Hundreds of LEO guns missing in California

| May 4, 2016

Bobo sends us a link to KSBW which reports that hundreds of firearms that were formerly controlled by law enforcement agencies in the San Francisco area have gone missing in the last six years.

NBC Bay Area’s investigation uncovered hundreds of guns missing from Bay Area law enforcement agencies, stolen from officers’ homes or vehicles, or simply unaccounted for. The BLM, the agency responsible for the gun that killed [Kate Steinle on Pier 14 in San Francisco on July 1, 2015], did not respond to NBC Bay Area’s open records requests submitted in July, shortly after the shooting, and the question of how many firearms that federal agency can’t account for remains open.

In fact, a number of the agencies failed to respond to the Freedom of Information Act request, so you would have to think that the actual number of weapons that are missing is much higher. Those agencies that didn’t respond said that it’s none of the public’s business. Their incompetence should not be on public display. And Math is hard, anyway.

If I’m not mistaken, there are laws in California that require citizens to properly secure their guns in order to keep them out of the hands of criminals and children. I guess those laws don’t pertain to LEOs.

I think California should write a law to prevent people from stealing guns from police.

It’s ok, because all of those stolen guns only had magazines that complied with state laws and the firing pins all microstamped information on the shell casings.
That way the state can track those guns back to the original owner.

Is this like the gun show loophole?

Silentium Est Aureum

Remember, the Larsie-bois and other assorted flaming liberal gun grabbers are the same folks who claim only LEOs are responsible enough to handle guns.

Yeah, not so much.

Thunderstixx

Imagine that… Only the police should have guns, they know how to responsibly handle them…
Ummmmm… Yeah, sure, ok fine…

As a California resident, taxpayer, and public employee, I can’t say I’m the least bit surprised, especially for the same city that sent that two-faced arms-smuggling asshole Leland Yee to Sacramento.

Also noticed their little blurb about “the gun that killed Kate Steinle.” No mention of the repeat-offender and illegal alien who shot her during a mugging. It was the gun’s fault! Obviously, that evil, nasty gun woke up that day with murderous intent…oh, wait a sec, it was a government-owned and -issued weapon. Everybody knows that it’s only privately-owned guns that are evil and bad. I wonder what happened with this government firearm that made it decide to be evil and get itself stolen so it could be used used in a murder. Maybe the gun had the PTSD?

Okay, sarcasm off now. Maybe all those self-righteous douchefucks in the domed whorehouse in Sacramento should worry about securing their own weapons before they write any more dick-beating laws about what I can and can’t do with mine. I own a rather large arsenal of rifles, pistols, and shotguns. None of mine have ever gone missing. At any given time, I can tell you exactly where to find every single one of them, and how they are secured. And I can guarantee that none of mine have ever been or will ever be used for a felonious purpose. The same cannot be said of the gun-grabbers of Sacramento, San Francisco, and LA. Yet they call me dangerous and irresponsible.

This is like that news item a couple years back about weapons being stolen from a freight car in a railyard on the south side of Chicago.

I’m sure the pohlease are quite embarrassed about this, as they should be, but they will never ‘fess up to their own carelessness, will they?

Oh, and illegal weapons in the hands of criminals ALWAYS come from straw purchases. Right? I mean, the Poodle said it, so it has to be true.

I remember when I learned back in the 90’s all the sh*t that’s shipped by rail for the gov’t, I was furious. Called the FBI, spoke to the AIC who told me (back then anyway,) they kept track of everyone who accessed information on those classified shipments. 1 year later we had a dispatcher involved in a theft, took 2 days before they had him arrested in Tx trying to cross the border. So, maybe they used to do it, or, maybe they are doing a Ronald Reagan guns for some other garbage thing. Either way, “I have no specific recollections of those events Senator.”

Im a LEO in Indiana and if we had a missing weapon, all hell would break loose, there would probably be cavity searches looking for it…..

(Kinda lost count – could be up to 8.0.)

I’m put in mind of the po-po who placed his AR platform long gun on the top of his po-po car and forgot about it and drove off. He eventually remembered about it, and drove back to where he last parked, but couldn’t find it. Fortunately for him, a Good Citizen (serf) found it and turned it in.

Me? If I’d have found it? I’d have looked around to see of there were any witnesses (pedestrians and drivers) or possible witnesses (buildings and houses). If none, pick that puppy up and take it home.
“Look dear, it followed me home. Can I keep it?”
You aren’t responsible enough to keep such a dangerous weapon secure, I’ll do it for you.

HMCS(FMF) ret.

What type of accountability is done for LEO’s that have weapons stolen or when they “lose” them? Oh, that’s right… they get a “Don’t do it again” scolding and transferred to another department internally. Tony Magsam is a perfect example of “accountable” LEO’s with weapons, right?

I am a little concerned about our own fearless leader of Gun Nutz.

I hope the arsenal of scary black assault weapons purchased in the back alleys of seedy neighborhoods is being guarded.

With the bunker getting new floral sand bags and a super highway to the shitter I hope there are guard walking post.

Not to mention the ammo, the free ammo obtained by dragging peace loving neighbors into the range for the reward.

This whole remodel thing seems a bit sketchy. I wonder if the compound will get a kevlar mailbox. You can get your ass he evacuated with all the liquor.

I’m just wondering what kind of spin Nancy and Barb will put on this…

Oops – I meant SENATOR Barb

Fuck ’em both–figuratively speaking, although we all know IDC will take it literally.

My Mom once met both of them and Diane Feinstein. While Feinstein was civil to everybody, Boxer and Pelosi both acted like they could hardly believe that they were in the same room with lowly unwashed peasants.

I had the same impression after meeting Representative Mike Honda (D-CA).
