when she was that lonely and felt that low about herself, it was relatively easy to overlook that shithead’s bullshit as long as he kept up the façade of pretending that he cared about her.
She thankfully has pulled everything back together now, and is doing OK. And I’ll reiterate that in those specific circumstances she was ‘vulnerable’, not ‘desperate’.
Just another perspective to consider…
Both men and women have times when they are emotionally vulnerable.
A couple of friends of mine suddenly lost their wives of 40+ years. Within a year, each of them had some scam-artist woman latch on to them. Fortunately for one, he got free before too much went wrong. For the other, he is still being manipulated by this harpy, and is close to losing all his money.
My opinion of these low-life scumbags does not change according to what is between their legs. They all need beat with a horsewhip until semi-conscious.

I see them as emotional, psychological and financial predators, little more than vermin constantly on the prowl for an easy free ride from their next intended victim. My ex-monster is a fine example, she/it is what I refer to as a “Professional Spouse”, who took me for a ride after my first tour in the litterbox when I wasn’t looking. Happy ending to that fiasco, she couldn’t shake me down for alimony and she even had the nerve to ask my Dad for legal help to avoid getting her house foreclosed, Dad just calmly said “Sorry, there’s nothing I can do to help” and hung up on her.
Hope he gets some wall-to-wall personal counseling while in the cage.

According to the linked news story, Alldred was apprehended by local police in a small TX town earlier this year when he tried to scam women there; he apparently has been in lock-up ever since
