Illegal immigration plunges in first quarter of 2017
According to AFP, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly told the Senate Committee on Homeland Security that the flow of illegal immigrants in March fell 30% from February and 64% from a year ago.
“We’ve seen an absolutely amazing drop in the number of migrants coming out of Central America,” he said.
“In particular we have seen a dramatic reduction in the number of families, the number of children.”
The decline comes after a surge in the last three months of 2016 that appeared to be a reaction to the looming crackdown Trump promised in his presidential campaign.
Funny how that works. Just talking tough seems to have discouraged illegal immigration as opposed to the previous administration’s open arms policy.

So… that warning worked? Good. I hope it lasts.
Score!
Not one surprise here
DHS/CBP keeps a running 15-day tally of southern border apprehensions. It was slightly above 6000 yesterday. Down from 16,000.
If people want to come here, fine. There’s a right way to do it, and it ain’t that hard. Anyone willing to do it the right way is more than welcome.
Anyone trying to sneak in is demonstrating that they can’t be trusted right off the bat.
I likes it. And make no mistake. The busses and transports are being readied for the Big Push. ICE is everywhere and while I don’t want to start rumors, of course, I hear that they will be checking student enrollments and hospital records under a super-secret law that was super secretly passed recently.
It irritates the hell out of me that it’s being done in secret, but I suppose the current media climate has something to do with that. I just saw on the news yesterday that the ACLU is pressuring Chula Vista (second-biggest city in San Diego County, city limit is just north of the border) to do the sanctuary thing. Interestingly, the residents don’t seem very supportive. We’ll see if the city council actually listens to their constituents.
Ping budda-bing!, I like it when a new administration lives up to its promises! I’ve been following some articles about how CA courthouse officials have been bawling about ICE Personnel prowling in their facilities to pick up illegal aliens for detention and deportation, I wonder what chickenshit stunts the left will try to pull to keep their agenda alive?
The flap about that continues. Some legal geniuses are saying that the executive branch is encroaching on the judicial branch b/c of law enforcement’s snatching illegals who appear for court. That’s as funny as it is silly. Those who want law enforcement out of the courthouse don’t really want them out or judges and ct personnel will be at risk. See, that’s not encroachment, somehow. It’s only when LE acts against illegals that it is.
And one more thought, API. Aside from potentially being arrested by attempting to enter a courthouse with illicit stuff, I have seen people arrested for outstanding warrants in courthouses. Somehow, those things are okay but illegals are sacrosanct.
I had a civil trial once with a plaintiff who was arrested at the end of the trial. The bailiff had run a warrant check on him. He and his attorney were the only ones who seemed upset about it. The judge didn’t have a problem with it. And I thoroughly enjoyed watching this a-hole being hooked up after we won the case, with his smarmy attorney vociferously objecting. He was an Israeli here apparently legally, but he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for something. Arresting people when they come to court has been going on forever, as far as I can ascertain.
The argument that illegals should be somehow exempt is absurd. Anyone who attempts to interfere with a federal officer carrying out such an arrest at a state or local courthouse should be immediately charged in federal court with interfering in the performance of duties of a federal law enforcement officer.
Channel surfing last night, and came across Noticero Univision.
Much crying and rending of garments, lemme tell ya. I thought Jorge Ramos was gonna throw a clot by the third story.
we can only hope…
We need to keep this up. We should take lessons from Australia, those guys know how to secure their borders.
They do have the advantage on us, being an island and all.
Smuggling is as old as boats.
The opposite was true when GWB was talking path to citizenship. We had a huge surge that leveled off only when the economy crashed.
Funny how these things work
I’m pretty much at Ground Zero for Illegal Imigration (Southern California). I’ve noticed a HUGE difference in the areas where illegals gather at and the numbers. There is a Swap Meet (Old Drive in) where illegal day Laborers would hang out at to get picked up for jobs. A lot of times now its empty.
Also on weekends and evenings you could bank on every bit of park grass and School yard being swarmed with illegals playing soccer, using t shirts to mark the goals.
Now, not so much.
