Friday morning feel good stories

| July 15, 2016

Aysel sends us a link to a story that happened in Portland, Oregon, where a homeowner found an intruder in his house. Police responded to a call at about 1AM Thursday and found the homeowner injured and the intruder DRT (dead right there).

A homeowner in Phoenix, Arizona came home and found damage to his door. He found nothing missing or damaged. Later he awoke to an intruder in his home with a crowbar. The resident grabbed his gun and shot the intruder and held him until the police arrived on the scene.

Attorney Matthew Jack Fitzharris, 29, of Chattanooga, Tennessee broke into an elderly Catoosa County, Georgia couple’s home and yelled at them and threw stuff at them until they shot him in the arm when he lunged at them. The police took him to the hospital and then to the hoosegow. I’m sure he’s a joy for the jailers.

In Meade County, Kentucky, Ron Sheffield came home and found his door wide open, so he entered his home with his gun drawn. Inside he ran into Mark Jones, 29, who was wielding a machete. Sheffield ordered the thief on his yellow belly and held him at gun point until the police hauled him off. He discovered that Jones had shot his dog Shadow twice and threw a knife at the poor little guy. Shadow is expected to recover.

A Friday morning 4-fer. Good times …

If I return home and find a door open, I’m not entering. I’m calling LEO.

Frankie Cee "In the clear"

I would enter, but cautiously, and well armed and aware. Calling law enforcement first might hinder my community clean up effort. I would call them just to take the report, and clean up the mess.

OldManchu

Lol yes indeed!

It may depend on the nature of what is inside the home.
One of my friends 30+ years ago had his FFL and, so, a few full-auto firearms in his house.
When he came home to his door open, his concern was those full-auto weapons getting into the criminal community – so he entered with handgun drawn, and when a perp stuck his head out the door drilled him through the cranium.
It could be argued that he was going up against someone possibly armed with a full-auto, but in his favor a) he knew the battleground better than they b) they probably had no experience with full-autos and c) he was ready and willing to shoot first.
The perp did not survive, his buddies were rounded up, all weapons returned to my friend – plus Houston PD gave my friend free post-incident counseling to help him come to grips with having to kill the perp.
I don’t know if that is still policy – but it was an outstanding example of civilians and LEO working together.

Anyone that shoots my dog(s) is going to DIE RIGHT THERE!!!

Frankie Cee "In the clear"

Law abiding citizens protecting life, limb and property with guns. It works. In each of these situations, what might have happened if the citizen had not been armed, had to rely on the response of police to protect them and their goods?
And that lawyer? Was he the spawn, or the prodigy of some inept, nearly disbarred attorney?

OldManchu

Oh hell no! He shot the dog and then went all knife throwing ninja on him?

Too bad Fido doesn’t get 60 seconds to shred that dudes nuts!

UpNorth

Sheffield should have shot the asshole a few more times.

Happy endings for all!

Ex-PH2

Poor Shadow. I hope he gets well, and is waiting for the perp when he gets out of jail.

I’m glad to know that people are not taking criminal behavior from others lying down.

Devtun

I guess ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side.

Dapandico

Mathew the attorney i
Was oblivious to the homeowners ROE.

David

Invade my house – at your peril.

Mess with the dog? Have a plot selected.

(Mess with the wife? Who cares what happens to a housebreaker…)

B Woodman

I wonder how long the Portland homeowner waited between shooting the perp, and calling the police, to let the perp bleed out “DRT”?
Just asking. . . . .

B Woodman

Somebody come in and shoot AT my dog, they MIGHT be allowed to be arrested intact. Might. . . .

Somebody comes in and actually SHOOTS my dog, no mercy. They WILL eventually be arrested, but they’re not leaving intact. Surrendered or not, shots through knees and elbows will put a permanent crimp in future criminal endeavors. My dog is my fifth “child” that will grow older, but never grow up.

OC

BW, there is no lower form of life than someone who would harm an innocent critter in someone’s home.
Besides the knees and elbows one in the nut sack.
