Hungry, hungry airmen
Marine_7002 and Chip send us a link from Fox News which reports that 60th Air Mobility Wing public affairs office posted photos of their airmen playing games like a life-sized “Hungry, hungry Hippos” for team-building activities day, Wingman Day;
“Airmen launch into a life-size version of ‘Hungry Hungry Hippos’ as part of a team building experience during Wingman Day activities,” a caption reads. “The Wingman Day program provides training, and hands-on participation exercises for Airmen and frontline supervisors to enhance their ability to recognize and effectively intervene with other Airmen in distress, utilizing the PRESS (Prepare, Recognize, Engage, Send, and Sustain) model.”
Wingman Days in the past have included team 5K runs, where airmen are tied together during the race.
Silly us. We played like football and baseball for our “Organized Grab Ass” days or “Mandatory Fun Days”. The article points out;
Workers at the Veterans Affairs administration came under fire last year when a video emerged of them playing a life-size version of “Hungry Hungry Hippos” that lasted most of the work day on the taxpayer’s dime.
Of course, the Air Force actually accomplishes it’s missions, so they should have a little fun. They don’t have hundreds of thousands of people waiting in line while they’re playing.

Uh-oh.
WHO in hell is running our military? they let that panty waisted p.o.s. obama dictate this shyt? No men left in upper echelons? THIS IS FREAKING PATHETIC!!
Booger at six o’clock, arm the Kleenex.
Our team-building exercises were 7 card stud and guts then spades when we were broke. Watching the guy get his ass kicked for not paying up on pay day was a “Mandatory Fun Day”.
Several of us were playing poker on a tdy to Holloman AFB when the wing king walked into the flightline shack. He said ” SSgt Pam what are you doing?” I said “Losing, sir.” He said, “Carry on”. I miss those days but I’m glad I’m retired.
The OI Division Chief would walk in and say, deal me in. I regret not making the Navy a career. I did 4 years active in the Navy and 4 years in the NJ ARNG. Woulda, shoulda, coulda. Thank you for your service to our nation.
LGBT Alliance????
I don’t get it…I really don’t.
We played hoop at Benning, we even had referees and a crowd…of course the referees didn’t call too many fouls as I recall…it was a physical game of basketball but it was a shitload of fun….
I’m of a mind that as long as the Air Force continues to succeed on mission with its limited resources this is about a big a non-issue as one can find…whatever keeps the troops working together and comfortable in their own skin isn’t a bad thing, whether that’s full contact basketball or fucking hungry hungry hippos….
Of course I am reminded of how nice their food was…even back in the 70s…

I know why Marine_7002 sent the link in. Exactly THIS ^^^^^
For me, it’s just ….*shakes my damn head* ..WTFF has happened to my beloved Air Force.
We played Vollyball and Basketball and touch football in MOPP 4. Not this panty-ass-Top-Gun-Tom-Cruise-pillow-biting-level-gay-crap.
Zombie General Curtis Emerson FUCKING LeMay is going to claw (Claw?) his way out of his grave and start sticking his boney foot in people’s asses.

Chip, I wondered how long it would take for you to weigh in.
Only 61 minutes. 😀
And…please state your gender self-identificaion on the sign up board.
Well it’s not the silliest thing I’ve seen or heard of, but it’s close.
I know you’d pipe in very shortly.
LOL
Yeah, what ever happened to beer and softball? It was definitely time for me to retire when I did.
“team building experience” should include, at a minimum, MILES gear, smoke bombs and no safe zones.
Fuck.
This is why I hug my DD-214 every damn night.
Really? The USAF sure has changed. I wear the green suit now….6 more years, 6 more years.
My kids HATE Wingman Day! They are constantly bombarded with sex assault/harassment avoidance training, suicide avoidance training, etc. Over and over and over.
My daughter, while sitting through yet another suicide prevention video, noticed that her ex-boyfriend, a sometimes actor, was in it. That provided LOTS of laughs.
When I went through Army Basic a few years back, my old ass had to sit through a SHARP brief with trainees younger than my kids. The funniest thing was they had 2 local actors run through a scenario and said…”what would you say to this girl.” This kid raised his hand and said “Hey baby. Wanna come back to my place and play video games and eat cereal?” The actors didn’t know what to say so the female says…”Has that line ever worked?” Funny stuff
Don’t even know what to say. During a time of war, if the participants haven’t already learned that they are part of a team, uhm, errrrra, golly gee whiz…
OK, back to my original first thought – WTF, over?
No more bull in the ring?
Where is the squad brawls?
Rip military stuff.
