Thursday morning feel good stories
From Jeanerette, Louisiana;
According to Sheriff Louis Ackal, the homeowner, a 60-year-old black woman, was sleeping on her couch with her pistol next to her when the two suspects broke into the rear of her home.
“The two males approached her and she shot the first guy three times,” Ackal said. “One suspect fired back but didn’t hit her. She again shot and hit both of the burglars, who escaped into the night.”
When police arrived, one suspect was found lying on the ground nearby after being shot five times. IPSO K-9 officers are hoping to follow the blood trail of the second suspect, Ackal said.
From Escambia County, Alabama;
The homeowner told deputies with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) in Alabama the incident happened Monday around 2:30 p.m. at his home in the 3200 block of Foshee Road.
The men were about to get away in a blue SUV when the homeowner got his single barrel shotgun and fired one shot in their direction.
The driver was hit in the shoulder and along his cheek. He was later hospitalized.
ECSO and the Brewton Police Department responded to the scene and later got in touch with the victim and the person at the hospital that was shot.
As a result of the investigation, 24-year-old Atmore man, Mikeal Starks, is charged with first degree robbery and first degree burglary.
From Indianapolis, Indiana;

Your home is your place of security. When thugs invade it, just shoot them. Shoot them center mass, shoot them often, shoot until your weapon is empty.
I dunno, Frankie. What if there is another one lurking outside who comes in after you use up unnecessary ammo on the one inside? Seems like it would be more prudent to save something for an unseen additional threat once the seen threat has been neutralized.
Guess I just have trouble understanding the need to continuing firing at someone who is no longer a threat.
That’s exactly what happened in the first story.. she hit the first thug with three rounds initially, and still had some for the second thug when he entered.. good shooting grandma!
Police officers here are trained to never fire a warning shot, and that if it’s necessary to shoot a suspect, always aim for the center of mass, and continue shooting until the suspect is down and no longer moving.
In the concealed weapons course for private citizens, we are taught to never fire a warning shot, and that when firing at a suspect, always aim for the center of mass, and fire two shots, followed if necessary, by two more shots, continuing until the threat has been neutralized.
Warning shots are only fired by a moron or a certain ex-vice president, but then I repeat myself.
The application of deadly force must be reasonable. Therefore, one should apply force until the threat has been abated. Any further unreasonable force is a waste of ammo, may be unlawful and could be looked upon as detrimental in any possible criminal or civil proceedings.
Not having any experience first-hand, nonetheless I offer my opinion for the instance of a home-invasion scenario:
The first 2-3 center-mass, and if the perp is still up and coming, aim for the bridge of the nose, center of the head/face mass. Disrupting the CNS is usually adequate for overcoming a drug-fueled resistance to being shot.
That way if the perp has accomplices who are not running away at the sound of gunfire, I have a chance to not be run dry when I encounter them.
I am confident in my weapon system. While I don’t get to practice as often as I would like, I know that within the distance limitations of an invasion of my home I can put them within 3″ regularly. I would anticipate this would translate to 6″ with an adrenaline rush. But if the perp is still coming towards me and mine, that head-shot will be a lot more likely to be successful.
Of course, when the fertilizer hits the ventilator, plans change. What would really happen? I hope I never find out.
NO..save a couple of rounds in case there is another suspect!! or another magazine handy!!
Something about a mama bear and her cubs…

Another misspelled Michael. The Archangel is not pleased.
I frequently see the same mistake when folks spell, “Israel”, i.e., they spell it, “Isreal”.
In both, “Michael” and “Israel”, the “EL” portion refers to God.
Or, more precisely, “El” is the singular Hebrew/Aramaic word for the English word “God”.
