Ted Lieu refuses to attend Inauguration

| January 19, 2017

KABC7 report that Ted Lieu, who represents California’s 33rd District in Los Angeles County, joins 60 other Democrats who are refusing to participate or attend the Inauguration this week;

In a statement, he said it was a personal decision and that he doesn’t dispute Trump’s presidency.

“Trump – who lost the popular vote – made a series of racist, sexist and bigoted statements,” he said. “In addition, he attacked Gold Star parents, veterans such as John McCain and now civil rights icon John Lewis.”

The difference between Lieu and the other Democrats is that he’s a Reserve Colonel. He drills weekly with the 157th IMA Detachment, a Joint (Army, Navy, USAF) unit on Capitol Hill that meets and provides a means for Congressional officials, their staff, and others in DC to earn their points while holding civilian positions not conducive to the traditional Reserve schedule. He loves to talk about being a veteran and to talk about his service. He spent four years on active duty as a JAG officer,

Now his commander-in-chief is Donald Trump. In my opinion, someone in his position should attend the Inauguration as a military officer, not avoid it for purely political reasons and set the example for his troops. If he had refused to attend the Obama Inauguration for political reasons, he wold be out on the pavement.

Thanks to Steve for the link.

Trump should call him to Active Duty, and then send him on a tour of duty in Antarctica.

David

I’d be happy if Lieu’s CO smacked him with a ‘conduct unbecoming’ charge for publicly disrespecting the CiC.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Activate him, make his place of duty the inauguration, THEN send him to Antarctica!

I guess the assclown forgot who he answers to as an officer in the military. And, I’m sure that if he’s up for promotion anytime soon, that his superiors may “remember” his little stunt…

desert

Amen! He is proud of his “veteran service”? How about the pussy actually SERVICE SOME TIME? A communist light colonel, wunnerful!

I’d like to know what he did to rate that Meritorious Service Medal that he’s sporting on his jacket lapel in the photo posted above.

AZtoVA

Better known as a Field Grade Good Conduct Medal. He did his ‘job’, got his end of tour award.

Reminds me of a scene from the Clark Gable film “Command Decision” …

IIRC, he got it for being a straphanger on a B-17 flight that wasn’t supposed to see any action, but was shot up by some Zeroes.

Bobo

I started getting MSMs as PCS awards as a junior major. Honestly, if you don’t have at least one as a field grade, you are regarded (rightly) as an incompetent jackass.

The fact that he’s not wearing a BSM also speaks volumes.

just some feller

I got mine as a company commander; now I’m feeling pretty good about that one!

rgr769

Same here, but my CIB, Ranger tab and SF tab mean more to me. BSM’s for officers were often an I was there medal if there was no “V” device.

Didn’t vote for either DJ Trump or Hillary Diane Clinton as politicians can’t be trusted. But DJ Trump won the election and he is the President. Congressman Ted W. Lieu is a fanatic on some topics such as homosexuality.

Ted W. Lieu sponsored the California law against therapy for gays and lesbians who want to be straight as California law banned it for minors. Don’t be surprised if in future, Ted W. Lieu or those like him would ban therapy altogether for gays/lesbianism and the 2012 law is first step.

Ted W. Lieu is likely an apologist for sex changes and Ted W. Lieu sees nothing wrong with giving a kid hormones to make them fake opposite sex members. Childhood sexual abuse is linked to this as it is linked to homosexuality and lesbianism.

AZtoVA

Read “The Forever War” by Joe Haldeman (I believe a VN Vet.

SciFi book written in the ’70s. A background/sub-plot (one of many) of the story is Earth eventually makes homosexuality the norm, ostracizes heteros as ‘gay’ as a form of population control. Definitely an alternate reality some in this country, like Teddy here, would like to take us towards.

But read the book – VERY good.

David

Believe it was the first novel to win both the Hugo and the Nebula. Ranks with ‘Starship Troopers’ – Haldeman’s a hell of a writer in spite of some of his politics.

desert

You missed the point! Trump IS NOT a politician, why in hell do you think everyone voted for him?

2/17 Air Cav

Are you a Westboro Baptist Church member or what? I mean, most every damn thing you write here has to do with queers and hell. Who are you?

A.B.

Before answering, I brought it up here only because I saw Ted W. Lieu’s name mentioned & my comment relates to him. Ted W. Lieu is a fanatic on some topics such as homosexuality and I’m neither Democrat or Republican. I agree with Ted W. Lieu on some topics such as protecting endangered species. On some topics though, Ted. W. Lieu is a fanatic. With other things you asked.

About me-I’m not religious, though I did go to Christian schools when as a boy (1970s)as we had immigrated to in 1972 & my parents believed Christian schools would give better education. Turns out 1 of the priests @ our school was a gay pedofile.

I’m not religious in that if there’s a God, then why why does mass murder, wars, assault & battery, etc. happen ? Christians say free will, but when Dylan Storm Roof mass murdered, the victims had no free will.

I’m a nonreligious person who sees something wrong with homosexual & lesbian conduct & I think that they must make it a crime to do sex changes. I don’t care about gay/lesbian marriage.

With gay/lesbian conduct by adults, while I don’t believe in making it a crime by consenting adults, I do believe it’s best to find a cure for homosexual/lesbian conduct just as it’s best to find cure for tobacco use-also a legal product. If homosexual/lesbian conduct and tobacco use were to disappear eventually, then it’s fine with me and I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. I believe in abolishing sex change mutilations.

2/17 Air Cav

I think I see the issue. You use silver foil and a plastic colander. Switch to gold and a metal colander. By the way, you never answered my single question so, I may as well ask you another. Are you a US military veteran?

A.B.

No I’m not a US military veteran. You asked me if I was a WBC member and I said I’m not religious and I’m not a Christian.

2/17 Air Cav

Whew. Okay.

Graybeard

I would contend that the members of WBC are not religious and not Christians, but point taken.

SFC D

The WBC is more along the lines of “Orthodox Assholes”.

2/17 Air Cav

Actually, I took the answer to mean either that he/she doesn’t know what WBC is or is actually a member and being evasive. No, the Westboro sickos are not Christians and are not religious. They are sick zealots. If anyone asked me that, I’d threaten to kick their balls into their throat. A.B. didn’t and I knew right then that we weren’t dealing with a Veteran.

SFC D

Skippy may have a few of his copper foil helmets left. Users report that they’re very effective but must be grounded properly.

But do they come with a ground wire? And if so, how long is it? As it would seem to limit one’s range of movement to the length of the wire.

Wrong. Evil met free will in the murderer. The victims were innocent and graced with free will as are all of us.

Attend, don’t attend. Not sure why I should care what any of them, other that the 2 senators and one representative who actually represent me in Congress, do. Oh, sure, it’s a curiosity, but not of any significance in my mundane life.

Oh, well. The media and whoever it is that is pulling their collective chains insist that I be concerned about the guest list and status of RSVP’s for this event, so I must pretend to care. Silly.

Silentium Est Aureum

That’s okay, my “representative” decided to sit out tomorrow.

I hope she remembers she got her seat with 43 percent of the vote in my district.

It’s time to start cleaning and taking out all of this Obama trash ! ! ! !

And Bush was not President and Al “I Invented the Internet” Gore is still saying it. As a conservative I had to suck it up for 8 years. Time to buck up, sissy pants! He is the President, He is my President, just as Obama was my President. I don’t have to like the guy in the office but he is still President.

2/17 Air Cav

I don’t have any issue with the progressive commie libtards disliking Trump or claiming to disown him. In fact, I’m all for it. Many of us who opposed oBaMa initially did so because he was a radical who wanted to transform America. As time went on, he gave us substantive reason to detest him and want him out of our White House. I’ll spare the litany of his offenses. I loathe the SOB. He was only my president insofar as he was, in fact, president and I remained a US citizen during his two painful terms in office. In all other senses of the word “my” he was not my president.

rgr769

The reason we didn’t consider him “our President” is because he acted like he despised us and everything we believe in. He wanted to transform this country into a perpetually Democrat party controlled quasi people’s socialist/crypto-communist corruptocracy. He thought he could community organize the whole country into something his Marxist mentors would admire. He never earned an honest dollar his entire life, but he thinks he shits ice cream and there aren’t enough spoons to go around. He is in a word a hate-American. He is the reason the country is so divided.

nbcguy54ACTUAL

Just leaving another seat open for those who do actually care to see history and democracy in action. No loss.
I also see that our Slammintonio twins, the Castrated Brothers, made a big deal about not attending as well. Big Whoopee.

Is there a way to keep these fools out of DC permanently??

Sapper3307

According to the interweb, The Clintons paid the Khans a mere $375.000 for their time on stage. Their son was hero but the parents are filth.

60 Democrats proving that they are nothing more than little spoiled brats. I’ll bet it’s many of the same bunch that thought that a “sit-in” on the floor of the Senate (or was it the House?) was a good idea. Change their diapers, put their pacifiers back into their mouths, and put them to bed.

I can’t stand all those people. Otherwise, I’d go just to watch the libtards and their antics.

A.B.

Pres. DJ Trump (I do not support him) got some non-White votes-8% Black, 29% Hispanic, 29% Asian & some American Indian or Native American votes. Any protesters who wanted Hillary Diane Clinton to be Pres. but didn’t vote, have no right to complain about Pres. elect DJ Trump. He won the election fair. As Pres. Obama said-don’t boo, vote.

OWB

Yeah, well, actually , they DO have the right to complain. US citizens have the freedom to not vote, just as we have the right to vote. No one is required to listen to their complaints, but they certainly have the right to do it.

A.B.

Yes, they have the free speech right to complain about Pres. DJ Trump only what I mean is we have a right to tell the complainers that their complaints are useless, esp. if they didn’t vote. When Pres. Obama when the election & reelection in 2008 & 2012, I did not protest because Pres. Obama won fair. People must accept DJ Trump winning election fairly.

I love how all of these Democrats are boycotting the inauguration. How many Republicans boycotted the inauguration of Obama?

says 19 Republicans failed to attend the initial Obama inauguration, but does not state whether or not they boycotted the even had other obligations elsewhere, were sick, etc.

Eden

Even if some did boycott the Obama inauguration, they didn’t advertise the fact.

Green Thumb

Who?

I looked over the list at those folks not attending. And the news networks have made a big show of it.

But as I looked them over it dawned on me that I had never heard of any of them. These folks are doing nothing and making it sound like they are changing the game.

Self-promotion at tits finest.

I could care less if they stay home.

oBaMa, a day before he’s out on his ass, ordered an airstrike in Syria. Pardon me for laughing.

ChipNASA

He apparently authorized B2 to fly from Whiteman AFB, refuel 5 times, and return, non stop, circling the globe.

I bet those aircrew have some nice words for the CiC.

Like, here’s the shit out of my diaper, have a nice day.

The Stranger

That’s fucked up…what is that, 30+ hours of flight time? No point to the whole exercise, except to show that we can. Hell, they probably bombed empty desert.

I’m so sick of the popular vote bullshit. You know what DIDN’T win the popular vote? Gay Marriage. It failed to win the popular vote in every single one of the 35 states where it was voted on. Not ONE state passed gay marriage laws due to a popular vote, including California. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Mr. Representative.

God damn it these people suck.

2/17 Air Cav

Yes, in chronological order, we have Baracka Hussein, the Senate, and five members of the Supreme Court to thank for that idiocy. In the Senate, the vote to confirm Sotomayor included nine Republicans, led by Miss Lindsay Graham. In the vote to confirm Kagan, five RINOs, again led by Miss Graham, said aye. Graham, you see, likes to say that elections have consequences and one of them is that a president gets to put on the Supreme Court whomever he wants. Of course, that renders superfluous the consent part of the Senate’s constitutional charge. What I want to know is how the Supreme Court discovered a fundamental right to marriage, irrespective of gender, when for a couple of centuries the nation’s greatest legal minds never saw it. Hell, four of the nine justices sitting when the decision was rendered failed to see it, too.

rgr769

Same sex “marriage” is no constitutional right. Kennedy taught my Con Law class; and there is no way I can find it is a fundamental right. The equal protection argument is a complete fiction. Homosexuals have the same and equal right to marry a person of the opposite gender, as does every other person. They just choose not to do so. If one has a fundamental constitutional right to marry the object of one’s affection, then there is no reason one can’t have multiple spouses or marry a pet goat.

2/17 Air Cav

But five lawyers said it is not only a right but a fundamental right. It’s insane. It’s wrong on several levels. And it’s the law of the land.

Ex-PH2

I don’t understand the fuss about this. It should be covered by the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which people seem to have forgotten.

If two people who pee standing up or sitting want to get married to each other, who gives a crap as long as they have a good life? I don’t care, unless it becomes a political issue and is forced down my throat as if I were a Thanksgiving turkey.

It should be addressed by that 1964 legislation, but no one is paying attention. And if chicks with dicks want to use the women’s restroom while real women are in there, they’d better sit for everything, period. Otherwise, until the stalls become lockable private rooms, they can be taken for sexual predators.

Good manners are always in vogue. This is something that escapes these ‘RIGHTS’ morons, but then, they have no manners to begin with.

rgr769

I don’t care if they butt-phuck each other at high noon in the town square after some religious ceremony by a high priest or the Pope. It’s still not a “marriage.” And some progtard jurist does not confer it(same-sex marriage) as a fundamental right under the constitution. This whole campaign by the LGBT activists has been prosecuted by them from its inception to get the heterosexual world to accept their deviancy as a norm or a preferred norm. Even in states where they were given all the rights of real married couples through civil unions, they insisted it wasn’t enough. They are now in our schools promoting homosexuality and trans-genderism to our children. They are not going to be satisfied until they can come to your front door like the Jehova’s Witnesses and say, “You have to watch me pound my boyfriend in the ass; and you will like it. Then you will suck my dick!” Ten years ago, when I told my brother this was their true goal, he said I was being ridiculous. He is a semi-libtard (always votes Green party), but he now admits I was/am right about this. That IMHO, is what this is all about.

Got a question for y’all. There’s a picture on Foxnews.com of a couple of Zoomies saluting Trump as he gets off a plane (I think). Is it protocol to salute the pres-elect?

2/17 Air Cav

CSB and TMI because I was an Andrews AFB weenue for 19 years.
<b. The entire Trump family including their grand kids, arrived on US Air Force (USAF) Boeing C-32 (B752), 90016, named Air Force Two, Built in 1998.
I would believe as he is the incoming CiC and President Elect, the protocol would be fitting.
a VIP at least.

Eden

I thought it was called Air Force Two only when it is carrying the Vice President? That’s the way it was when President Bush 41, then the VP, was flight to Carswell for the GOP convention in 1984.

MK75Gunner

All this virtue signaling. Answering the question no one is asking “Are you attending the inauguration?” Nobody gives a fuck if you attend or not. Just an attempt to burnish their left wing prog credentials. I do wonder however reading some of the statements Colonel Lieu has publicly made regarding Trump; when Trump assumes the office on Friday can Lieu be charged under Article 88 of the UCMJ if he continues to make these statements?

Text
“Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

Elements
(1) That the accused was a commissioned officer of the United States armed forces;

(2) That the accused used certain words against an official or legislature named in the article;

(3) That by an act of the accused these words came to the knowledge of a person other than the accused; and

(4) That the words used were contemptuous, either in themselves or by virtue of the circumstances under which they were used. Note: If the words were against a Governor or legislature, add the following element

(5) That the accused was then present in the State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession of the Governor or legislature concerned.

2/17 Air Cav

The problem, if there is one, is that the UCMJ is trumped by the Speech and Debate Clause of the Constitution. As a sitting member of Congress, he can say damn near anything he wants.

MK75Gunner

Sadly I posed this rhetorically knowing full well that these cocksuckers can say anything and fear no repercussions. I wonder what he’s like come Reserve drill weekend. If I was his CO I would remind him that while he is in uniform and on duty he is a member of the Military and subject to said Article….but that’s just me.

rgr769

This closeted buttwipe serves in a special reserve unit specifically created for politicians. His C.O. is prolly a DC politician, as well; so the likelihood of any repercussions is none. He’ll prolly get “attaboy’s” from is butt-buddies in his unit.

Ex-PH2

Aaaah! Don’t be too hard on yourself, Gunner. This little snot’s career doesn’t amount to a hill of beans anyway. He’s just another attention hog.

You simply need to get the annoyance out of your system so that you can focus on the really important issues:
1 – bodaprez is gone.

2 – Trump’s job starts today.

End of story.

Now go to the ‘Thursday Recipes’ page, pick something scrumptious, fix it and set up a buffet table with champagne or beer or coffee, or whatever your favorite beverage is.

swormy

Dems just have to mention the popular vote, like that somehow taints the election. Not the Republicans fault that Hillary forgot to focus Electoral College votes.

11B-Mailclerk

And they thus think the 2016 World Series was a -tie- because the Cubs and Indians both scored 27 runs?

jonp

You actually raise a good point. Trump is his CIC. Shouldn’t he be compelled to attend and if he refuses be dismissed from the service? How does that work?
