Wednesday morning feel good stories
From Alameda County, California;
The bizarre incident was reported around 9:10 p.m. at the remote ranch in the 18000 block of Mines Road, in unincorporated Alameda County far outside Livermore city limits. [Sheriff’s Sgt. Ray ] Kelly said the rancher called 911 and said he had shot someone.
Kelly said the rancher and [Scott] Hagan had recently met and authorities believe Hagan was possibly going to burglarize the property.
He is accused of driving onto the property and using the truck to smash into a barn, the rancher’s home, a truck and the propane tank.
The resident armed himself with a pistol and told Hagan to stop the truck and get out, Kelly said.
Instead, Hagan began driving toward the rancher, who fired several shots at him.
After being shot, Hagan was able to drive off the property. He was found in his truck stopped on the road. He was airlifted to a San Jose hospital, where he was being uncooperative with investigators, Kelly said.
Richard sends us a link from Everett, Washington;
Police say around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, a couple got into their car and started searching for their stolen SUV. They drove around searching the streets of Everett, then spotted their stolen vehicle in front of the McDonald’s on Evergreen Way.
“They kind of blocked it in. The male driver got out with a gun, ran up to the car, and demanded the occupants stay and wait until police arrived,” said Everett Police Department spokesman Aaron Snell.
Police said the woman with the SUV owner called 911. The passengers stayed put, but the driver didn’t.
The suspected car thief ran across the street to Cascade High School, where a softball game was under way and tried mingling with the crowd. But, officers still caught him.
From Indianapolis, Indiana;
“The homeowner, his wife and his 3-year-old child were asleep when this intruder came into the residence at which point our homeowner retrieved his firearm and fired multiple shots, striking the intruder,” said Major Richard Riddle with IMPD.
According to Riddle, the homeowner reported hearing a crash as someone entered the home. He came out of his bedroom and saw [18-year-old Derrick Johnson Jr.] in the living room.
“As far as I can tell [the intruder] did not have a weapon on him,” Riddle said. “But I want to make this very clear, the individual forced entry into this home and our homeowner confronted him with his own gun.”
Riddle continued, “You have a right to protect yourself and your family inside of your home at all times as long as that force is reasonable and you are protecting your life, the life of a third party which in this sense is our homeowner’s family.”
From Baltimore, Maryland;
The owner, Mario Kazzalbach, told police that as he was closing for the night when a man entered the restaurant, displayed a handgun and demanded money. Police said two more men entered the store, one of whom displayed a handgun.
“Each one has the gun, the masks, everything. They say, ‘No play, no play.’ Each one have a gun. Each one have a gun. Three people, I got three guns on my head,” Kazzalbach said.
Kazzalbach told police that he complied with the robbers’ demands, giving them money, his necklace and a cellphone, and they fled.
As the robbers fled, Kazzalbach said one turned and fired a shot at him. He was able to grab a shotgun he keeps for protection and fired a shot back.
“Each one of them had big guns. I have to save my life,” Kazzalbach said.
Police searched with K-9 units but were unable to find the three suspects.
From Alabama Shores, Alabama;
Colbert County Sheriff Frank Williamson said the man was shot by a homeowner who confronted the robber inside his residence around 3 a.m.
The sheriff has not released the name of the homeowner nor the robbery suspect.
“The homeowner was asleep, something woke him up, he saw the robber standing in the doorway between the bedroom and kitchen,” the sheriff said.
Williamson said the homeowner confronted the robber, telling him “get out, I’ve got a gun.”
“Apparently, the robber told the homeowner he had a gun also and they started exchanging gun fire.”
Authorities said nearly a dozen shots were fired inside the residence.
“How the homeowner didn’t get shot, I don’t know,” Williamson said.
He said the suspected robber, after being shot, ran out of the house, and he and a girlfriend ran into a wooded area. The sheriff said the department’s canine located the suspect around daylight about 250 to 300 yards from the house.
At another link, we’re told that the suspect is in critical condition.
From Jacksonville, Florida;
A police report says the pizza delivery driver was walking into a business on Lem Turner Road when a man with a gun demanded money.
“I seen them give you the money but I am not gonna kill you ’cause you might have kids,” the robbery suspect, later identified as Priest Jordan, told the driver.
The driver said he handed Jordan $91 in cash and his keys then backed away as Jordan got into his car.
The driver said Jordan suddenly re-emerged, pointed the gun at him and fired shots.
The driver said he pulled out his own gun and began to fire back at Jordan.
The driver said Jordan fired multiple shots at him, but all of them missed.
Jordan fled on foot and got into a white SUV, witnesses said.
Mr Jordan is in custody and no one was injured in the gunfight.

Well, I don’t see anything from around my neck of the woods so I guess it’s safe to go outside today. Armed.
WOW! Busy night, whole lot of scumbags out there. It is spring and that brings the scum floating to the surface.
Whole lot of range time needed out there….
Range time people, you need more range time.
Simple economics; dead thugs don’t require costly trials or government sponsored daycare for decades at the gray bar hotel.
Six incidents of thuggery, and not one of the thugs was removed from the gene pool. Plenty of ammo used, but the people hadn’t had ample training or range time. It isn’t how many shots are fired, it is how well the shots are placed, that counts.
The thug in Indy IS taking the long dirt nap…
And, reading the story, it appears that the yute was out on bond for a residential B&E or two, or more.
Cue up his momma to appear on TV, wailing that he dindu nuffin, and was just trying to get some cash for his summertime fun activities.
Was Mario running a lake trout joint in Bodymore?
I dunno, but Scott Hagan seems to have done ok shooting at a moving truck that was being driven at him – after the driver had demonstrated a willingness to run into/over everything. Trying to shoot the perp while not getting run over is not one of the skills you can practice at a range too often.
Scott Hagan was the perp driving the truck at the homeowner.
…and this happened in Fresno CA, day before yesterday. The home invaders were ventilated by some .223 ammo, which is good, but the father who shouted the warning to his family paid for it with his life. Not quite a happy ending at all. http://abc30.com/news/3-killed-1-injured-east-fresno-gunfight-police-say/2068183/
