Sheriff David Clarke on a plane
A number of readers have sent us the story of Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke’s run in with an inebriated sot, Preston Bluntson, on a plane from Milwaukee to Charlotte the other day. According to Fox News;
“This goof took the cabin over like it was his private jet. He was moving up and down the aisles, he was in different seats. He was intoxicated, cursing and swearing. It was very intimidating for a lot of the passengers and the flight crew on that plane and so I kept my eyes on him the entire time… I did [what] was instinctive in me; that was to protect and take action. And I just had to pick a spot, I didn’t want to have to be grappling with this guy for an hour,” [Clarke told Stuart Varney].

“When I told him to sit down, he wouldn’t. So, then I shoved him face down into the seat, pinned him against the seat and put one arm behind his back, told him to stay there [and] not resist arrest. I told the flight attendant to radio for police at the gate, to have the police meet me there – they did. When they boarded, I asked the officer who came up to me, I said, ‘give me your handcuffs.’ She did, and then I handcuffed him, [and] turned him over. I didn’t worry about jurisdiction or that nonsense. I had to worry about protecting people,” he said.
Apparently, Buntson wasn’t impressed with Clarke’s political connections – he disparaged the officer’s politics, so he ended up eating an airplane seat. According to Law Newz, Bluntson told Clarke “You’re not one of us”, I guess meaning Clarke isn’t one of the assholes.
Bluntson was taken into custody by Charlotte Police and spent some time in the Mecklenburg County Jail before he was released on bail.

at least at the airport where I work, if you act the fool on a plane, you wind up with local charges, as well as federal charges. one recent fool found out the hard way the feds don’t play, and was fined a little more than $100,000, and when he said he didn’t have that kind of money, they judge told him that was OK, they would put a lien on his house.
On behalf of Sheriff Clarke, I would like to thank all of the people who rendered assistance to the sheriff in subduing this clown. That would be–let me count them–NONE.

On his way to the BLM riots no doubt. That would explain the “You’re not one of us,” comment to the Sheriff.
It would also explain why the crew were letting him get away with his asshole act: they were afraid of being called racists and being involved in a racial incident.
Sheriff Clarke will likely get sued by this jerk. I hope he put some hurt on him like tightening those cuffs real tight.
What is clear is that Sheriff Clarke is “one of us”, people who don’t measure other people solely by the color of their skin.
That’s why flight attendants need body cams.
And pepper spray. The big size, for use on bears.
Pepper spray, in a spam-can in the sky? Seems like a bad idea.

Sheriff Clarke is a lawman in the true old-school sense of the word. Notice I don’t say “LEO” or any of the other currently-in-vogue terms; he’s a lawman. You don’t fuck with a lawman.
