Saturday morning feel good stories
From Theodore, Alabama, four thugs meet an armed Marine;
MCSO Captain Paul Burch says 4 suspects broke in through the back door with a shotgun.
“[The homeowner, a 62-year-old Marine Corps veteran] heard a crashing sound and knew there were people there. They fired the first round through the door,” said Burch.
We’re told the homeowner was shot at several times, but only sustained one minor injury to his arm. The homeowner then fired back at the suspects with his own handgun.
One of the wounded suspects remained at the home until authorities arrived. Two were driven to a Dollar General on DIP about 2-miles away from the home. Those two suspects – a man and a woman – were seen lying on the ground outside the car.
“We don’t know the reason as to why they decided to stop at that location — if it was because they realized how serious their injuries may be or what,” said Burch. “They obviously lied about how they were shot.”
Burch says the homeowner was robbed a few weeks ago, believed to be by at least one of the same suspects in this incident. Authorities say in the last robbery, the homeowner was targeted for his medication.
“A clear-cut case of self-defense as it stands right now,” said Burch.
Chasatie Dulabhan, Casey Ray Gann and Joseph Heathcock are currently in the hospital being treated for their new orifices.
According to authorities, the [75-year-old] man was walking in the 4000 block of Kossuth around 4:30 p.m. when he was approached by a man who ordered the victim to stop.
The victim continued to walk away, and was shot in the leg. Police said the victim then pulled out his own gun and returned fire at the suspect.
The suspect ran away from the scene.
Police said the victim was transported to an area hospital where he is in serious but stable condition.
Chief Tango sends us a link from London, Kentucky;
According to the sheriff, Otis Kemp tried to sneak into a home on Hopewell Estates Road. The homeowner was not home at the time, but returned home shortly after, discovering the prowler. The homeowner grabbed his shotgun and fired into Kemp’s torso.
Investigators say Kemp ran into the woods but was found near the home by a k-9.
Kemp has been charged with burglary. He was airlifted to UK Hospital to with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Burch”
There’s that name again. Hope he is not related.
How the hell does someone get shot in the torso with a shotgun at (presumably) close range an NOT have life-threatening injuries?
Bird shot?
I don’t know but you can bet the ranch that if he breaks into my house he can have anything he wants. Hell I will help him carry it out. Gunny Highway wouldnt screw with this guy.
Grazing shots in muscle that fail to penetrate internals of the chest.
“owowowowowowowowowow! That hurts!”
Or, using birdshot on non-birds. The pellets won’t reliably bust though ribs, especially a Skeet shooter’s #9 shot. Even a Trap shooter’s #7-1/2 is kinda iffy. With perfect shot placement centered on the sternum, you might accomplish nothing but a horrific surface wound, with zero penetrations into the vitals.
“owowowowowowowowowow! That hurts!”
If the shell doesn’t say “buck” you are relying on luck. Wanna put down a thug? You can rely on a slug.
Bird shot’s fine with me, as is rock salt. Those are warning shots, of course.
Excuse me — Chasatie? Dulabahn? How cray-cray is her mother?
Ex-PH2, please take this as a respectful suggestion.
If you ever have to point a firearm at a human being, and fire it because your life is in imminent danger, don’t fuck around. Shoot the bastard center mass, with as much gun as you can handle. Repeat until the threat ceases.
Don’t screw around with warning shots and harassment loads. While you are pissing him off, he will -kill- you.
Think of it the other way around. If some assbag shoots you in the legs with birdshot or rock salt, are you going to meekly apologize for pissing him off, or end his existence with both barrels and a reload?
Actually bird shot at short range can do a lot of damage, say 5-10 feet. I use it regularly out here to put down injured deer in residential areas. It will penetrate the skull like a slug then break up like a frangible round and scramble the insides. It works well when it is too dangerous to use a pistol or rifle because of overpenetration concerns. Now if the bloody deer would stop playing chicken with cars. As for what happened in this case? Sheer blind luck maybe.

I use birdshot in my 12g home defense shotgun. At the short range your going to encounter within a home it will work just fine and unlike buckshot most likely will not penetrate outside walls making it a danger to others.
Believe me, if you have to shoot at an intruder he is not going to stop and examine the type of shot your using. He is also not going to say “birdshot? phhtttt”
depends on the range….at small room range birdshot is pretty nasty. Longer range (which you probably won’t see unless you live in a mansion) is where buck comes into play. Try #4 buck… better power and load density than 00. At say 3-4 yards, I wouldn’t bet the farm on that ‘nasty surface would’ – more likely a smoking mess of someone’s immediate organs.
not using the preferred OO buck!!
If the two suspects found at the Dollar General were to have expired there, it sure would be convenient for their homies to purchase the Mylar balloons, teddy bears and candles for their memorials.
“Cleanup in the parking lot!”
4 thugs wounded in 2 failed attempts to take from others, and a victim wounded in a 3rd incident. None of them were fruitful for the bad guys. What a pitifully dumb bunch of dopes.
I’m not trying to victim-blame here but if three thug p.o.s. threatened to come back to my house I’d set up a bunker with sandbags and overhead cover, string some claymores and go ‘before dawn on a new moon’ black on ammo.
They’d have to use a sponge, DNA, and a manic 8 ball to figure out what’d happened.
You’ve been warned thugs, we tired…
*magic, but the typo works too!
Manic 8 ball says:
“YES! YES YOU FOOL!”
“Its ALLL a conspiracy!!!”
“Shut up and give me CHOCOLATE!!! NOW!!!”
Manic 8 Ball??? Where do we find such toys??
I want one!!!! And I want it NOW!!!
I’m gonna make a suggestion here, the first this ain’t hell branded toy. You can keep my portion of the royalties and donate them to a VSO charity.
(Work gets in the way of responding everydamntime)
Can’t get one unless you are a deranged felon. Your not a deranged felon, are you??
Handgun calibers are terrible at killing. Time to upgrade to rifles for home defense people.
For home defense I personally believe the 12 gauge, with appropriate ammo, is most effective. You don’t have to worry greatly about penetrating the bad guy, then penetrating the neighbors house. Of course, if you live far from others, this is not an issue.
When I plan a home invasion I always fire one shot through the door to let everyone inside know I’m coming in.
