From Zachary, Louisiana;

One person was shot and killed in a home invasion late Tuesday night in Zachary.

According to the Zachary Police Department, the shooting occurred in the 4000 block of McHugh Road when a robbery suspect attempted to break into an apartment.

The suspect was shot and killed by a homeowner.

From Jackson, Mississippi;

When officers arrived, they found an unidentified 18-year-old with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to UMMC for medical treatment and has been listed in critical condition.

Police also found a deceased black male inside the home. He also had multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

A 7-year-old was found inside the home unharmed.

After investigating, police believe this was a home invasion. Police believe the deceased male was the suspect of this burglary. Evidence shows that he was armed when he entered the home.

From Cedar Rapids, Iowa;

26-year-old Ethan Deyo was living in the home when the crime happened, police say he called them saying he shot a burglar inside his house.

Police say 43-year-old Sherman Hopkins is charged with Kidnapping in the First Degree, Robbery in the First Degree and Burglary in the First Degree.
According to the criminal complaint Deyo went into a bedroom to try and get away from Hopkins after he came into his house but he forced his way into the bedroom.

The complaint goes on to say Hopkins ordered Deyo to log in to his computer and transfer a domain name to a third party, that’s when Deyo grabbed the gun and a struggle began between the two.

During the altercation the gun went off shooting Deyo in the foot, according to the complaint, that’s when Deyo grabbed the gun and shot Hopkins twice before calling police.

Hopkins went straight from the hospital to jail.

If the homeowner can’t shoot the thugs with his own weapon, he just might take one from the punks and shoot them with their own gun. Once in the jailhouse, it will be pretty hard to maintain ones badass creds, while explaining that he gave up his gun and got shot with it.

It certainly seems like a lot of these shootings involve folks involved in various nefarious activities.

I would say that one’s chances of getting into a gun battle decrease dramatically when one abstains from such activities and avoids localities where such activities occur.
