The investigation revealed that defendant Williams approached one of occupants outside the Walnut Street residence and asked him for drugs. The resident advised Williams that he did not have any drugs and entered his home in order to avoid Williams. A short time later, a second resident went outside and was approached by defendant Williams who asked this individual for money and drugs while brandishing a handgun. Williams then forced the individual back into the Walnut Street residence where a brief struggle ensued. The other residents attempted to barricade themselves from defendant Williams by closing an interior door; however, Williams was able to force himself into the room. In an attempt to protect themselves, the residents engaged in a physical confrontation with Williams and were successful in disarming him. After dialing 9-1-1 the residents held defendant Williams until the arrival of patrol officers. The officers retrieved a loaded Lorsin .380 caliber handgun which defendant Williams used during the robbery.

The officers also rendered medical aid to defendant Williams who had a non-life threatening head injury, which he received from the occupants of the residence during the attempted robbery encounter.
