Saturday morning feel good stories
Slim pickin’s this morning;
In Benton Harbor, Michigan, a victim was lured into an alley by two thieves, but he refused to cooperate. One of the crooks shot him. He responded by drawing his own firearm and busting a cap to send a bullet into the face of the crook. The other criminal un-assed the area at a high rate of speed only to be caught by police a little later. There’s no word on the condition of either of the injured people.
This isn’t a feel good story, per se, but it’s something to think about; in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Markus Williams was arrested in late June for threatening to kill a woman who testified against his brother in a murder case. The judge had imposed a $25,000 bail on Williams. After several weeks, it was clear that Williams wouldn’t be able to raise the money necessary to make bail, so Judge Paul Zozos made it an “unsecured bail” meaning that he could pay it later. Four days later, Williams murdered Bryan Taylor while he was given the gift of freedom by a judge.
The prosecutor says that if the judge had asked him, as required by law, he would have opposed switching the bail from monetary to unsecured. Apparently, Williams had recently finished serving ten years for two armed robberies. A few weeks after his release, he’d been arrested for assaulting two juveniles.
In a similar case, Glenn Walker III was arrested in December for shooting at people outside a Harrisburg club. His bail was set at only $25,000 for the crime. He came up with a bond for the money. A few days later, he was arrested for drug possession and released once again on a $25,000 bond. A few months after that, he murdered John Thomas Carter, a nephew of a Harrisburg cop. The judge in Walker’s case was Judge George Zozos, the father of the judge in Williams’ case last month.
I’ll bet that there is a Pennsylvania legislator who is writing a law right now to punish law abiding gun owners for this situation.
In an update to the story yesterday about a 15-year-old in Myrtle Point, Oregon who had to defend his home with a shotgun blast to the leg of a criminal. Coos County District Attorney Rob Frasier said about the shooting “..the young man in question was obviously scared about what was going on and so, no question in my mind that this was justifiable.” Meanwhile, 33-year-old Kenneth John Edwards, the criminal, is still in the hospital being treated for his wounds.

Someone needs to fire that PA judge. He’s not real bright.
And his father too, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…
NO…someone needs to HANG THAT LIBERAL MORONIC JUDGE!!
In the Oregon story, I’m really surprised that some liberal prosecutor isn’t going after the parents for allowing a minor access to a gun.
Good job kid….
Not in that part of the state, Coos county is very rural and conservative. It’s the type of area that if people see that kid going down the street, he’d get offered a ride home and maybe lunch outta it too. Or a parade, it’s that type of town.
Two things… First pass a law abolishing any protection afforded civil servants from civil liability when negligence is clear. Make them like doctors, therapists, lawyers and any other professional licensed individual – have to carry Mal-practice insurance and have to protect their professional reputations.
Second, do not think the criminal justice system is your friend; it is not; another two examples of negligence by officers of the court. At this time we are all on our own; paraphrasing Nigel, “The criminal justice system is failing and your answer is more criminal justice?”
