Saturday morning feel good stories

| November 12, 2016

A homeowner in Coral Gables, Florida shot out the tire of a van driven by Eliades Serrano-Alvarez, 24 as he fled from the scene of his burglary. Alvarez had thrown a tire iron at the homeowner while he was trying to escape which prompted the homeowner to shoot out the tire. Police stopped the van which had one flat tire and arrested Alvarez.

A retired NYPD detective who claims that she never fired her gun during her 23-year career, shot two fellows who attempted to rob her and her daughter when they were leaving a concert in Newark, New Jersey. Both are recovering from their injuries. It looks like they were holding a fake gun when they tried to rob the former detective, but that’s not her problem.

In Lubbock, Texas, a homeowner was forced to shoot a neighbor who forced his way into the home wielding two knives and threatening the homeowner. Police claim that the neighbor was having a medical issues when he broke into the home and that he’s been taken to the hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries.

Don’t mess with momma when her cub is nearby. Good for the cop.

Ex-PH2

Crimestoppers are everywhere these days, aren’t they?

Deplorable B Woodman

Why are there so many stoopid criminals? Or is that a redundancy by definition?
I guess the thieves in today’s stories never learned the lesson, “don’t bring a (knife, toy gun, tire iron) to a gun fight”.

A Mom had a gun (fake or not, I don’t care) pointed at her and her daughter by one of two would-be robbers. Mom shot them both. Man, this is one of the better feel-good stories I ever read.

Hayabusa

It’s nice that she had a gun to defend herself with. Being a retired cop and all. It would be even nicer if New Jersey would respect the same rights of regular, non-cop citizens.

Silentium Est Aureum

Sadly, the only mistake she made was doing it in Jersey.

To say NJ gun laws are draconian would be kind, to the point where even out of state LEO’S are not allowed to concealed carry.

Hayabusa

Out-of-state LEOs are allowed to carry anywhere in the U.S. under LEOSA (subject to certain stipulations). So New Jersey has no say in the matter. What would be really great would be if NJ actually respected the Second Amendment rights of everyone else.

UpNorth

It will be even better if President Trump follows through on National Reciprocity for CPLs.
On a related note, how would that work for those states that don’t require a permit? Could this end the mish-mash of requirements for concealed carry?
