Darren Bavaro; phony hero

| August 24, 2017

The folks at Military Phonies send us their work on this Darren Bavaro fellow, who claims that he was wounded twice in combat and that he ejected from his “bird over Baghdad” during his grueling one year, ten month service;

Your pizza is ready, sir;

Yeah, none of that his true. He handed out a fake DD214 to folks;

But the Navy doesn’t remember his doing any of that stuff;

Less than two years, no deployments. But, yeah, he’s special – his excuse is that his ex-wife was passing out the forged DD214 to set him up.

E-2 getting a LOM?

Uh, no. Not just no, but fuck no!

Has anyone contacted this tool’s AL Post yet?

MSGT_RET

Hell, even a fake E-6 in the USN wouldn’t be getting the Legion of Merit.

I’m especially impressed with his ability to be awarded both the Iraq Campaign Medal and the GWOT Service Medal in 1996. He must have visited the future in his time machine.

He does claim to have the coveted “Navy Pistal Marksmansip Ribbon” though, whatever that is.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

Doesn’t he own a Doctor Who Police call booth time machine that will take him 2 hours into the future in 120 minutes???????????????

MSG Eric

Another reason to be pissed off at him. He visited the future from 1996 and never told us about 9/11!

MSGT_RET

Agreed. This guy is a total ass!

desert

Why is this whimpy, chicken shyt, piece of crap on the same page as Andregg?

Combat Historian

It’s about time the Feds actually start prosecuting these scumbags who pass out phony 214s for document forgery and fraud; in fact, it’s way past time…

Graybeard

Darren Bavaro is in Deep Bullshiito.

Daring Bravado? Daring Bull$hit?

Dumb Butt.

All sorts of monikers for this faker.

Roh-Dog

Flag, dude can’t tell the difference between GWOTEM and GWOT-S.
I don’t remember anyone in an A6 punching out over Baghdad.
Shoulda gone full high speed, high impact and claimed POW with Jessica Lynch

Combat Historian

“…I don’t remember anyone in an A6 punching out over Baghdad…”

Neither do I. I think this POS has a hard-on for Scott O’Grady…

Roh-Dog

Dude, damn A6 was last flown by the Navy and retired 28 February 1997 (Wikipedia).
Maybe his A6 went so fast it went into the future, was shot down, and the crash was so bad they went back in time.
Fool. Darren Bavaro, you are a FOOL.

NECCSEABEECPO

Yep, the last Major operation they were used in number was Desert Strom. We landed in Bahrain before we pushed out to Saudi and started the build up. They had a big Fleet of A6E’s and F’s that they would use to Jam, so the A10’s and Apaches could go in.

Silentium Est Aureum

EA-6’s (Prowlers) were used by Navy until 2015. Marines are still using them until 2019.

And in any event, IIRC, the Electronics guys were all NFO’s, and certainly not a fucking AE.

Roh-Dog

Thank you for the schoolin’. This grunt no speaky Navy.
Still, aircraft losses are easily searchable and should throw a flag.

Mick

He’s claiming that he was a ‘Flight Engineer’ that flew in both A-6s and EA-6s, eh?

Yeah sure; totally legit.

Only Naval Aviators and Naval Flight Officers crewed those aircraft. No Flight Engineers.

He’s an assclown.

Graybeard

Not defending the idjit, but in Korea my AF uncle, who either worked on the radios or was a mechanic on the planes, did get to go up with the pilot a few times. I’d have to go back and watch the video I made of his stories to know more of the details.

He said that seeing that flak was a disturbing experience.

I had always thought he had stayed on the ground, but evidently not.

Could it be that a En of some sort could be invited along for the ride? Not saying this gives credence to the lies of this idjit, though.

Sandman

I was an Aircraft Armament guy on Cobras, and would go up in the gunner’s seat for an in flight weapons check, but that was during peace time. This cat is claiming he ejected during a combat mission which is the biggest red flag out there!

Graybeard

Oh, I agree.
And technically does the shooting phase of the Korean incident count as “war”? I believe (if my very fallible memory serves me) my uncle was in on a combat mission over the Norks.

I don’t believe this dude was anywhere near combat other than arguing with his wife – and losing – over who got to wear the pants that day.

MSG Eric

Technically, the Korean War is still ongoing. We are only in an Armistice right now.

Since the Armistice was signed (in July 1953), there have been several shooting matches.

Silentium Est Aureum

3 A-6’s were lost in DS/DS.

None over Baghdad.

No combat losses after that until the plane left service.

Shocked face. This.

Green Thumb

Maybe they threw him off the bird?

I probably would.

MSG Eric

Maybe they strapped him to the bomb hardpoint and dropped him?

MSGT_RET

That was definitely an amateur mistake.

Green Thumb

Yeah.

This turd is part of the “don’t let this happen you you” crowd.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Another SV assclown… and loves to wear a banana hammock (must make it easier for him to fluff ghey pr0n stars on the set).

Ex-PH2

I don’t see a photo of him in a Speedo, so are you referring to the yellow aiguillette? Or is it something no one wants to see on his ‘look at me’ FB page?

Carlton G. Long

So that neckpiece is called an “aiguillette”?

I was thinking it was an ascot, similar to what Fred wore on Scooby Doo (and his equivalent character, Alan, wore on Josie & The Pussycats).

I have been edified.

Graybeard

“Ascot” was the word I learned for it.

We wore something similar in the ROTC Drill Team. I think I still have that old thing somewhere.

John Robert Mallernee

@ CARLTON G. LONG:

An aiguillette is the braided cord worn on his left arm.

In the American Legion, the uniform he’s wearing, it has no meaning, but is merely decoration.

In the United States Army, a light blue “Branch Cord” is worn on the right arm to indicate an Infantry soldier.

Other branches also have shoulder cords in their various branch colors, but only Infantry is authorized.

Some gold aiguilettes are worn by officers when serving as Aides-de-Camp to Generals or the President.

During the Second World War, France and Belgium awarded a Fourregere to some United States Army units, notably the 101st Airborne Division and the 82d Airborne Division.

They are worn by soldiers CURRENTLY assigned to those units.

Carlton G. Long

I have now been further edified.

19D2OR4 - Smitty

Point of order, the Fourragerres of France were awarded in both world wars. They are unit awards the color of which denotes the war and number of awards. They are still worm today by the units that were awarded them.

The Belgian Fourragerre however, is only allowed to be worn by the men who were in the unit at the time of its action for which it was awarded. No one currently serving is authorized to wear the Belgian.

John Robert Mallernee

When I was in the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile), we were issued the Fourragere to wear on our AG-344 dress green uniform when we returned from the Republic of Viet Nam.

I even have a photograph of me wearing it.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/writesong/687084320/in/album-72157600591051944/

John Robert Mallernee

@ 19D2OR4 – Smitty:

OOPS ! ! !

I just reread your post.

Therefore, that must be the French Fourragere that I wore, which is authorized for guys currently serving in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and the 82d Airborne Division.

Does the XVIII Airborne Corps still exist, or were they deactivated?

I remember that there used to be a huge sign outside the Main Gate at Fort Bragg, when I was a boy growing up in Spring Lake.

19D2OR4 - Smitty

XVIII Corps still exists. Your pic is hard to tell the color, but it does look like one of the French ones. The RVN also awarded one out, but it has since been rescinded.

I’ve been the unofficial historian for both of my last two units. So I have had to do a ton of research into the various awards.

John Robert Mallernee

In the United States Army, that is called a “Branch Scarf”, and the various colors indicate which branch.

Yellow is for Armor or Cavalry (Cavalry also wears Red/White), Red is for Artillery, Light Blue is for Infantry, Orange is for Signal Corps, Maroon is for Medical Corps, Green is for Military Police, Black is for Chaplain’s Corps or Judge Advocate General’s Corps (also Finance?).

On the American Legion uniform, which is what he’s wearing, it means nothing, as it’s just a colorful piece of cloth.

Note that he’s wearing a beret incorrectly (possibly clowning for the camera?).

John Robert Mallernee

Do you folks remember the “M*A*S*H” television series, where Corporal Walter “Radar” O’Reilly would proudly wear his white “Paratrooper Scarf” whenever he wanted to impress girls in Seoul (i.e., he wasn’t a paratrooper)?

As far as I know, there’s no such thing as a “Paratrooper Scarf”.

Paratroopers would probably wear the color of the branch to which they’re assigned, i.e., Infantry, Armor, Artillery, Signal, et cetera.

just some feller

Made from a cammo parachute:

I recall playing with my dad’s back in the 1960s.

John Robert Mallernee

Do you remember the movie, “APOCALYPSE NOW”?

As a gung ho Cavalry officer, Robert Duvall’s character proudly wore the yellow branch scarf, along with his Cavalry stetson.

Instinct

Now I know where Star Trek got the shirt colors from!

Learn something new every day 😀

Silentium Est Aureum

Looking at his Page 5, looks like he managed to last a whole 3 months at his squadron before stomping all over his dick and getting sent to TPU to mow grass until he got booted out.

Hondo

The ACC code reference I found says he was awaiting MEDBOARD and then LIMDU expected to exceed 6 mo. I’m guessing he was medically discharged.

http://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/reference/milpersman/1000/1300Assignment/Documents/1320-300.pdf

No shame in being medically discharged, unless you faked it. My guess is he’s just channeling his inner “I coulda been a contender” dreams at this point.

Silentium Est Aureum

True, but playing this game now? And poorly, at that.

Hondo

Agreed. He now feels he “coulda been someone – (he) coulda been a contender!” And because he was medically discharged, he wasn’t.

So now he’s trying to fake a heroic past to compensate. And as you noted: due to ignorance he’s doing a really p!ss-poor job of faking it.

NavyEODguy

Maybe we can encourage Jonn, with a little help from TAH friends put together a digital brochure – Posers Anonymous or some shit.

It would have all the highly recommended “do’s and don’ts” for all the HSLD poser wannabes out there.

“Get your free copy of Posers anonymous – simply send an email to xxxxx.cox and we’ll get it right out to you.”

Easier tracking system ima thinkin’.

The Al

Someone over at Military Phonies pointed out he left his real separation code on his phony 214- and what said code meant: MILPERSMAN 1910-122(SEPARATION BY REASON OF CONVENIENCE OF THE
GOVERNMENT – PERSONALITY DISORDER(S))

OAE CPO USN Ret

It’s probably more likely that he fell off of an A-6 doing maintenance.

Ejection my dying ass.

HMCS(FMF) ret

I’m thinking that the gerbil felcher got a “injection”… of the “warm beef” type.

MSG Eric

He was such a dumbass, they strapped him to a hardpoint and dropped him with the rest of their dumb bombs.

PFM

How much do you wanna bet he’s using that fake GWOTEM and PH for a tax break?

Hondo

Hmm. Wonder if his local DMV would be interested in knowing he doesn’t have a PH? Many states take tax fraud concerning vehicle tag taxes pretty seriously.

Silentium Est Aureum

Just ask Shane Ladner.

Any idea when he’ll be sentenced?

PFM

You know how it is with government and taxes – I could shoot you dead and get a lesser charge 🙂 .

SFC D

Hold on, there’s a tax break for having a GWOTEM? I didn’t get the memo!

PFM

Depends on the state and town – I can get up to 20% off my property taxes – pretty good for NY state.

A Proud Infidel®™

Waitaminnnit, I have a LEGIT GWOTEM, I gotta start looking…

MSG Eric

Certain states also give other bennies for a Bronze Star, whether valorous or meritorious.

Bobo

When this was posted on Facebook initially everyone know that it was BS based on the Legion of Merit with no other decorations for service beyond a NAM. You’d think that someone with 2 PHs would at least rate a BSM or a commendation medal. That fake DD-214 is pretty obvious, too.

I guess that he wasn’t in the Navy long enough to figure out what a DD-214 with awards looks like, or how the unofficial awards process works.

Doc Savage

He isn’t going to enjoy his next American Legion meeting…..

Young Bud Fox

Does the America Legion conduct a freedom of information request as a background check on members that represent their organization in public events and other activities? Looks like this clown was a member of the post color guard. Seems to me that a lot of these outed stolen valor guys are so obvious that Ray Charles could spot them a mile away.

The American Legion does a lot of good things at the national and local community level. I am sure they wouldn’t want to have a wanna-be-hero representing them in their activities.

Silentium Est Aureum

You would think it’s pretty obvious when he’s claiming a LOM and punching out of A-6’s when he has no air warfare, Pilot, NFO, or Aircrew badge.

Whoops. Guess he overlooked that little tidbit.

Hondo

YBF: short answer is almost certainly not – very few veterans’ organizations do a records check on anyone. They generally take people at their word and accept whatever docs are provided as legit.

You’d be shocked at the number of fakes TAH has found in various veterans’ organizations (AL, AMVETS, VFW, MCL). Quite a number seem to have been in public or leadership positions for their local posts/chapters.

Skyjumper

There was a poser eventually caught not far from my location here in the Cheesehead state.

Claimed he was a Navy SEAL and went on missions to rescue POW’s in Viet Of The Nam. He was just busted the early part of this year. He did serve in the Navy, but never as a SEAL.

He was a AmVets Post Commander AND made it all the way to Wisconsin AmVets State Provost Marshal before he was busted.

It was only when someone sent his fake info to Don Shipley that he was busted.

He was stripped of his Post Commander & state Provost Marshal offices, but he still is a member in the AMVETS, something about not being able to toss out a life member.

Yeah, some of these organizations do a piss poor job of vetting future members.

Skyjumper

Yup, I knew it. Dudes got a service dog.

I have a hard time with wanting to live up to be the the man my dog thinks I am. I feel bad for that good dog.

11B-mailclerk

So the only “bird” in which he flew was the shitbird.

He did not “punch out of it”, he was “squeezed out by it”.

HT3 '83-'87

Hilarious!!!

HMCS(FMF) ret

The only thing he knows about punching out involves crusty hobo fartboxes…

He received the ICM 6 months before it was created. Now that’s high speed.

That is all.

Carry on.

Shoot him in the nuts with a pepper ball. I’ve seen it happen, it works great.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

Maybe he was flying high on Mary Jane(no, I don’t mean the 2 legged female M.J)

HMC Ret

Great job of vetting by whatever organization that claims him. This is why I wouldn’t belong to any organization that would have me as a member.

This guy? A waste of space. Give it up, dude. You couldn’t hack it on AD and you’re not doing much better now that you’re a civilian.

My, My, My

I wonder if this dude ever lived in Florida in say 2008/2009? I also wonder if he was born in June ’75. There is dude with the same name with a record in Dade and Broward Counties, and it is not good. I dont know if it is him, but the mugshots……Regardless, this is all only my opinion and open thoughts.

Whoever it is in Florida, I sure hope they dont own any weapons. Just a thought.

My, My, My

Lastly, if someone was born in 1975, wouldnt that make them 16 or 15 during during Desert Storm/Shield. Regardless, only opinions come out of my brain and keyboard.

That is him

Fuck You Darren Bavaro

Jesus…i’ve never seen anyone on the flat black side rock a LOM other than a Sgt Maj at his retirement.

Asshole

Young Bud Fox

His ex-wife made up the phony DD 214? She must have also put together the ribbon rack on his American Legion uniform. Seems to me that if she really wanted to screw with him, she could have passed around his actual DD 214.

Roh-Dog

True dat.

Dave Hardin

HAHAHAHAHAHA…I always love that the wife usually plays along with their bullshit until the EX thing becomes a prefix.

Anthony Ricci, ex YN2(AW), USN

I know this guy and his ex. Believe me, his ex had better things to do than pass around a phony DD214. She’s too busy trying to raise his kid by herself. This guy is not only a military phony but bipolar and an addict. I am sorry for anyone who has ever made contact with this guy.

RGR 4-78

His favorite quote from his Facebook page;

“There is no Fate that plans men’s lives. Whatever comes to us, good or bad, is usually the result of our own action or lack of action.”

Your actions now garner bad reactions.

Here is a phony David Yankovich running for congress in Wisconsin. Claims he did 4 years but did 7 months in boot camp. Please spread the word. I am this mans former girlfriend he does not pay child support, is an adulterer had an affair with a married woman, and claims Obama sent a black SUV due his indepth knowledge of North Korea. Also claims he was injured in Iraq. Please look at the link below and spread the word. All evidence is there. I was told to post it here for help. This man is a deadbeat dad and a phony. He lead me on with lies about being in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Kristen Powell

Please help! He keeps lying he also claims a college degree he barley got out of high school. Also claims Purple Heart and he was an intelligence analyst for the navy. He left his kids in Florida and never pays child support but wants to be a congressman.

Kristen Powell

I have contact numerous of his “friends” he was in the navy with all tell me he was in the navy for a few months and got kicked out for underage drinking. All state he was never in a combat zone.

A Real FE

Finally a fake Flight Engineer. It’s a small community in the Air Force and even smaller in the Navy. Go fuck yourself.

Guard Bum

I don’t know which one of you guys are on FB as Mirimoto Epstein but I never tire of your posts on these faker douchebags!

It has to be a double life altering shame to be known as a Navy washout and a poseur like that. Knowing you could not hack it and had to fake it to be accepted. The internal burn must be painful.

NotaLeg

And he has a service dog……

A REAL FE

I also enjoy how it only took him 8 weeks to become a Flight Engineer when it usually takes around 1-1.5 years. Being Aircrew, he would also have SERE & usually water survival on his 214. Once again, go fuck yourself.

Green Thumb

This is the kind of weirdo who hangs out around the men’s room.

Just look at the “meat” gaze.

A Proud Infidel®™

NOT JUST a meat gazer, to me he looks like a toe-tapper as well!

A Proud Infidel®™

I see he wears a beret like a pissed off French Pastry Cook as well.

Ex-PH2

No, he wears it like a drunk college twit doing a junior year abroad in Paris.
